Chinese long scale numbers from 1 to 10^524288

- The program that makes this has been sitting around collecting dust for several months now, and I finally decided to make a video out of it. This animation uses a special version of Chinese numerals where each new number name after 万 (10,000) is the square of the last! As such, the characters that represent those numbers are colored based on the 2048 tile corresponding to their exponent, while the numbers 1 to 9 are just colored based on the rainbow.
The video does get laggy in some parts, but there's nothing I can really do about that except for getting a better computer. (or having the program run super slow, recording that, and speeding it up, but that would take several times longer and use up much more data, so... no)
You can also see the program at ancient-chines....
This is very cool! There is just one error: Zero should be included whenever it falls between two nonzero digits. For example, 103 is 一百零三, where 零 can be romanized as líng, not 一百三. 1003 is 一千零三, 1040 is 一千零四十, 1045 is 一千零四十五. The character 零 also has a simplified version: 〇. Thank you!
I didn't know about this rule before, thanks for the correction! Would 1010 be 一千零十? That kinda feels wrong to me because just saying "零十" seems like "zero tens", but maybe that's not how it works.
Anyway, if I make an extension to this video in the future, I will be doing it this way instead.
(also, fun fact, 零 is used, but is invisible and used to keep the early parts from being too jittery.)
@@katakana1 That is a great question! 1010 should be 一千零一十. Although Chinese people often make mistakes when it comes to the use of 十 or 一十, the standard is to use 一十 whenever any larger number is in front, regardless of whether or not 零 is between them. As another example, 110 is 一百一十.
@@YamamotoTV2021说得好❤
@@katakana1 also,
10000 is 万
10⁸ is 亿
But, 10¹² is 兆 and also is 万亿
10¹⁶ is not 兆 , is 京
10²⁰ is not 万兆 , is 垓
so your video says the Chinese numbers is wrong
@@zheng4639 Well, the point of the video is that this is the _long_ scale: Major numbers are 10^2^n instead of 10^4n like normal. Sorta like Knuth's -yllions.

Hey Katakana! I actually started making a fan series of it and it’s putting drawing the symbols and putting them in text from your video ( without color sorry :( )
In the normal units, the orders are correct, but the characters are not in each 1 trillion times the unit to change the characters,it should be 10 thousand times the value to change, its abnormal
Although the normal system has each new name be 10,000 times the previous, the long scale squares each name to produce the next instead. (and it's not the 1 trillion thing you mentioned either)

Is there a explanation on how this long scale system works?
It's in the description, but I will put it here as well: "Each new number name after 万 (10,000) is the _square_ of the last!"
@@katakana1can it go to 10^10^10?
@@robinpinar9691 Well... Not _normally..._ But if you consider 万 to be 数一, and 数(n+1) to be (数n)^2, then 10^10^10 would be a bit more than 数三十一.
@katakana1 can it go to infinity

萬 is traditional and 万 is simplified. This video uses simplified.
