The sound's a lot better than the early recordings but the performances have lost something.
Yes. I just read his bio and he admitted that he didn't put his heart into some of his performances. I think he took the church's stance that the blues was the " devil's" music snd wouldn't inspire people.
@@giovanna8187 Interesting. I thought he might just have been sick of playing the same songs for 30 years! And to be fair I don't think that was ever 'the church's stance' exactly, although it was a common belief among Revivalists / Evangelicals at one time.
