    Movement Lesson™ is a unique holistic approach specialized in mathematics of movement structure and development. We look at the past, present, and future milestones to explain a child's movement patterns. Using a 6 step movement process, we change movement patterns into movement combinations that allow for more optimal functioning. While primarily used with babies and children, ML can be used on adults too.
    This channel does not support traditional ideals about child development. Unintentionally, traditional ideals do not have your child's optimal development in mind. Movement Lesson teaches you the functional milestone movements and sub-milestone transitional skills that must happen in the body for any person to experience their optimal development!

    I have two sibling cousins. A boy & girl. The boy is eldest. They were both "army crawlers". They then went straight to walking. Both at 11 to 12 months. They are both healthy & currently in elementary schools with average grades.

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Yes that can happen, but don't you want exceptional grades. Why are the grades average, no one will bring that back to the milestones except me. This child in particular was not as lucking as your siblings cousins. This child has RHOTBT2. The mother saw early warning signs of poor development and started working with your child's development despite the poor performances.

      @MrsMicrowavee Před 2 měsíci

      @@movementlessonno? Average grades are fine, as long as my they're passing nobody cares about exceptional grades. It's important not to push your kids too hard to try and achieve something beyond their reach or potential. Children thrive so much better when you work at and slightly above the level you know they can achieve. Trying to push kids to meet that can make them set expectations for themselves and make them become incredibly disappointed in themselves and believe everyone else is disappointed. Besides, most jobs and schools etc. Only care that you pass, at least here in the UK.

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před měsícem

      When kids have optimal development in their system, you don't have to push them, they want to thrive. Without optimal development, kids can't reach their full potential and thats why they get frustrated.

      how is your baby now?

  • @avivasolson4280
    @avivasolson4280 Před rokem +3

    My almost 11 mo old baby does this (10 mo corrected age). He army crawls, that too using his right foot to push and not using the left one at all (unless he is turning to the left), used to use both forearms to pull himself forward while army crawling but lately it's his right palm with his left forearm still on the floor. He's not very good at independent sitting yet (which he only figured out at 10 mo actual age) and never uses his hands to support himself when sitting. Needless to say, he still hasn't learned how to get in and out of sitting, pulling up to stand, and all other gross motor skills that come down the pipeline. There seems to be a lack of will on top of lack of skill. He just wants to be mobile. I have a hard time doing any of the PT exercises with him because he just wants to play in his own way.

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před rokem

      Your baby is missing some milestones to give him the movement, function, and independence for his optimal development. There is no lack of will, just no other options for him to move, so he has no choice in the matter. It's not about his own way, it's the only way. Your goal is to show him a new way to move that is more optimal. I can give you guidance with a free movement review in my Facebook Group (facebook.com/groups/1508200962782191) , or you can try out my crawling course for optimal development (www.movementlesson.academy/crawling-course-exercises). Again, he has missed some milestones so you may not have success with the course because you need to teach his body the milestones he is missing to make his movements more successful.

    Hello. Found this video after googling “army crawling” because my 11 month does this. Did she manage to crawl/is she walking now? Thanks

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před 11 měsíci +2

      In the case of this little girl, the army crawl was a serious sign of developmental delay. At 13/14 months she started having seizures and has been on a long road of recovery. She does some crawling now but has movement restriction in the pelvis that makes the 4 point crawl very difficult. She can't look where she is going when she crawls and will often alternate between a four-point and a three point crawl. For this girl a lot of warning signs were adding up, so the mom was working on giving her the experiences of development since the baby couldn't do performances. As for your baby at 11 months for optimal development she should be working on standing and cruising along the couch. Army crawling DOES NOT mean that your child is at risk for seizures, the army crawl is just telling you that your baby is deviating from optimal development and if you want a better future for her, you will want to work on giving her the developmental experiences she is missing out on because she is not getting optimal experiences right now if she is only army crawling at 11 months old. Your daughter may only need a little movement support which you can get in my Crawling for Optimal Development, www.movementlesson.academy/crawling-course-exercises. But if that course is not working for you baby and they don't start going into a four point classic crawl then there is something more serious that needs to be addressed that is going on with her development and I would recommend a movement review to get more specific guidance on your child's movement needs for her optimal development. I do free movement reviews on my facebook group and I can give you more guidance there, facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners

    My child started army crawling when she was 11 months (9.5 months adjusted) and she is now 12 months and still army crawling. Is this a concern? What should I do?

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před 3 měsíci

      At 11 months old your baby should be working on going in and out of standing. Age-adjusting gives you a false sense of security that it's okay your baby is behind. I don't recommend that you measure your child's development off of age-adjusting. It will make you be less proactive instead of getting on your baby's development. Army crawling is not optimal development. We need to look at the baby's past milestones and where she she has her last successful milestones. Watch this video and based on the charts you will get your baby's developmental timeline and what you have to work with. czcams.com/video/4t43NKbn44M/video.htmlsi=ucI0V_SJFdilDSE_. If you want to start making efforts to change that timeline, get into my Fast Start Support Program and Start with the Sleeping and Lying down course based on the calendar in the video www.movementlesson.academy/fast-start. I recommend that you get hip x-rays and a good eye exam from a pediatric ophthalmologist. Again your baby shouldn't be army crawling and we need to make sure the hips and eyes are forming right for optimal movement. Once you have those reports, I can do a free movement review on my Facebook Group and let you know if you need to prusue any more medical. I am not a doctor, so I want to make sure things are not being ignored and get you the right medical team on board so we can work together to optimize your child's development. facebook.com/groups/MovementLessonParentsPractitioners

    My baby is now 11 and a half months and he army crawls. He can pull himself up, change to sitting etc. He uses both feet. I'd go as far as to say, he army crawls faster than I think he'd be able to crawl on all fours if he could. What could be the issue here? He moves like Spider-man currently, so much so I tried to do it with him and he left me in the dust. Is this something I should be concerned about?

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před 3 měsíci

      Your baby should not be army crawling at 11 months. That is not optimal development and if you are wanting him to be successful at athletics when he is older, you should be worried. The worry shouldn't paralyze you, it should drive you to learn what's needed to offer your son the best development. The way you are describing the milestones, his system is not learning how to move efficiently. He may be fast, but its not efficient and it can lead to attention issues down the road. He needs better movement foundations, though it will be difficult to work on him since he moves so much. You will want to work on him while he is sleeping. You will need to evaluate each milestone for quality, meaning how well can every body part perform the the milestones. I teach you how to do that in my Fast Start Support Program. You wills start with Sleeping and Lying Down, Tummy Time and the Looking At You Course. (working on these milestones it also working on making his crawling and walking skills more efficient when it comes). Please utilize the support offered in the program if you are struggling with application while your son is sleeping. www.movementlesson.academy/fast-start

      My son increasingly is crawling now, but still prefers his commando crawl as it’s more efficient for him.
      He is beginning to walk. He can walk a lot but doesn’t have full stability, so still has to hold on to stuff.
      He’s also quite large. Was probably 12kg at his heaviest but since being able to move, has come down to just over 10kg.
      Should I be concerned still given he clearly can crawl bur prefers not to?

      No she is not even walking yet and she is 19 months old now. She had seizures around 13 months old and hand a complete paralysis of the left side of her body. It was discovered that she has a genetic condition. She has regained much of her function but developmental movements are still awkward. Mom does movement lesson with her frequently to optimize her movements and give her the developmental experiences she is not creating on her own.

    Not normal? …. Army crawling is completely normal for all babies. Not sure where you get your false information from. You can’t expect a baby to go straight to crawling. You’re crazy

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před měsícem

      If a baby can only army crawl it is not normal and it a sign that a child is no developing optimally. By 8 months old you want a 4 point classic crawl to know that your child is on track with optimal development. A child is not getting the developmental experiences they need to thrive when army crawling. And yes development should just happen, the crawl just happens because the baby sees something and they want to go get it. If a baby gets on all fours and falls to the belly, optimal development is not happening in their system. A baby that can 4 point classic crawl will go to an army crawl when trying to go under something, but the army crawl is merited and if you compare this baby's army crawl to that is even in this video, the army crawls are completely different. A baby that can't get off the floor, there is a problem and that can be minor to very very serious.

    • @Jonakaiii
      @Jonakaiii Před 2 dny

      You’re a fool spreading this false information. For anyone concerned and reading this… army crawling is completely normal per my child’s pediatrician who happens to be by cousins wife. Thanks.

    • @movementlesson
      @movementlesson  Před dnem

      For optimal development 4 point crawling is by 8 months old. If you are okay with army crawling, you are okay with non-optimal development.
