    I lived in Sanur for 6years before moving to Lovina 4 years ago…my time in Sanur was wonderful….i rentet a 2br house in a family compound for $6000 aud per year…no pool but the house was otherwise complete including WiFi…my cost of living was around $50-$60 per day all inclusive…rent/power/food/Travel ins/daily coffee on the beach/water/transport/visa/entertainment etc….i used local transport or my trusty bike…i met daily with friends on the beach for coffee..there was no time to be bored!…i enjoyed netflix and CZcams generally….knowing where to shop for food was important…dairy products were always expensive but i still treated myself…i dont use alcohol but smokes are included in my budget….i rarely cooked at Home…the local warungs did it much more cheaply than i could….thank you for your insight into living costs in Bali…..i manage to have a good life on my limited budget….my only regret was not making the permanent move here much earlier….cheers…👍

    24,000,000 IDR = $1,567.86 USD sounds like a great cost of living to me. My mortgage alone on Florida was @ $1200/month! And, I didn't have a pool and definitely no massages each week!

    It might be more than you thought but you’re not getting an equivalent lifestyle to what you’d be getting in Oz. Luxury monthly getaways, great healthy food and massages would be costing way more in Oz. Back in Canberra this week I ordered a smoothie which cost $9 but was full of added sugar. Nothing like the pure dragonfruit smoothie I was getting there every day for $3.50. Apples to apples I reckon your lifestyle would be at least 3x more expensive here. Maybe more.

    Thanks heaps for that! Very helpful. I am actually surprised that you spend so little! My main concern about moving to Bali is Health Insurance cost. I have given up because at my age it was so expensive.( Over 75.) I would love to know more about your insursnce. What Visa do you need to be on for the incredibly cheap Indonesian Insurance? Also I thought by law you had to employ a local e.g. housekeeper, gardener or whatever. I could live cheaply other than that, because of reduced eating costs. I don't eat as much as most people and I don't eat red meat. I am on a pension in Oz and I pay rent, yet I go to Bali once a year, so I live cheaply and well. I don't go out to eat and I cook every day. Thanks Kim and Berg!

    Thanks so much for sharing your living in Bali costings. What would concern me is the exchange rate as it's high against the rupiah at the moment but we only got 1500 in 1988 and during most visits have got between 5500 and 8500. I'm guessing the exchange rate won't remain high especially as Indonesia is expected to become the 4th largest economy in the world in a few years (I've forgotten how long). Sorry to be pessimistic but Singapore used to be a cheap destination but now it's dollar for dollar. I love your videos and the advice you share.

    • @budawang77
      @budawang77 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Not necessarily because the rate of inflation in Indonesia has probably been quite a lot higher than in Australia over the last decade or so. High inflation will undermine the exchange rate in the long term.

I'm guessing there's a decent amount of Western food items in that too eg butter, cheese, smallgoods?? These are what really cost us during our winter sojourns in Sanur. Having said that, I have noticed, and do admire, your financial discipline....well done. PS Can you tell I'm a retired Bank Manager lol.

  • @carlmay8314
    @carlmay8314 Před rokem +5

    That's not bad I guess for 2 people about A$615 per week or 307 each for everything. I am 1 person here in OZ and it cost me around A$700- and I don't eat out often. It depends where you live too both in Bali and Australia as obviously if you live outside tourists zones your rents will be much cheaper. I love Bali and want to spend 6 months there and six months in OZ which will pay for that. I am a person who has mini retirements every 5 years or so because I think if you work 50 years straight to retire then travel you have to rely on the fact that your health is good and governments don;t change economic conditions. Well done for giving an honest insight and not one of these BS instagram vids where they are in all these exotic locations living like multi millioaires.

    Hi Kim and Bergs 🙂My partner and I have watched this video several times along with your other videos. We think your budget is very realistic. We have been to Bali many times, it feels like home to us 🙂. Can I ask how long the visa took to complete and what company did you go through? What website did you use to find your rental/lease option?

    • @bergsinbali

      Thanks for watching, our visa agent was Bali visas, it’s taking about 1 month at the moment but sometimes longer.
      If you join Sanur community you can questions about villas and get prices.

      Hi, as a mature couple we've stayed in Benoa... it's a small area with some restaurants and limited shopping. The beach is geared up for water sports. I much prefer Sanur for the relaxed ambience and a more village feel with plenty of food options and a lovely ocean front board walk.

    Do you tip a lot e.g. for massages and Beauty treatments. As a tourist I always tip, but I feel it would get expensive to do all the time if you lived there.

    If you want to live like a local, you need to get their welcome and heart.
    You need to learn respect to our culture, not western culture.
    You need to learn how to stay in the middle of local community,
    leave your comfort zone, blend with peoples in the "real" village not tourist area.
    You will get more and more CHEAPER living costs, if they LOVE YOU so MUCH.
    Because we ASIAN peoples, not like WESTERN... they simply don't care and ignorance, but not us...
    We are taking care each others !!!
