A bizarre, sometimes very slow-speed chase, all began when police say a Baytown newlywed threatened his wife of just two weeks.

It all started in Baytown as a 911 call for a disturbance at about 7:45 a.m. Baytown police say 42-year-old Eric Brown reportedly threatened his wife with a gun and fired a shot. When officers arrived, the man got into the vehicle and took off, with police in pursuit.
Law enforcement agencies pursued Brown across the east and south sides of Houston, into the Galleria area at one point.
Police say there were reports that he had a weapon and a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The news lady said "I see gun fire" and "They're letting the dog in" none of that happened. I hope you never have to testify as a witness!

I always wondered why they don’t have a police drone to fly up to check things out and watch their hands. Once the drone is up close watching, you instruct the suspect to get out of the vehicle and then you can see hands and all.

In my state they Hp only allow 3 units in a pursuit-the primary, the secondary (who calls out the locations) and a Sgt-who makes the major decisions. The only time an allied agency is allowed is if they initiated the pursuit and turned it over to the HP. I've never seen so many cops involved. Seemed like over kill. Although it appeared to look like they could've stopped this WAY before hand, we don't have the details they did as to why they didn't. However, it seemed weird to me they moved that patrol vehicle and the guy got away again.

The cop that had the front of the suspects' car blocked was moving out of way for SWAT vehicle to move in. The idiot cop instead of backing up (while keeping vehicle blocked) went forward which allowed the suspect to go forward and get away. Go back and watch the tape. The cop needs to go back to strategic driving classes.

A harrowing slow speed pursuit in Houston. At times reaching speeds as high as 5 mph dodging in and out of lanes putting people in danger of slight bruising and causing freeway goers to nod off to sleep on their way to work. Yeah, I saw a video from there. Guy in the chopper UNLOADED on the runner and got his attention. He KNEW they weren't playing and would take him out in a heartbeat. Cops here though must be mindful that it could be someone on meds, or since the bomb squad was following maybe a bomb in the vehicle. It's frustrating to watch, especially when they have him stopped and surrounded. You wonder why not use bean bags to take out a window and fill the car with CS gas. Police in the USA do not turn guns on civilians as if they are at war with enemy combatants. We still have rights here that guarantee people don't have to die if they are trying to escape, unless there is immediate danger to innocent civilians in the vicinity. That guy in the video I watched was shooting at that truck when there were other cars passing and I don't care how great a sharpshooter he is, he is not flying the chopper and cannot know that he won't miss and hit an innocent driver instead. We do have law enforcement agencies in California that are allowed to shoot from the air, but the protocol is not so haphazard as Brazil's appears to be.
