  • Here’s how the Tearlaments Cards work.
    Every Tearlaments Card has a powerful main effect, as well as a secondary effect whenever it’s sent to the graveyard by a card effect, making them similar to the Shaddoll ( Shaddoll Beast ) archetype.
    This effects can vary from gaining you advantage in some way like the Tearlaments Spell ( Tearlaments Scream ) and Trap cards ( Tearlaments Sulliek ), or can instead be used to perform Fusion summons with like with Scheiren ( Tearlaments Scheiren ), Havnis ( Tearlaments Havnis ) and Merrli ( Tearlaments Merrli ) by placing Fusion materials from your hand, field or graveyard to the bottom of the deck.
    This effect can be used to summon out any Fusion monster you could want ( Predaplant Dragostapelia ) ( Mudragon Of The Swamp ), with the only real restriction being that one of the materials you use must be the Tearlaments monster you activated in the grave.
    With these effects you can access a number of insane boss monsters, including it’s archetypal bosses; There’s Kitkalos ( Tearlaments Kitkalos) for Swarming and Milling, Rulkallos which beats Nibiru ( Nibiru, The Primal Being )and Bystials ( Bystial Magnamhut ) and Kaleido-Heart ( Tearlaments Kaleido-Heart ) which can spin back any card your opponent controls back into the deck.
    As a result of all of the Tearlaments cards having powerful graveyard effects, most of the Tearlaments cards have some kind of effect to send cards to the graveyard by either milling cards( Tearlaments Merrli ) from the top of the deck, foolishing cards ( Tearlaments Reinoheart ) or by sending a card from the hand ( Tearlements Scheiren ) or field ( Tearlaments Sulliek ) to the graveyard.
    This made most Tearlaments strategies highly graveyard focused with most Decks incorporating powerful graveyard effects such as the likes of Fairy Tail - Snow and the Ishizu engine ( Keldo The Sacred Protector ) ( Kelbek The Ancient Vanguard ) which helped cement their Tier 0 status.

      Reality is a new player need only concern themselves with the most recent 10 or so archetypes that have seen play. Anything else is either too niche, powercrept, or inconsistent to stand a realistic chance of winning games. It takes quite a lot of clever and precise plays for a rogue deck to have a decent match against a meta one, and pretty much everything just loses to Tear at the moment anyway.

I play Skystrike Runic, In tears, unless I got super lucky with my draw, I completely lost, but against Kash it feels much more do able even with weaker decks and the loss of Mystic Mine. Personally, id argue the best deck is Spight Twin Runick, their options feel insane sometimes, even more than Naturia which hard counter sky strike.
      That said, it is the most meta defining deck rn and the most played since it feels like the best decks are the who can beat it most consistently and the ones that cant fall rogue. Though that's no surprise, that deck is basically gundam.

    I have been saying that this is the most unhinged archetype that Konami has ever printed and I maintain it. It's central mechanic (mill for fusion summon) is actually really interesting, but implemented in such a way that make it annoyingly overpowered.
    It's effectively the biggest proof of why you want "lockdown clauses" ("but you can't special summon monsters for the rest of the turn except of Type/Attribute [X]", "but you can't activate [Y] kind of card the turn you use this effect") in most archetypes, in order to prevent the ridiculous synergies that made this deck Tier 0, and I still can't believe they didn't consider adding them to these cards.
    A shame because most of the Tearlaments cards will never leave the forbidden/limited lists unless they get an errata or Konami prints something even more unhinged.

    • @penguin5848
      @penguin5848 Před rokem +9

      Thing is, the deck isn’t all that, it’s a high roll deck, the problem is the fact that too many cards like the GY in current meta game to the point that tearlaments even if not good can become free mill engine. Kitkallos+merlli is a mill of 8

Not to mention if they mill the field spell as they can't retrieve it from the GY without Ishizu shufflers. Sure being generic fusers means they can run the likes of Winda and Dragostapelia, but Tear is really not that broken all around. Why do they get restricted this much?

      HellShadoll Hollow went sent to the GY. Let's you mill cards equal to the number of different attributes on the field; Shaddoll Beast lets you draw one when milled, and Shadoll Dragon can pop a spell/trap when milled. There are other ways of getting cards back into your deck without using the Ishizu retrains; just the Ishizu retrains the best ones that can do it; Pot/Jar of Avarice can return five cards (in the case of Pot, just monsters) back to your deck and draw 2

    Funny enough in the mirror match, you'd easily get past chain link 12 in a lot of matches. So this is where Vanity's Call is great right? Well no, if you go second, there is no point in setting one if you were unfortunate enough to draw it. Every time a deck manages to do enough make enough of a chain to make that card useful, circumstances conspire to make sure you wouldn't be able to use it. In the case against chain burn decks, you'd usually burn yourself for more than the damage anyways and in this case it's essentially useless going 2nd.

      King of the Swamp and Beastking of the Swamps are the only ones that can do that

    • @ShiroiKiba
      @ShiroiKiba Před 11 měsíci +1

      @alpha34098 there are definitely more than just those two
      The following cards have the effects to "just" replace named Fusion material: Beastking of the Swamp, Goddess with the Third Eye, Mystical Sheep #1, and Versago the Destroyer (and Patchwork Fluffal can do the same, but only for Frightfur monsters)
      Technically King of the Swamp is outside of that group, because it also has the Poly search effect (because it can put itself in the GY and is an Aqua, that makes it the best for Tearlament purposes)
      The following can also substitute, but also allow you to tribute Fusion material you control to Special Summon (not Fusion Summon) a Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck: The Dark Hex-Sealed Fusion, The Earth Hex-Sealed Fusion, and The Light Hex-Sealed Fusion; they can only Special Summon monsters of their respective attributes from the ED (but can be used as material for any attribute monster if not by their own effect)
      The following are still Fusion material Substitutes, but allow you to conduct a Fusion Summon under their own effects: Fusion Parasite (upon its Special Summon outside of Damage Step) and Muddy Mudragon (during your Main Phase, and only if it was Synchro Summoned)
      And finally, there's a Trap that loosely fits in with the first group if it's summoned to the field, being Shaddoll Core; it doesn't have an effect that allows you to Fusion Summon nor can it replace named material (only replacing an attribute required for a Shaddoll Fusion summon), but it has an effect if sent to the GY by card effect that allows you to add a Shaddoll Spell/Trap from GY to hand
      That's 12 total if we're including Shaddoll Core, and I'd argue that Patchwork Fluffal is the worst due to its limitations (although, it's also a Frightfur on field; at least it has that going for it)
      Since most of them have borderline (if not entirely) identical effects, we kind of have a tier list rather than an actual numerical list, but at the top of the list (behind King of the Swamp) has to be one of:
      -Muddy Mudragon (since it can be summoned from the Extra Deck with no need to search it, but no way to mill it off of Tears)
      -Shaddoll Core (needs to be set before it can be used as Fusion material, but can also add back a Shaddoll Schism that you may mill)
      Hope that this is helpful! I know it's super late lol
