    Gary, not only are you an excellent craftsman but a very effective teacher. Your comments and guidance throughout the video are very insightful especially for a new turner. I look forward to viewing many more of your videos. Very nice creation on the colored off-center bowl.

    Thanks for the video Gary! You just gave me an awesome idea for an "Eclipse" Bowl with the black/silver/white on inside of bowl for the moon and a yellow/orange sunburst around rim. PS It's Kurt R. from Facebook. Congrats on the World of Woodturners cover.

      many thanks Martin, glad you liked it. Luckily I've not had one fly off yet, that's the reason you take your time and make the fit of the foot in the jam chuck nice and tight. :)

As a 76 yr old artist with a snowballs chance in hell of ever operating a lathe, BUT I have learned some tips that I can possibly incorporate into some of my art pieces. I do at least have an airbrush. Thanks for taking us through your creative process. from AU

    HI Gary, I was wondering, is there anything to stop me finishing the bottom (tenon) of the bowl leaving sufficient wood for the jam chuck, that way I don't need to reverse chuck it later? Have you tried this?

    Great job! I have a question about the sand & sealer over the acrylic paints. Do you sand or even run some steel wool or a scotch brite pad over the sand & sealer before you put the final coat of lacquer?

    • @garylowewoodturner1289
      @garylowewoodturner1289  Před 7 lety

      Hey Butch, thanks for the comments. Yes it is a good idea to slightly flatten the sealer with fine sandpaper or similar prior to the final coats of lacquer
