They didn't have to animate much for this scene. They were literally given everything from Disney to create the scene, including the original files for the bonesworks and animations. So.... Yeah. This is a copy and paste job with some camera tweeks.
It took a couple of viewings before I realized that they didn't just copy and paste parts of the musical number. I give my highest praise to the animators for being able to accomplish such a feat on the UnReal game engine! True, but Tangled as a movie has a lot more going for it than just it's song. Frozen on the other hand is basically an hour and a half music video for this song. So ya kinda need to include it.
ArchangelExile not from that perspective. We only see the platform that Elsa is on rising up in the original. We don’t see what it looks like from far away

You kidding me? Asia is all over Frozen even several years after the movie came out. It’s milked to hell in Korea, Japan, and China in a lot of the merchandise. And that’s just in Korea, Japan, and China. Frozen is the cash cow for some reason in Asia alongside other things.

So I see a lot of comments (not just on this video but others) hammering in this negativity about "Copy-Paste-Reuse" etc. etc., and frankly with as much respect as I can muster, you have no understanding of this significance of this scene. - - - First off, Nomura himself in like several interview stated how he was permitted by Disney to use and port ACTUAL assets from the films into the game itself and then essential utilize those pre-done frameworks and rework them into the Unreal Engine (hence the near photo-realistic side by side of all the animated characters from Pixar and Disney Animation studios). For those who have been asking, this IS a pre-rendered scene not an in-game scene (you can notice the textural change on Sora and his pals to see this, however it should be noted the difference is still quite sparse considering the animations used in-game are from the same UR engine as in Pre-Rendered). Second, this was not a flat out copy and paste. I suggest watching both THIS and the ACTUAL scene from Frozen side by side and you will notice MANY things different: Her hair is missing some animations with her bangs and even when she lets her hair down its not as fluid (even if they fixed that animation edit from the actual film with her ponytail), her face while VERY animated in terms of movement is missing some key movements during some close ups involving her eyes and cheeks and how her lips move compared to the film, when she starts making her dress white and icy, she does not actually even make the same MOVEMENTS for like 3 seconds until she lifts up her arms for the sleeves. The Lighting itself when she walks out onto the balcony is nowhere NEAR the same quality as in the Film. - - - The point I am trying to drive in: This was a LOT of hard work CLEARLY trying to painstakingly (through use of a different animation engine) re-create something with like 3 times its budget and potential processing power, and (I don't care how much flak I get for this part) if you honestly think this was just some "copy-paste-reuse" throw in just because Disney blah blah, you have no respect for the people who came together to create this scene. - - - - Considering how close it actually is to the film is unprecedented!!! I think this is a TRUE showcase of the capability of the Unreal Engine and I for one would love to see either Films/TV/ or frankly even more games utilize it for new things. - - - For the record, I am not saying you have to LIKE the scene, or the Song, or that you cannot wish they had done something more in terms of integrating Sora into the scene to make it unique to its OG source material for the sake of Kingdom Hearts itself, OR for that matter that this is not trying to re-create what was already done in the film (although I truly do believe THAT was the point!!!) do not try to pretend that this was some simply cut and dry task for the developers.
JadeDragon1016 you know what I heard that they did the same thing with the toy story characters which I thought was rather impressive and you know what, it’s really really neat how the animations in the game make sequences like Let It Go look almost exactly like it was taken from the actual movie
I never thought I'd love let it go again. My sisters would sing it so much than I would just ignore the song's existance. But kingdom hearts 3 did such a good job with it I couldn't help singing along
I thought of Let It Go when I witnessed Woody.EXE’s Palace rise from my back field and I was in Mummy’s room when it happened. The palace looked so incredible that even Woody.EXE would eventually let me in since I’m his Queen. His palace was pure ice and the horrible blood from the EXE universe dripping down the palace walls but the palace still looked beautiful no matter what. I’m STILL in complete shock and disbelief. This looks _exactly_ like the original scene from Frozen! I just can’t get over how identical the game creators made it look. At first I thought they borrowed the scene from the movie! That’s how incredibly similar it looks! Amazing!!!!! ❄️❄️❄️
Aww. Left out my favorite part of this: When Sora (someone who has seen and done as much as HIM) is left just straight up mystified by this whole "performance" to the point of being essentially speechless
They really missed an opportunity with not giving us an actual Elsa boss fight. She was originally conceived to be the actual villain of Frozen, and Disney even had a design all made up for her. Considering that Larxene's entire reason for being in the Frozen world was to make Elsa succumb to darkness, it would have been quite a moment to fight her wearing her villain attire, only for her to be pulled back.
@@dinorex3464 Yeah, I learned this a while ago. A shame, but I understand about Disney not wanting to tarnish the reputation of their biggest cash cow since Mickey himself. Still, I could easily imagine it being fought to a dark arrangement of "Let It Go" by Yoko Shimomura. She could have even been "piloting" the actual boss that got used.
@@Capnbritish 24 fps is standard for films. Most theaters can't project past 24fps, and given that television is at 25fps in most of the world, 24fps works pretty well. Your brain fills in the details between, or many consumer TVs nowadays offer interpolation. There's no reason to go past 24fps and have to render extra frames, especially in an animated film, or films with a lot of CGI. It's not like a game that's rendering whatever needs to be displayed on the fly, and where reaction time might matter, so higher frame rates matter. Additionally, 24fps lends a film a sort-of distance from reality, which is the "cinematic feel" people talk about. Audiences actually enjoy this. The latest Hobbit film was screened in 48 fps at select theaters, and audiences ended up feeling disoriented. 24fps is a magic framerate for film that is both efficient and well-liked.

Christian Boustani They made it look more natural and realistic. In the movie, the second she pulls her hair down, it just literally falls down, like as if it goes straight through her arm. This one is definitely pre-rendered. The hair textures don't match in-game models at all, which makes sense, since this was a scene that had to look INCREDIBLE.
@@Capnbritish That's actually not how it's done, but okay. I definitely noticed some compression artifacts when I played the game. Why have such a stark difference between this scene and other "in-game" scenes? This one, along with quite a few of the cutscenes in The Caribbean were pre-rendered.
@Captian British - No, this one's 100% pre-rendered. That's not hard to see at all. Just compare it to any other normal in-game CUTSCENE, and you'll see the difference clearly.

I like how they had Elsa offscreen for the first part so they wouldn't have to animate her taking off the glove
With all those animations in this game, i think that would be piece of cake
@@mertb.297 Manipulating clothing in ways like this seems to be extremely difficult; far more than the layman would expect. For example, in The Incredibles, one effect Pixar was super proud of was Edna sticking her hand through the hole in Bob's old costume. Not any of the spectacular shots, displays of powers, or action scenes, sticking a hand through a hole in a costume.
Of course, I'm only assuming this is why; because it's funny. It may just be they didn't want to focus on the less-interesting camera shots in Let it Go.
Its sure hard, i am not that close to animation but since im in the industry i know a little, but after everything they did especially pirates of Caribbean world (omg it still blows my mind) taking a glove off is nothing for them
@@mertb.297 Like I said, I was just guessing and the guess was funny and it's also possible they just wanted to fill in the less visually-interesting bits with Sora and friends.
This is truly a feat of gaming to have an almost scene-for-scene replica and have it be so accurate to the original source!
That is true, especially when the Frozen world was basically the weakest level of KHIII due to Disney's meddling.
They did even better than that. They corrected the animation error where Elsa's braid clips through her shoulder.
Idina re-recorded it and did all the voice acting. All new and improved!
@benbreeck3363 I can't actually tell if it's fixed or if they hid the error by changing the camera at that moment.

True, but Tangled as a movie has a lot more going for it than just it's song. Frozen on the other hand is basically an hour and a half music video for this song. So ya kinda need to include it.

We've always seen the castle forming from the outside, even in the original.
ArchangelExile not from that perspective. We only see the platform that Elsa is on rising up in the original. We don’t see what it looks like from far away
Celine Foster sure, but what annoys me is that they don’t stop it rising once the next line starts with the classic thud, whereas in the original, when she slams her hands down, the platform comes to a halt instantly

This was so visually impressive. The fact they took the time to recreate this scene is amazing.

my FAVORITE part about this is that the animators went out of their way to fix the hair passing through the shoulder error at 3:03. It’s such a minor thing but I find it hilarious that it bothered someone else enough to change 😂
Well said. :) I love the effort they put in this too.

It's confirmed that this was Nomura's original idea, but Disney forced him to scrap it because they didn't want Elsa or Anna to do any fighting.
@@dinorex3464 Yeah, I learned this a while ago. A shame, but I understand about Disney not wanting to tarnish the reputation of their biggest cash cow since Mickey himself.

@@Capnbritish 6 whole frames 😂😂😂
2013 graphics vs 2018 graphics also helps a lot.
(Yes, I'm well aware that it's 2019, but this game wasn't developed this year)
