I attended DLs' live twice in their Japan tour last month and this song felt better than the original. I never thought that good this song in live. Henrik and Aaron really proud of their singer and enjoy playing with him or just listening the inspiring voice. there isn't enough words to describe how good their gig are. I hope one day you will do and being blown away by them. Next suggestion from me is a song called "better" by Cody Fry and Cory Wong. this will shock you.
I grew up in a time when the music and the words had Depth. It has gone off on so many "tangents" taking it straight into the "Pop" realm, and calling it Music. This band has given me hope that it's about to come full circle. I just love these guys. With all of the talent they have, they never go full Hedonistic to display it. It's more about the music, the words, the arrangements, and Feeling the music in the moment. Aaron is just a human metronome with flair! I'm so jealous.....
There are others. Jinjer is like that. Opeth, Korn, Disturbed, Snarky Puppy, Linkin Park... Honestly people who lament how shallow and repetitive music has become, and how it just doesn't have the depth, emotion, or complexity that it used to, are just listening to the wrong music. In every era, there are, and were, a few groups or songs that produced absolutely sublime magic... and thousands and thousands of pieces of forgettable dross. When you tune into an Oldies station, or a Classic Rock station or even an 80's or 90's station, you're not hearing a balanced, unbiased, or random sampling of music from that era; you're hearing the absolute best of the best. The truly amazing classics with tons of staying power because they have meaning _and_ complexity _and_ listenability _and_ technique. Those older genres have the advantage that knowledgeable people, combined with attrition of popularity of things that are just a bop and don't have any real staying power, have filtered through all the junk so you can just listen to the true gems. Modern music still has those gems... but nobody has curated them for you yet, so you have to listen to everything and find the beauty for yourself (although reaction channels, I believe, are vastly accelerating the process of filtering through what's out there, as the next evolution of music journalism). I would argue passionately that there are far _more_ absolutely incredible musicians, bands, and songs coming out every year than ever before. It's easier than ever for someone with natural talent to hear many styles, find the style they love, learn it, and then reach an audience. There are _several_ artists alive right now who are widely considered "the best of all time" in their instrument or genre, and for good reason. I'm glad Dirty Loops has given you hope that "real music" is "coming back", but I promise you, if you go exploring, it's out there and always has been. Real music has never gone anywhere, and though it evolves and changes over time, which can sometimes leave people behind due to nostalgia or an unwillingness to explore new genres and sounds, if you know where to look, there are _amazing_ things happening now, just as there were in the 10's, and the 00's, and the 90's, and the 80's, and the 70's, and on through history.
Nice and informative reaction. This is the one musical reason I'm so proud of being swedish. I know that is not my doing. They worked hard for this. They are just awesome at so many levels. Thank you for liking my favorite band.
This is one of my favorite tracks from these guys. It's so slinky and groovy, and those fills from the bass and drums, sheesh. Very underrated track. Oh and, the vocals ain't bad either. Love that modulation they do, and yeah, there's no way those were keyboard horns, lol.

Thanks, also for showcasing Dirty Loops’ work and giving them their due respect 🙏 They are the masters of pocket and groove, aren’t they?! 🔥🔥🔥 I loved how you zoomed in on Aron’s chops and on Jonah’s vocals -yes, it’s absolutely mind boggling how they can make things work and create all that contrast (for instance between the tightness and intricacies of the drum lines, and Jonah’s soaring vocal lines, sounding so free. As well as all that dynamic contrast-.) Just ALWAYS gets me… also the emotions he carries in his voice, -how can you not be touched by it? And Henrik, who most of the time adds his bass lines at the end of the recording process, just knowing exactly where to put what, when to step back or come forward, still funky as hell even in this slow ballad… he straddles the chord and harmonic side of bass playing with the rhythmical, percussive side of it so well, doesn’t he? That epic sound in this tune, the horns, so much open space…it always reminds me of Star Wars somehow 😉 these guys are off the friggin planet! Who I think is also crucial to all of this is Simon Petrén, their mixing, mastering and sound engineer. His knowledge and understanding of music is equally mind-blowing. Thanks again, Bob. Would absolutely appreciate more Dirty Loops reactions from you, will go and check the list of DLoops tunes you’ve covered so far and see if there’s one you haven’t done yet. I think you’ll enjoy this one-. 👍
I love your reactions Bob! You're often repeating the same observations I make myself when listening to all these songs, and you have such a calm but still enthusiastic way of explaining things. It's great that you're pausing and rewinding more! I have one big wish though, and that is that you please react to more of Jacob Collier. If you haven't heard more than that "live" session from his room, you're in for an incredible musical threat! He creates harmony like no one other on this planet, his arrangement of Moon River is something you (especially as a musician) don't wanna leave the planet without hearing at least once!

"Jonah" (real name Jonas) has a huge nack for Pat Metheny and Lyle Msys. It shines through in so many ways if one is familiar w the huge portfolio of PM/LM.. The cool thing about these three Swedes though comes with their over all meshing a lot of other styles as well together even though a "lyric/symphonic" Metheny/Mays component so often comes into Jonas/Henrik/Aron's "musical soul expressio tools" way of making music: As their music clearly is "for musical/Musician souls".. As a clear cut analysis from following Jonas way of performing/composing he runs down what sound as "jazz improvisation" jazz style piano playing but in actuality it is note by note composed/rehearsed.. The complexity of the intricatly interwoven "jazzy playing" in what most guess is Jonas improvising is in all reasonable observation in my view Jonas carefully crafting master pieces of jazz lines both intricate but more importantly deeply musically soul fully intelligent.. Though: they are not improvisation on the spot.. One can find jam sessions w Jonas on stage "having fun with other musicians live/unrehearsed" and the kind of madterful (rehearsed great jazz lines) way of "jazzing/improvising " is miles away from the kind of super interesting jazz lines Jonas puts down in their own release videos!
Musically he is a true virtuoso with a creative spirited soul to top it off.. .. what only could be taken as mediocre or even lame is the style of lyricus they run with.. Can't get all in one I guess..
The only way I can sort of compare this piece to other compositions is, when Frank Zappa "composed Bobby Brown" just to piss people off. (I think it started out with some moron said to Frank, that he could not compose anything that people in general would like. The rest is history.) We are truly fortunate in these absurd times, to experience true artistry on an everyday basis. Totally unique and immortal. Cheers from southern Italy!
