  • On June 25, 2024, I embarked on my last storm chase adventure in Western Ohio. The weather forecast for the day indicated a Marginal/Slight Risk in that area. As I scanned the horizon, I noticed storm clouds forming to the North, heralding the approach of a potentially intense weather event. I quickly got into my car and headed East to stay ahead of the growing storm. As I drove, the storm was issued a severe warning for 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail.
Before I could chase the storm, I had to make a quick stop at a gas station to refuel. After refueling, I hurried towards the town of Mutual, Ohio, where the storm was headed. Despite the storm weakening as I approached, I was able to capture two stunning cloud-to-ground lightning strikes and a beautiful shelf cloud. Just as the storm passed over me, I witnessed one final striking display of cloud-to-ground lightning before the storm dissipated. Disappointed by the storm's retreat, I decided to head back home. Along the way, I made a pit stop in Springfield to check the radar and noticed the storms were regaining strength. Determined to stay ahead of the weather, I resumed my journey.
As I left Springfield, I observed a storm to the East of Dayton, Ohio, gaining strength. I attempted to pursue it, but it was positioned too far South and began to weaken as I neared it. Therefore, I made the decision to end the chase and treat myself to some Wendy's.
