  • What does it take to start a shed build business? Anthony Taylor-Weber started his shed manufacturing company Outdoor Office out of his garage in 2019 and has already grown it into a 7-figure business. We’ll find out how in today’s interview.
This video is sponsored by Fiverr.

Anthony didn’t set out to have a career in the manufacturing industry. He worked in construction after college, leading him to start his first business as a home inspector. After a year of running the business from his kitchen table, he needed a dedicated space and started building a shed as an outdoor office. When his wife posted pictures of the shed to Instagram, his friends and family all wanted an Outdoor Office of their own, and he turned his idea into a business.
Today, we’ll find out what steps Anthony took to start Outdoor Office and grow it into a vibrant, thriving business. He’ll share his shed building process, how he designs the spaces, and where he sources the materials and contractors he uses to make it happen.
Outdoor Office didn’t even have a location yet when they first started. Anthony started the company out of his garage, expanding into a new space in 2020 to double their footprint. We’ll get his advice on the size of space that’s ideal for a shed building business, and how he keeps growing his revenue with a small staff of just 5 employees.
If you own or want to start a business building sheds, you’ll want to hear the insights in this video! You can learn more about Outdoor Office at www.outdoor-office.com/.

If I can solve a personal problem first, there are high chances that I can solve it for someone else too and that someone could be close to me. Just like how Antony found someone in his church group.
After the first customer, I would then go ahead and compile everything that went right and wrong. Strengthen the right things and find solutions for the stuff that I did wrong.

@@UpFlip absolutely. I started life as a mechanic then a logger. After I was injured I went back to school and got a degree in computer science. I spent my career as an IT consultant and was fortunate enough to work in several different countries and several different industries. None of that ever satisfied my desire to own and operate my own company doing something that produced tangible results. Software systems, while necessary never gave me the satisfaction and enjoyment I was looking for. Building home offices provides those opportunities and allows for a great deal of creativity.

If it's a portable shed/movable, no need for permits if the square footage is small enough. An RV plug eliminates the need for an L&I electrical inspection. With this you spend 40k, right that 40k off your taxes, have an office that you can use for the next 20 years rent free, plus it increases the value of your home, so if you sell or refinance you'll probably be able to get most if not all or more than that 40k back. If you play it right itll atleast pay for itself, it may even make you money, and you don't have to commute, throw away money on rent, or deal with a land lord.

@@TheRussianWookieI didn't say dumb people like you aren't born every day. You can get the shed built way... cheaper. I'm speaking from a value standpoint. I've built 5 sheds. Mine take less than 6 hours to make and less than $2000. They are very high quality. They only sold for $5k-10k on the high side. Your saying I can pop drywall, electricity, and a/c in there and inrease my price to 35k.... Bunch of Fools out there. That's like a 30k profit for 2 days work. And that's me working alone. I can copy his shed in less than 1 day with a good crew. It's a insane return thats rarely aseen in any business strategy. And for you to think its normal shows me your not a entrepreneur.
