I just got back from a drive through Mirboo North. The destruction is unbelievable. There's a few houses without roofs. Tangles of powerlines everywhere. Trees uprooted. Trees completely stripped of leaves. Trees snapped off halfway up. Large 100 year old Cypress hedges just levelled. Strezleki Hwy closed to Leongatha. In the 25 years I've been up here I've never seen anything like it. Community is coming together in a huge way which is awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if they declare a state of emergency after what has happened.
I’ve seen videos of micro bursts from a distance, never from the inside. Thanks for the view!
My relative lives in Mirboo North. I was told that a dozen houses lost their rooves and it has been classified as a tornado. Hope everyone recovers okay.
Who are your relatives? I might know them, I lived in Mirboo North all through the 80’s till 1993 but I’m still in contact with everyone I knew down there.
I hope your family is ok ❤

I Lived through it and yes it was a Tornado such power in mother nature i have never felt
It was the scariest storm I have ever witness!! I thought every house was going to take off. I couldn't stop shaking and the noise!!!! Unbelievable!!!! The aftermath is like a war
zone!!! Hope everyone is okay...I think next one comes it could be worse than this one better to be prepared because this one was unexpected!!!
Sending you all so much love, I grew up in Mirboo North from 1980 till 1993 and all my friends I have been talking to down there said our beautiful little town now looks like a war zone.
I hope all of your family is safe and that your home is ok ❤
how terrifying........................ the power in that very short burst was phenomenal
Aw man... I spent my teenage years in Mirboo North back in the 90s, lovely place to grow up. Some of the photos I've seen have been really shocking, I have to wonder if my old home survived... it was only an old and relatively fragile little cottage, I doubt it would have survived the full force of something like this.
Did you go to Mirboo North High School? If so year did you finish year 12? I finished in 1992, I'm just wondering if we know each other or were in the same year level?
I lived in Mirboo North from 1980 till the start of 1993 and did all my schooling there.
It's so heartbreaking hey, I've been speaking to lots of friends who still live there and they said it looks like a war zone 😓
@@MegsyPato Ha, I did go to high school there, but I actually started high school in 1993, so I missed you completely, though only just.
@@DodderingOldMan It’s such a small world hey!! 🥰
Thats crazy weather right there. Reminds me.of tornado season here in Texas
We're not supposed to get tornados...but I wondered if this was a tornado and your observation makes me think it was something like that. Not a microburst.
Probablyhave to look at the radar at the time of the microburst. @@katehack1677
@@katehack1677 I also thought tornado. I'm in a part of Victoria that wasn't severely affected, but when it started hailing while it was still warm I was worried there'd be tornados and possibly lots of damage somewhere not far away.
We do get tornadoes in Aus, by the way, like in many parts of the world. We just don't get them as severe or frequent as they do in North American tornado alley.
Look at the tornado climatology page on wikipedia if you want to see. The whole east of the Australia (including Tasmania) is shown as being one of the areas worldwide experiencing frequent tornadoes (on the world map illustration)
@@katehack1677 I was just looking into it a bit more and according the bureau of meteorology:
"Australia experiences 30-80 tornadoes each year, according to the Allen Research Group. It's likely more, as tornadoes in remote regions may not be reported."
Can anyone say with any certainty that this was a thunderstorm microburst as widely reported and not a tornado? There's a lot of debris flying horizontally though the air in this video. Crazy storm!
That's what i thought. With the amount of damage, that would be a tornado wouldn't it?
@@ramblyk1 not a tornado, a "derecho"
I got caught in one of these trying to walk home one day many years ago. Felt like getting the belt, would not recommend.
I'm glad I wasn't on my walk when it happen. I normally go around that time. I looked up the sky I had a feeling it was going to be nasty so I didn't go Thank god I didn't I'm tiny I would have got swept up in the wind and landed somewhere else!
Compare the trees at the 0:05 mark with 90 seconds later.
Great comparison. The H13 Bushland Reserve opposite me, has been totally decimated, with all the trees twisted and snapped off , approx a 1/3 of the way up their trunk . It’s shredded. The sky went black here less than 5 minutes after the power went off . It was only a matter of mins that the impact hit . The horizontal hailstone attack was horrific . Power restored 9 days later.
I Still can not believe my little house is still in tact its nothing short of a Miracle I really felt like we were about to be blown off Planet Earth
This has been scientifically confirmed to be officially classified as 'Apocolyptic'. Yes, scientists confirm that this incident was an apocolypse. I actually saw this myself from my bedroom window, it was terrifying!!
that is defiantly what i would have described the roads after the storm. it was an absolute mess
Now that was a storm
An umbrella wouldn't be any use in that.
Looks very similar to how a cyclone acts. I saw the front coming across to Lara. So scary.. and so unexpected.
Tornado! 🌪️

Idk man seems normal you could off just out ran it
the sky pirates did well today didnt they. amazing what chemicals sprayed into the atmosphere can do.
Weather is a man made construct in your opinion?
P.S they have been manipulating since 1882 @@P1nkR
I hear ya. Not sure if it was a contributing factor but they're definitely fucking with things.
And they aren't comtrials either
@@frankfranklin5790 Actually this is all natural, as this type of stuff has been happening for billions of years.
