Getting out breath (dyspnea) is the most common symptom of COPD. Simple activities can become difficult. This happens due to a process called Dynamic Hyperinflation - when too much air stacks inside the chest making it difficult and uncomfortable to breathe.
By applying proper breathing techniques, people can do better.

Understanding what hyperinflation is and knowing how to relieve it cannot be over emphasised. Having that knowledge is key to switch the thinking from 'I can't breathe' to 'This is how I'm going to breathe'.

This was a great explanation. I can show my loved ones to help them understand as I personally couldn't explain it. Thank you

It can be from other lung conditions as well.

You're not alone. I apparently have it as well with no signs of COPD at all. Just came out of nowhere. Don't smoke, only in my 30's.

Yep, me too. Mine started with Covid/long covid. It’s been a yard sale since then. Sleep apnea, pacemaker, dysautonomia, and now dynamic hyperinflation. I was (still like to think I am) very athletic. No smoking, no drugs, etc. I’m still in OK shape but struggle on a daily basis.
