The Hazara are popularly known as descendants of the Mongols, but what truth is there to this? Are they descended from troops left behind from Chinggis Khan? We discuss the possibilities here, as well as present a short overview of their later history.

@@QuanHoang-qd1ye for sure! I am very interested in them as well, and that Dynasty is actually rather influential for the shape of 12th century Mongolia. I found I've mentioned them a lot, but never done much to focus on the Liao specifically. I have been gathering lots of interesting stuff on their cities and forts within Mongolia, for example, but want to do more on them once I get a chance.

I have taught advanced English to several Mongolian soldiers who worked as guards of US bases in Afghanistan. Afghans were very friendly towards them, and many natives told them that they were Hazaras, and Hazaras and Mongols are brothers. One of the interesting fact about the origin of the Hazaras is that the Turco-Mongol people who moved to Bamiyan region were not solely consisted of male soldiers. There were significant amount of East Asian women with them. I'm Hazara myself and my maternal haplogroup is D4c2 which is common in Siberian and Mongolian people. There are diffrent concept of Hazara religion.
some historian believes that Hazaras converted to islam by recieving a letter from Nephew of Hazrat ali Jaadat bin Habira before death of Hazrat Ali .
where according to Historian Rashidullah Fazulallah, Hazaras or better called the people located in central afghanistan converted to Shia Islam in between 1246-1284 century by son of Halaku khan (the grandson of Chengiz khan) who himself converted from budhism to shia Islam. but moving forward in 1880s by attack of abdur rehman some of hazaras and nuristani people of nuristan province were forced or had to convert to Sunni Islam.
      1. If your question is only about being killed. i must say from every tribes people have been killed not only hazaras. but if you mean being trageted and killed so only shia hazaras is being targeted and killed.
      2. Sunni hazaras are living all over the globe. but mostly in afghanistan in Baghlan province, Badakhshan province, Ghour province and Panjsher province. in Pakistan In karchi Gulshan Iqbal and peshawar(when I was in pakistan i met them in karachi). Hazaras are Hazaras. We are Turkic and later on when mongol attacked us yes we do have like everybody around the world mongol ancestry. We speak Persian dialect and we are the first ethnic groups of Afghanistan.
    WE ARE NOT MONGOLIAN!!!!!
Nor THE DESCENDENT OF THE SOLDIERS LEFT BEHIND But maybe got mixed with few of them. We were/are spread all around Afghanistan. And we had an empire GHORIAN. It’s sad that this video didn’t talk about that nor when Hazaras rebelled not once but multiple times against Abdul Rahman and Pashtun nomads when they taking over their lands/ country (KHORASAN) or now Afghanistan we were massacred and the genocide continues till this day sadly. That’s why there are a lot of confusion about us being mongol or many other thing which we are not. We speak Persian dialect which has nothing to do with mongols. But that dialect (hazaragi) does have a lot of Turkic/Turkish rather then Mongolian When listening to Turkish I see a lot of similarities but not even one in Mongolian. as a HAZARA most of this information is completely wrong. I hope you can talk about everything when talking about Hazaras not just us getting massacred or being Mongolian which we are not but our empires and the time we ruled and us Hazaras the first people of Afghanistan!!!

But now that I look in the mirror, I mostly resemble local Middle Eastern people like Tajiks, Aimaqs, Iranians and sometimes Pathan in Pakistan. It has uptil now brought somewhat of an identity crisis in my life, but alhamdulilah I feel more content with knowing more about my family origins day by day. The best thing about being Hazara for me is, that some can look Asian and some can look Caucasian (e.g. Sayed and Bayat Hazaras) yet can both be from the same family/tribe of Hazaras. Mashallah I am proud to be a Hazara and being part of this diversity.

I am a Mongol. Hazaras are not direct descendants of Genghis khan's Mongols. Hazara people were living in central Afghanistan from ancient time. In the 11-th century, Afganistan was the western frontier of Kara Kitan. This time certain Mongolic Kitan people settled down in Hazara land. They were Buddists and they built the Budda monuments. In 14-th century, some Ilkhanate Mongols came to Hazara land after Ilkhanate disintegrated in Iran. They were Shia Muslims. Hazaras are not the descendants of Genghiskhan soldiers. Hazaras are proud owners of their land from ancient time. Throughout history, they mixed two times with Mongolic people.
