    Morrisman passed away in 2023. He really did have a way of simplifying these great songs with just a relatively few chord shapes. I have a few of his videos with chord charts added and a chart with most of the shapes he uses.
    Search for common chord voicings with no spaces between the words you will find it. I make no money on this it is just to share with guys that love this kind of music like I do. I had made this chord chart long before I found Morrisman but made a few changes for some of his voicings. Wade

    Massive my bro. You always play these tracks tastefully with a few gold dust chords that add the sweetener. Love how you got me through that instrumental part with easy to understand chords rather than me trying to playing like an octopus lol. Thanks brother and blessings my man

    Morrisman, thank you for posting lessons to all of these great songs! I only recently got into Funk/R&B guitar playing since I now play in a band with a horn player and want to really increase my "Soul" repertoire. I grew up on Hard Rock and Classic Rock stuff, but always loved the Funky side of guitar! And this is coming from a white boy from the Suburbs, albeit the Philly suburbs, so I can relate to Philly Soul...it's in my blood! Thanks again!

    I tip my hat to you for this exceptional instruction video. Naming the chords as you progress through the song takes your lesson to another level. Many thanks.

    Seeing it done instead of just listening to it just hits different. You might make me fine time to play! 🤙 Those chords are choice, I wondered which parts were borrowed or diminished etc, you nailed it. 🔨

    The only thing I do differently is add a C on the low E string to the Dmin barre chord. You can't really hear the difference... maybe it's because I'm always adding little pieces of the keyboard melodies or parts of the vocal melody.

    I’m just now getting into chords but my fear is getting lost in the fretboard trying to find the 6th, 8th, 12th fret etc. You make it look so easy to play but this is gonna take some work. Also any tips for big finger players like me cause my accuracy when it comes to hitting chords on the fretboard is about 85%.

    • @morrisman64
      @morrisman64  Před 4 lety

      We all go thru that my friend in time all will come to you just keep practicing that is the key. I've be playing since I was a teenager

    • @vidmaster011
      @vidmaster011 Před 3 lety +2

      @@morrisman64 update...I’m no longer getting lost in the frets, I can jump back and forth through notes and I know where I am. I just pay CLOSE attention to the marks on my fretboard. However I’m convinced that playing chords and not muting strings for me is impossible. It just doesn’t work and I’ll be just fine playing individual notes.
