      Part of Mysterio's appeal is that he's small, so he is the underdog in every match. This rule would not apply to him.
      Being tall is supposed to be a sign of leadership, strength, power, etc etc so it makes sense they do not want their talent to look small by comparison in most cases.

      @@MSI- "always takes shots at bigger promotions" they've only taken jabs at WWE, most of these shots have been justified (Like the 3rd party platforms, backstage behaviour, etc) and WWE have done the reverse, the only issue I see with AEW is the huge roster and the selling of some wrestlers. Also, the XFL is a bad comparison, the first time Vince seemed to not know what he was doing, the second time it seemed to be going well and then the pandemic hit and they filled for bankruptcy as at the times no major sports games were to be played due to the risks. Obviously, he had taken shots, but that wasn't his downfall.

He even added the "Mr." to his name because of Mr. McMahon. Brody was angry at how Vince treated him so when he got to AEW he spent months mocking Vince with the Mr. Brody vignettes.

    While a lot of these are straight up just Vince's extreme control freak tendencies, I agree with the policy of cutting down on the use of pronouns during play by play. You don't typically hear them used a lot in other sports commentary, because it confuses things and makes what's going on slower to take in when everyone in play is just a he or a she or a they.
    The sneezing thing though? That's not only weird, I'm pretty sure it constitutes workplace abuse.

      Yeah the pronouns is something that's actually an understandable and helpful rule for the company, the sneezing rule tho I'd get the problem if it was like in close proximity of you but overall it shouldn't that strict especially if you're in a big room where your on opposite sides

    I feel the tag rope length makes sense because it shows standardization which a real sport would have. Can’t drift too far away from the corner to make a legal tag. Still quirky to learn about though!

      I don’t see why it would be a problem for someone like a Chad Gable or a Daniel Bryan who are already perceived as underdogs during their matches because of their size anyways.
      However though, in cases like Kevin Owens or Kurt Angle who are only like 5’10 despite their billed heights portraying them as bigger than they actually are because they’re supposed to be perceived as monsters, then I completely understand this rule

    When you hear this stuff, all you do is ask "why does anyone want to work for the WWE?". Its beyond me and it simply does not make logical sense. Signing up for the WWE is akin to signing away your life, like the "Independent Contractor" thing is BS when they have more control over you then most real employers.

    The thing on pronouns is fair. As JR said if you say “He hit him with a bone jarring spinebuster!” you might know exactly who did said move. If you say “Bobby with the bone jarring spinebuster to Randy!” you know who did what.

    People don’t realize how big of a deal subtle details are like using someone’s name instead of pronouns. That’s something I picked up on when I worked in sales talking to many store managers. If you say their name then they tend to like you more, they’re more likely to want to get to know you and give you what you want.

    I think the pronoun rule makes sense based on personal experience. I recently started watching both NXT and AEW around the same time. I found it somewhat difficult to keep track of AEW's large roster and what was up with the individual characters. But it was a lot easier to follow NXT, in part because the announcers identify them clearly and help explain what their deal is.
    It's like the old comic book adage, "Every issue is someone's first."

    Not leaving early, I think also is a programming situation, unplanned events could occur and the point that they are rare and unlikely is the point of keeping all talent in case. Though in truth, you could probably still figure something out and cast members leave at their own risk of reducing their behind the scenes visibility

    The rule about not leaving early goes beyond it being disrespectful. It helps with creative. If a wrestler gets injured or an angle goes wrong. They might call on someone else to fill in.
    This happened to Eric Bischoff. He left raw early. He thought he was done. But he was needed for another segment, to make an on air decision as raw gm for the main event due to a real injury.

    I think the rule about not leaving the arena probably has to do more with being able to improvise as many different scenarios throughout the show as possible. Certainly when it comes to scripts. But if someone gets hurt and needs to be replaced for a match or a promo or some random thing like fathering Mae Young's kayfabe hand child, they probably have preferred choices, so keeping everyone there until the show is over gives them as much flexibility as possible.
