    Old school options: So, you want manual steering, a/c and a 304 in cherry red? No problem!
    Modern options: Well, if you want a/c, youre going to need to get the comfort package, remote start and 20" alloy wheels, oh, and it doesn't come in the colors you want. No, there arent any engine options, but, for $200 you can get these cool floor mats!

    • @badtux
      @badtux Před 4 lety +1

      LOL! Obsoleted by the JL Wrangler. They all come with a/c, there's five different combinations of engines (3.6L w/o mild hybrid system, 3.6l w/mild hybrid system, 2.0 turbo w/o mild hybrid system, 2.0 turbo w/mild ybrid system, 3.0l turbodiesel), two different transmissions (6 speed Aisin manual or 8 speed ZF automatic), and oh yeah, unfortunately some of those combinations only come on certain model lines and you can't get some engines with the manual.
      BTW, all of the JL Wrangler engines make more power than the AMC 304. Engine technology has come a long ways since 1970, when the AMC 304 was introduced.

    Yeah, I know, but these 'safety' standards are what kill people nowadays IMO. People have forgotten how to drive for themselves. They speed more, brake suddenly, peel out just to stop at a red light thirty feet in front of them. Its a shame that we are 'saved' from ourselves so much. The wish for the modern CJ is simply a wish for something smaller, simpler and still more fuel efficient, something that Chrysler is considering nowadays.

    @JSSJeepin Plus, more parts are made for the TJ because it is the off road Jeep, arguably off road vehicle of chose, because it is simple, has one of the best motors jeep has ever made (4.0 liter). The JKs have that 3.6 liter. I have driven one to me they feel under powered. Hey im not trying to bash JKs i really do like them i think they are a sweet rig. But I know the TJ will be the Jeep most serious guys pick.

  • @Joester1908
    @Joester1908 Před 12 lety

    @JSSJeepin i disagree. The JKs and TJs are both very capable rigs, and yes you do have a point that CJ5s and 7s have leafs, and YJs and XJs leafs in the rear. A leaf wont give as much suspension travel as a coil, but when you lift a TJ or JK with the 4 wheel coils, it shifts the weight weird on rocks. I own a TJ and an XJ and i have done some off roading with some people in a club. There is a CJ5 that keeps right up with us. One person actually wants to put leafs on his TJ. Feels more stable.

    @NotoriousJam Hardly. The YJ couldn't even keep up with a stock TJ, let alone a JK.
    The JK has more suspension travel, more ground clearance, better angles and real traction control which makes it far better than a TJ, which the YJ is leagues behind.
    While the Wrangler may not be as simple as a toothpick anymore, it will wheel circles around a CJ, and make a YJ and TJ sweat.

      @@cjjenson8212 But then you still have an old Jeep. With all the issues that come with owning an old car -- high maintenance costs and difficulties getting it smogged, especially once the engine and transmission wear out and you decide to replace them with a modern engine and transmission rather than the hard-to-find AMC parts. It's a great project car if that's what you want, or a great offroad-only vehicle if that's what you want, but you're still talking a lot of time and/or money to keep it reliable and on the road.

      @@badtux NO!
      What you have is a brand new jeep with new engine and trans,Tcase with 250% reduction.
      You have KYB shocks with long arm suspension.
      New seats.
      Air conditioning.
      But most important you have the "jeep wave" which you don't get in a Chrysler.
      For around 15-20,000 depending on the powertrain
      you get.
      In my 7 I run a Nissan 2.4 engine bumped to 150hp and 178ft lbs torque. With 28 mpg avg.
      The original 4.2 inline 6 had 100 hp and 180ftlbs but only got 13 mpg.
      Plus the joy of building yourself.

    @PeteWaddell X2, more likely nowadays you'd break alot of expensive plastic parts... Too much plastic in the name of safety if you ask me. Bring back a flat metal dash and a design that encourages people to drive slower like the jeep in general and you'd have less fatalities without living in a nanny state.

    If you rolled one of these, not one thing would be buggered except a few scratches from rocks.
    If you rolled a Modern 4WD of these days, It would scrunch up like paper.
