- In this video José Brito shows us how to paint and weathering cobblestones all in acrylics from the Acrylics Vallejo range. Cobblestone work is a constant presence in the scale modelling world. No matter if you are a tank, car, bike or figure modeller, sooner or later you will need to make a cobblestone base. So, do not miss the chance to watch this video!
That is amazing how that came out.
For those wondering how the cobblestone are made: He carves them by hand. The base is a cheap picture frame from the discount store, already painted and mitered.
Check out a video called Vallejo Water Textures. In that video, there is a brief, fast moving vignette of pics that hint at his cobblestone process. You will want to pause the video on each frame.
Also, go to their site acrylicosvallejos.com and click on Tutoriales and check out the Water Textures tutorial PDF. It shoes how to prime and paint bricks and sidewalk.
Hey Jose, if you made a video tutorial on how to carve the bricks, we would have a stronger need for Vallejo paints and washes. :)
Great tutorial, many thanks!
Magnífico video!!! tomo nota para mis dioramas.muchas gracias😉
Thanks for the video. Excellent moor please 👍
Nice tutorial, thanks!...Bill
Nice turorial but at around 1:50 a light wash is applied then there is a cut and some edge highlights have been added and some stones are suddenly a red colour, so I assume a few or one or two steps have been skipped ?
Yeah I thought the same, was looking for a full tutorial. Disappointing TBH.
Yes, a few stones were brush painted later. Just to show that vallejo paints can be applied over vallejo weathering effects.
@@vallejocolors Ah thank you, that was not stated in the video.
Excellent! thanks! :)
Use water to mix colors is amazing
Great video, the results are superb. Is there a tutorial anywhere on painting the concrete pavement? I'd like to know how you did that.
Steve.
Hello. Check this one: czcams.com/video/DZtX7xaJP7g/video.html. We hope this can help you. Regards!
Great tutorial! I’d love to know what the cobblestones were made from. Were they foam or cast plaster? I tend to build out of xps foam and want to be sure these techniques will apply. Thanks
They are made in Balsa Foam. Carved one by one with the help of a steel ruler and a scalpel blade.
The video shows using Vallejo Black primer, but having purchase said primer, its a real black, the one used in the video is more of a grey?
Hello Charles! Maybe lightning conditions used when recording the video shows a different tone, but yes, our primer is black. You can always spray or airbrush a super-smooth layer of grey before using black primer in order to increase and reveal the volumes and start painting in an easier way :)
@@vallejocolors Thank you, I had sprayed a light grey base coat to start, will try again
some steps were skipped in the video and the high speed spin of the piece in the and doesn't help to understand the final look.
interesting techiques but the video production is a bit sloppy
is the base foam?
Yes, it is Balsa foam.
What is the material of the base? How you make it? Is it handmade? Have you got a tutorial to made it?
The base is made in Balsa Foam. Carved with the help of a steel ruler and a scalpel blade. Tutorial soon.
Thank you very much! I wait for it!
Yeah, looks like they skipped a few steps. Also, colour of the cobblestones seems a bit 'off' to me. Still, really good tutorial 👍
