I can't say for sure how Hacksaw Ridge compares to other war films since I haven't seen many war films, and I haven't seen Private Ryan yet either, but Hacksaw Ridge was amazing.
Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge, and Fury defined WW2 movies. Band of Brothers & The Pacific helped nail it home. The greatest of men fought and died, the lucky ones made it home. Welcome home gents, and may the final years of your lives be filled with joy ❤
Watched it again in the cinema last night for the 25th anniversary I also got to watch it on the big screen 4 years ago on D day. And man what an absolute masterpiece easily my favourite war movie and perosnal favourite movie of all time absolute masterpiece.
Been planning to watch this soon. I literally just realized that this movie came out in 1998. I thought it came out when I was like 12 for some reason, which would have been around 2009.
This movie, the painist and shindlers list still remains the only 3 movies in my life where i have got a bucket of popcorn and a drink and not touched them at all. Fabulous movie.
@@altguitardemos6608 that’s the point of a trailer. If you watch the movie and are surprised by people being blown to bits then the movie had a bad trailer.
@@puddin1334 You can't get certified by putting a trailer out that features graphic violence. Interestingly enough, the levels of graphic violence featured in SPR would ordinarily mean it gets certified as an 18. It's 'historical significance' meant the BBFC gave it a 15.
Special thanks to you for putting in the title as 'Saving Private Ryan' and not 'saving private ryan'. It still bugs me... I don't know who did it, but I never liked the typesetting.
Where did this America go? Not the one the movie is set in. The one the movie was made in. We knew we had fought fascism, and in 1998 we still knew why: its evil was obvious.
@1998, I guess, it was The Best Trailer, considering a war movie, with Tom Hanks Cast and Spielberg behind the camera Don't know what you found Bad Watch 1975, Al Pacino, Dog Day Afternoon
It’s easy to hate him, but I think he represents the audience, since that’s what 99% of the people watching this movie would do. I highly doubt anyone then and now could come close to his bravery in simply agreeing to go on what is essentially a suicide mission. There are some people who could, but those people understand and agree with what upham does and doesn’t do.

How did Shakespeare in Love win best picture over this still baffles me to this day. Truly a Masterpiece
I agree, also how did hanks not get beat actor...
@@RandomKid009it don’t look good but know it’s famous
Because was a 40 years old technique called Bleach bypass nothing new nothing original. 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️
Particularly because it had a relevance that surpassed that of SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE-a fine movie, but lacking the scope of this one.
Still the best there is. Keep watching it over and over.
idk, what about All Quiet on the Western Front
