I may be slow on this but I finally figured out why I like you 2 doing covers. You are able to take these well known songs and make them your own without ruining anything about feelings many of us associated with these songs over the years. You enhance these covers in ways that start a whole new way of feeling these songs. Nothing taken and a lot returned.
I've always said if you're going to cover a unique piece of art like an incredible song, you better do it at least as well as the original. And if you can do it even better like Vanilla Fudge's version of "You Keep Me Hanging On," Jeff Healey's version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," more is the power to you. And Rochelle and Toni really do bring something new to each song that they cover. In this, I'm in total agreement with you, you're absolutely right on!

Hi Josh. I love all your videos too. If you get a chance, check out Montauk on Kevin R Miles channel. My father Robert wrote Montauk 40 years ago and Kevin R Miles from the UK was nice enough to cover it this past May. This was a thrill for my 87 year old father. I'm 63 and am learning piano now.
I've watched this video many times since it first posted. I think it is my favorite of theirs. Reina's unique voice is made for this song. Her guitar strap is made for that blouse. We all agree that Toni is a phenomenal guitarist, and I think that this is her best work. Flawless. Everything about this performance is excellent. Including the venue. A fine tribute to a wonderful song.

One of the best songs ever written by a child of Aotearoa NZ and I think Neil would love it.
As a musician who grew up listening to Both Split Enz and Crowded House of which Neil Finn played a big part of, this brings a smile to my face hearing others play their own rendition of this wonderful tune.
Too many people change the key and something about the key this song is in just makes it... it. Love that you kept it and the guitar work was phenomenal. Thank you!
Yes, love the sound of tuned-down Eb with the chimey open string voicings. Had to keep that. :)
As a person with synesthesia and a background in music theory, key signatures evoke emotions and changing the key to fit a singer's range can change the core and thus the meaning. People who are not synesthetes still relate the songs and keys to meaning subconsciously, even if they can't pinpoint why they "don't like it" when they hear something that has been transposed.

The original song by Crowded House is one of my favourite songs of all time by one of my favourite bands of all time. I don't like most covers I heard of it, but this one is fabulous.

Why is it I'm always a little teary-eyed when they get to the end of a song? That blue set is stunning.
I feel bad about always saying this but Toni is just so great on guitar and a pleasure to listen to. If I had a band, I would want her as a lead guitarist. She's just so versatile and can sing and play harmonica and acoustic and bass guitar as needed. Reina's vocals are just so spot on as always and her guitar is so smooth and warm sounding. Great band.

That room takes me back to my childhood. It was a time when "Don't Dream It's Over" was playing on the radio constantly and Grandmas had a certain decorating flair that is tricky to duplicate these days. 😃

I was in my mid-teens when this Crowded House song came out. I loved it instantly, ran out and bought the album, and played it endlessly for months. It was the soundtrack to my life at that time: young, innocent, and bittersweet. Thanks for this beautiful rendition. It took my right back.
