It's crazy seeing all the dancers I came through with! I remember have a great time making this video with the darling, divine Evelyn. So many faces and hearts to remember and a wonderful experience!! Wow, 1984!! 🎶💕❤🎵😊👍🏼
She can dance as good as sings. I'm in awe at her tone, and her timing is so tight, that what makes all her songs so nice to hear. It is an honour to be able to see her dance her songs too. Her timing is so tight it looks like the notes she reaches are 'cathartic' like the notes create the moves and vice versa. Did she bring her own moves to the choreography? Thanks
@@Sapocati There was a choreographer, though I cannot recall who it was. I do believe Evelyn was able to decide many of her moves since she is a wonderful dancer. She is s lovely person as well and a wonderful vocalist!
She was so heavily identified with Disco it was kind of hard to live it down. I live in Canada and they never played her or any other R & B Songs on The Radio.
I met her in the '90s. I was supposed to be performing a choreographed ABBA lip sync with another girl for a contest that ended up not happening, even though we were in costume and looked much like them. We were the only contestants that showed up, so we said, "We won!!" But, they didn't even let us perform. :( Evelyn was in concert. It was wonderful! Loved her dance moves! She and I were crossing paths in a narrow space and she insisted I go first. I wanted to say, "I love your music so much! I wanted to be like you, when I was 8 and you were 17 and I saw you on American Bandstand!!" I just said, "Oh, thank you," though. Lol I've seen her a couple other times. If you get a chance to see her in concert, GO!!!!!!!
There were so many fantastic Singers like her back in the day but nobody of this Generation knows who she is or Teena Marie. (RIP). Hey did you know that was the name of a Character on The UK Soap Opera Emmerdale. I don't think the Writers realized what they did.
One of the things I love about Hip-hop back in the day, the videos were really about our neighborhoods. Real street dancing. Early videos, from R&B artists showcased dancers who appeared to be from Alvin Ailey troops. Nothing was wrong with that, but hip hop brought more of an edge.

I don't know why people slept on this song. This is one of her best songs and one of my favorites.

I still love this ACTIOn in 2021! Who else does??
This underrated gem charted during the fall of my senior year of high school. My youth beckons. Epic times those were.
You forever beautiful Queen King 😘
I cant believe I still remember all the words to this song! I love Evelyn Champagne King!
This 1984 hit is still a jam to me and I can still JAM to it in my early 50's! Evelyn is timeless!

laminage um, I'm 17. Soooo, don't say "this generation" cause there are some People who love the oldies.
I stand corrected. Many kids have no idea of R & B singers at least the ones I know
They need to know all the singers who paved the way for all the news ones It's sad that they never heard of these singers before.
The 80's had real jams!
Aint nuthin' like them Jeri Curl jams....
All I see is palm trees on that bridge of this song
I waited the entire halirious dance clip iv ever seen for the action to happen.
This is sSTILL my JAM in 2018!!1 ACTION!!! What dancing ACTION!
