- t's not a late April Fool's Day joke, MINI has a new crossover, the Countryman. ;It's the first MINI with four-doors, four comfortable seating positions and the option of all four wheels getting power. Maybe they should have called it Fourman... Tom Voelk drives a front-wheel drive S model.
There was a time I really didn't care for these cars. And I am a real car buff. But I wouldn't mind owning one. THey are growing on me. Don't get me wrong a car with 550 HP and 500 lbs of torque is awesome but you can never use all the car you paid for. Here is a car you can floor it all the time like say the Honda Civic and you can use all the car you pay for. ALOT. Instead of as soon as you goose it you have to let off. My ways of thinking are changing and I really like what MINI has done :)

This car look awesome but i think there are better cars for this segment. But i guess if you like the mini but want the size it fits great. BTW, a fantastic review once again.
Wish it could seat 5 instead of 4.

This mini has a 16 valve chain-driven 1.6 litre petrol engine developed in collaboration by PSA and BMW, which was botched and a complete screw-up. On top of that it is turbocharged - one more thing that can break and prove costly to change. It also has an electronic thermostat, which is UNHEARD OF in European engine design. The engine falls apart about after about 50,000 miles. To be precise the chain, head gasket and rocker cover wear out hideously, performance becomes chronic and engine noise becomes similar to a 747 when taking off.

I got a 13’ countryman and I appreciate your advice. Just cracked the rear spring overloading it. If you have any suggestions for upgrading to coil overs etc let me know I’m trying to get parts now. Considering a new rear sub frame as it’s rusted out
