Loved watching Leo young as did my dad, brothers and uncles. Bloody tough as nails and we all loved his bullock style. My two favorites as a boy were Kahu Mahanga and of course LEO. Dad would scream out Leos on and me and the brothers would run to the t. v. What we all loved about Leo was the anticipation of what could happen next he would tear in and swing widely and it was terrific viewing, P.S. he fought in the greatest era of Australian boxing, Thanks Leo and all the TV Ringside fighters for the great memories
Yes mate. Unfortunately we did not have the technology to record things back the, so once you saw it live you waited for next week. But all these blokes were house hold names back then and Melbourne newspapers has specific boxing reporters. Jack Dunn wrote for the Sun, and on Tuesday morning there would be 3 pages in the sporting section about Monday nights boxing, shown live on TV. These were great fights, the rubbish most, not all, but most dish out now is unwatchable, as you say, holding then prancing away. This is why boxing has withered away on the vine, it holds no public interest anymore. Very sad, but when you see these clips of great entertaining fighters, you can see why.👍

I knew Leo, when I lived in Collingwood. He would come to the Fitzroy baths❤ I was a young teen then. Is he still living?
