Not sure on the broadcast date, probably 1986 (the release date of Shot In The Dark)

The young people today would be utterly shocked at the sight of Ozzy giving an articulate and coherant interview. The REALLY scary part was prior to the horribly staged 'stoner' interview he did for the Death Of Western Civilization documentry, interviews like this with Ozzy were the norm. He was/is a very smart guy when he isn't trying to be a cartoon character.
His interviews and cohearancy have gotten MUCH better since this comment was posted.The signs of too much booze and coke are extremely evident here and both suffered as a result.

I love Ozzy so much. He's my biggest hero of all time. I am so lucky I grew up in the 80's and got to watch all of these kind of TV show interviews back when they really came on. Back then at least they would put some rock and roll on TV. These days the TV acts like rock and roll doesn't exist. They play rap music and bad country pop. They completely turn their back on these heavy metal legends. So does the radio. We're spoonfed fucking Tom Petty and occasionally given some AC/DC or one of Zeppelin's way overplayed moldy oldies. Ozzy gets a little airplay once in a while. But it's not fair. Hard rock and metal still has a massive audience. Thsnk God for You Tube and our video and album collections at home so we can enjoy real rock and roll. Ozzy rules..I love all metal. I love KISS, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Venom, thrash and death and doom bands. Heavy metal bands have way more musical talent than pop artists. That is a fact. And Ozzy is the Godfather of it all..I love Ozzy forever. I got to meet him too in 2001. It was the best day of my life. I saw Black Sabbath 26 times in concert. I started listening to metal at 8 years old in 1980. I started with KISS, then Sabbath. I saw Ozzy solo 15 times too.

This interview was done in 1986 as part of the promotion for Ultimate Sin, that's why it then goes into the Shot in the Dark video....???

just looked at live aid from 1985 and he doesent look overweight there at all.
Unlike most of the commentors to this video,who are so surprised at how Ozzy looks here,I lived through his whole career. In the early and mid 80's Ozzy definitely was overweight. Alcohol bloat.He drank day and night through this period, while doing enough cocaine to keep himself awake,so that he could drink more. He didn't really lose weight until he was making the No More Tears album and that also was his first attempt at getting sober. Since then he has exercised and tried, while not always being successful, to keep his drinking under control.

I wouldn't let it worry you too much - this was a Godsend to the Ozzy PR machine and I'd say the grief caused paled into insignificance in relation to the soaring album and ticket sales that resulted from it.

1986 isn't right because it was "The Ultimate Sin" period. "Bark At The Moon" was released December 1983.

86 Ultimate Sin tour with Metallica opening....saw it in San Diego in june Cliff Burton was still alive.
Actually he looks quite well for this period - he put loads of weight on around this time.
