    I’ve made several pairs of these slippers too..and def give Stephanie credit for her pattern too 😃 when I crochet a bunch of them..I do all the soles first...I do the 4 sizes then label the soles in pairs ...small, med, lg and xlg ...and put them in a plastic bag until I’m ready to make the rest of the slipper for each...for me personally ...crocheting then sole takes more time..this way I get the sole out of the way and then onto making the rest of the slipper..I also sew suede patches on the bottom of the soles to make them non-slip..that’s my routine

    • @StephanieZed

      What a great idea for the sole. 😍

      thin strips of hot glue or little dots of fabric glue work decently too if you have nothing else

    • @rockytoronto
      @rockytoronto Před 4 lety +3

      Morbid Mary I tried that and the inside of the slipper was very uncomfortable and the recipient could feel the glue dots through the bottom of the slipper..as it isn’t padded so I had to peel off the glue dots as much as I could then I made a suede patch for the inside because I wasn’t able to remove all the glue dots..I then sewed suede patches on the bottoms..that’s only because I probably overdid it with the glue dots and made them too thick. However I think a suede patch would last longer than glue dots..you can get a bag of small suede patches in different colors on Amazon

    Items you will need.
    Any color medium weight yarn.
    4.5mm crochet hook
    Darning needle
    Scissors
    Measuring tape
    Working a Medium size shoe sole. Shoe size 7-8 US or 37 - 39 EU.
    Start with a slip knot.
    Chain (ch) 28 keeping tension tight.
    2 SC in second chain from the hook
    18 SC, 1 in each SC across.
    3 HDC, 1 in each of the next 3stitches
    4 DC,1 in each of next 4 stitches
    7 DC in the last Chain.
    Now work the other side of the chain being careful not to miss a stitch.
    4 DC, one in each of the next 4 stitches.
    3 HDC, 1 in each of the next 3 stitches.
    18 SC, 1 in each of the next 18 stitches to the end.
    Put one SC into the beginning stitch.
    Slip Stitch (SS) into the top of the first SC to join.
    Round 1 = 60 Stitches. Approximately 6.5 inches or 17 cm.
    Start round 2 with a Chain 1, SC in the same stitch.
    2 SC into the next stitch.
    26 SC, 1 in each of the next 26 stitches.
    Now working around the toe, we will put 2 SC in each of the next 5 Stitches.
    Now do 26 SC, 1 in each SC down the side.
    2 SC in the next stitch.
    SS into top of first SC. Not in the first of round 1 but in the top of first SC of round 2.
    R2 =67 Stitches
    For Round 3 start with a chain 1. Then do 2 SC in the same stitch.
    1 SC in the next stitch.
    Then 2 SC in the next stitch.
    Now do 26 SC down the side, 1 SC in each stitch.
    Working around the toe, (1 SC, 2 SC) - 5 times …. (one in first stitch, 2 in next, do 5 times)
    Now continue down the side 26 SC, 1 SC in each stitch.
    2 SC, 1 SC, 2 SC to finish. (2 SC in next stitch, 1 SC in then next, then 2 SC in the next.)
    (Not doing the instruction after this round just the Stitches.)
    SS to join in the top of the first SC of the first stitch in the round.
    Round 3 = 77 Stitches.
    Chain 1. Start in the same stitch SC, SC, 2 SC, SC, 2 SC.
    Now continue with 26 SC down the side.
    Working around the toe. (1 HDC, 2 HDC, 1 HDC) 5 times.
    Now continue with 26 SC down the side.
    2 SC, SC, 2 SC, SC, SC. To finish the row.
    SS to join with first chain of the row.
    Round 4 = 86 Stitches
    Round 5 Chain 1
    Start in the same stitch.
    SC, SC, 2 SC.
    30 SC til reach the toe.
    Working around the toe we're going to do
    6 HDC, 2 HDC in same stitch,
    6 HDC, 2 HDC in same stitch,
    6 HDC.
    30 SC down the side.
    2 SC, SC, SC.
    Round 5 = 90 stitches
    Measure sole at this point if is good length you can stop here. If not go another round using 1 SC in each stitch to make it a little bit longer. Everyone's will be a little bit different as we all stitch a different tension. Do not Join to finish.
    We will now finish with an invisible close. Cut string to leave enough to sew in.
    With your darning needle, insert into top of first SC as you would with your crochet needle. Come back to the previous stitch and go through the back loop of the last SC you made. You have just created an Extra Stitch or “V” for a perfect finish. Pull yarn to the back, weave ends in and tie off.
    Final Measurements is about 9.5 inches or 24 cm.

    @Stephanie Zed Thank you so much for these videos. There is something very satisfying watching you crochet. I love everything about your video and that you add the text. I'm working on pair #4 at the moment. I do have 2 questions though. First one is for the soles. If I wanted to make 2 with stuffing in between, how would you suggest I go about connecting those without altering the rest of the shoe? (slip stitch, sc, etc? before adding white yarn to blo?) My 2nd question is for the shoe itself. I always seem to have an extra piece of yarn in the middle of the first lace hole but not the other holes. Is there a way to avoid this or am I doing something wrong here? Thanks again!!

    • @StephanieZed
      @StephanieZed  Před 2 lety +2

      For the sole, I have never done that, however, try making the inside sole the size smaller. On the last round of the outside sole, stitch them together. That might work. The other thing you could do is double the yarn for the sole to make it thicker.(you might have to go down a size). For the second question, I use my starting end of the yarn to "adjust" the eyelet. I think I might fast forward that part.😃

      I know what you mean. I was doing a shoe that I saw and they used a 1.70 and I used a 1.75. was much larger. Who would have thought that .05 would have made that much difference but it does. The # of stitches really adds up. Anyone know how to adjust a pattern by the needle size? I am not certain how but think there should be a way to do it. I am thinking it would be like half a stitch per inch in my case but not sure. It came out about a size 9 when was for a size 7. :( LOL They were using a #10 cotton thread doubled I believe. I had to guess at the size as they didn't give one. It was in Turkish.

    Couple of questions: should have sizes go up a size? And when creating the sole, while doing the first single stitches I noticed you wrap the yarn to the right on the first and to the left on the second stitch. Does it matter?

    • @StephanieZed
      @StephanieZed  Před 3 lety +1

      I do a yarn under. It just makes the stitch tighter. It is more like an “x” rather than a “v” in the stitch. Either way is fine. I don’t understand your first question. But make the sole just a bit smaller than your foot. It does stretch.
