Hi Bud, I have an SL and have shot a couple of weddings with it. I did feel rather on my own setting it up - it's not at all like a Nikon or Sony. I'd have been very pleased if I'd found your video first - I may not use the same settings as you but going through the logic in the way you do helps figure out the choices. I'm now using the SLwith the 24-90 and am absolutely loving the beast - the image iq is fantastic and is all you ever need to prove raw pixel count isn't really the issue - a good camera is rather a judicious mix of lens, sensitive material, processor and of course the on camera controls.I love the SL's simplicity and flexibility. There were so many choices on my D810 I was just ignoring most of them and using manual aperture, manual shutter speed, back button focussing - well the truth is that's how I use the Leica too, I just feel more in control of it. Now I've acquired a Q as my second camera - maybe you should get your dealer friend to loan you one of those. The set up on it is simpler anyway. Good luck!
Hi Bud. What's your opinion on the electronic viewfinder especially when you're shooting in dark scenarios? Does it degrade or is it bright enough for you? Great insight!
Hi Bud, Interesting video. i am not the person who read the manuals. I like the way how you explain the settings. Its now to me logical. I had problems to set the iso in higher modus. I didn't realize you have to accept the setting to push the right lower button. Thank you this problem is also solved. By the way, it is a really fantastic camera. I bought the summilux 50 mm f2 for low light situations. But the 24-90 is also outstanding. I had some problems in the electronic shutter modus. Some lights are seen in the images with black stripes. In de normal shutter mode it is no issue and has no stripes. Did you know this? is was new to me or is it a typical Leica issue? Leo Sikkenga the Netherlands.
Hey Ruth! I've been doing some digging, and this is DEFINITELY an issue many people are experiencing. It's super annoying to me, too. lol. I'll keep doing some digging and let you know if I find anything else out about the issue. For now - just gotta drop those shutter speeds! :/
Thanks Bud. Meanwhile i enjoy photographing with the Leica. Beautiful. Next investment will be the SL50/1.4 Today i checked out the 50/0.95. what a beast. i don't like the price. I checked your wedding pictures. `is this the Noctilux wide open?
This is a lighting issue, not the SL. I use the SL for event and theatre photography and, depending on the frequency that the lights display at, you get banding sometimes. Happens with the Sony A7 series of cameras as well.I just use trial and error to find the optimum shutter speed to stick to and it's no longer a problem. It's a little more complicated if there is a mix of lighting types used at the same time!
Hey Bud! I have a question I hope you can help me with. I have an SL and want to use Profoto. I started with an A1 which I can trigger just fine but when I put an Air Remote in between, it wont work! I am using a Canon version one, do you know if any trigger work? Thanks in advance!
Hey brother! I tried it and didn't really see a big enough difference in output to justify the purchase, lol 🤷♂️ Still a super rad system, just not an upgrade I needed!
Great stuff, any more videos about the SL and how you use it would be great. With respect to the electronic shutter have you noticed any rolling shutter effects with it or problems with specific lights?
Hi Ad, See my reaction to Bud a few seconds ago. I had the same problems with the electronic shutter. Really black stripes in the images with a lot of FL lights. No problems with normal light. Leo Sikkenga
Thank you Leo. The black stripes have to do with the frequency of the lights and the shutter speed. For lower speeds (I think 1/50 or 1/60) you should not see black stripes with the electronic shutter.
not at all. I shoot weddings with the SL, M10 and Q as they help my style the best and the type of weddings I shoot yield best to the equipment I use. There is nothing like the M10 sensor and a Noctilux/75 lux combination www.mirrorlessness.com/blogs/leica-for-weddings/
As soon as clowns like you say “what’s up guys” I stop watching.
What's up guy - I hope you have a great day!
Wonderful content ❤
I just bought one! Thanks for sharing! I do weddings too! Very helpful!

Bud, what hot shoe camera flash did you used for your Leica SL camera in weddings?
Nice video. What lens do you recommend for weddings? Thanks
Bud thank you for sharing!

Hey Bud 0 hope you are keeping well! Have you tried the SL2-s? What options are there for flash use with the SL? Cheers

yep, exactly this! I had some crazy lines when a make up artist brought in some LEDs - I had to lower my shutter speed to sub 1/50!
Thanks for sharing your experience

Great advice, Mohammed - I'll make a few video in a few days with some images from a few weddings!
