Coming up on my seventh month as a licensed barber. Repetition is key and don’t be too hard on yourself.
Yes exactly!
how old are you ? how much you make a week?
I wanna go into barber school after I finish Uni but one thing I worry about are walk-ins man. what if someone asks for what I thought was an easy cut and then messes them up bad, or I don't know lol. and then id get fired and then maybe turn into dust??
@@xDaesongRose if it happens it happens... accept it and learn from it.. what will be will be - if its out of your control dont worry about it - just do your best ❤
great content Sean! thanks for posting!!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Aye I love all these helping hands under this post tryna help others get in the industry 💯. Young upcoming barber here can't wait to get my career started
Get at it 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Sean thanks for the video!!! I am starting barber school soon. This helped with the questions I had in my head about school and kinda what to expect. Much appreciated!! Keep up with the videos I watch every single one!
Awesome glad it helped you!
Great video Sean !! Great content!! Exactly what I was looking for and something new to the game ! Keep these videos up 🫡
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
YESSIR. Keep killin' it DC. 💪
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Such a helpful video bro, Sean is so underrated, shout-out DC
Thanks my guy 🙏🏼
your station is so clean, love the vids man
I try and keep it neat! Thanks dude 🙏🏼
This was a fun watch. The thing that I’ve noticed throughout the industry is a lack of detailed explanations of the fundamentals. This is why I was so blown away by your explanation of the purpose of the 1.5/.5 guard (different video). Keep up the great work.
Love it. That’s me for the feedback and of course I will!
The result of the haircut is very good and perfect
Such a helpful video bro🙌
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Seems like a cool dude, wish him the best in his journey go get it young bloood
He’s a good guy!
These live videos are fire!! More content like this!
Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏼
Being a barber is so hard sometimes especially when starting out, props to everyone here doing it fr💪
💯💯💯
i'm just passing my 2 months in barber school right now and i'm only here for only 1000 hours so it's flying by fast! thanks Sean your vids inspire and entertain me on my journey.
Hell yeah 👊🏼
Nice and good luck.
Are you doing full time or part time? I think the school I want to enroll in requires 1500 and I’ll be doing part time so I kinda wanted to estimate how long it would take me
Great chat, gents 👍🏾
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hey im from the Island of Madeira i started my barber course last week at the school im happy to do something new for my life. Im very happy hearing the new barbers experience and your advice. You should do more videos like this. ☝
Good luck! You’ll love it!
@@Seancutshair Thank you🙌
I remember being in cosmo school. We started on men's cutting and my dad was my model. We were taught strictly clipper over comb. No guards. I was so scared I was going to screw it up because it's so close to the head and it seemed hard to hide a mistake. It took me a solid 18 months of doing only men's hair to feel like I could show up to work and tackle anything that sat in my chair with quality and precision. That's a long dang time lol but it was so worth it. I kind of wish I had gone to barber school instead, but I'm ok with not using a straight razor.
Yeah it takes a while to get that versatile! Glad you got there 🙌🏻
my barber bro DC. proud of you big dawg
He’s killing it!!!
He's definitely not that big ball of nervousness from his on the floor day back in school.
Hey Sean, I’m about to do a video shoot in a barbershop and I’m worried about the audio. Specifically with the clippers and how to make sure everyone’s voice is clear. This video is probably the best example of keeping it pro and I’d appreciate if you can give me some tips.
Congrats buddy.like Sean said, you will never have to worry again.once you get them L’s you got money for life.mics sound good brudddy
Thanks my guy
Really cool vid to here from someone in a similar situation. Kinda takes some pressure away knowing it’s not just me
It’s the same everywhere you’re not alone!
Hit the plus button 😂😂 Love it, Great vid!
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I’m 5 months into my apprenticeship. Thanks for the advice on the Fresh Shears. ✂️

Awesome idea of a video 💪🤑
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
The barbershop is very luxurious and it's cool bro
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Dope content
Thank you!
Audio was very good!
Thanks for the feedback!
I’m a new barber and I wish I could go to a school and learn the little things. I wish I could have someone look over and guide me through my mistakes, but I can’t. I just don’t have the money. But I haven’t let that stop me. My first cut was solid, it wasn’t great, but it was good. So I feel what he’s saying about just go and it’ll be over before I know it, cause I wish I could. But I’m just gonna pave my own path and I hope other people out there will too.
Yeah just have to cut and do better each time!
@@Seancutshair yessir! 🙏 this just gave me more motivation!
Good luck on this journey.
Like dem mics!
Yessir! 🙌🏻
I graduated next June i can’t wait I’m from Indiana too
Good luck!!!
What school you go to? I’m in indianapolis looking into it
Man this was 8 months ago wow
I'm from Australia and my barber school was 2 days a week for a year and I can say will all honesty I would never recommend it to anyone.
Alot of money for very little support.
Would recommend an apprenticeship over the school avenue.
If we had apprenticeships over here I would have absolutely done that!
YOUR KILLING ME LARRY!!! he said hit the plus button 😂 🤦♂️🤔
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Yo bro that would be cool ,all you have to do is clip the mic to your watch, then we might be able to hear the shears cutting
I’m gonna test it out!
Passed my 1 year mark being a barber last month
Congrats!
How’s it been? Are you pretty booked already and how many days a week do you cut?
That sounds like a summit school like I went to
I’m not sure if it was
Where is that plus button man… wanna hit it!;D
Shout out from Warsaw Poland
+++++
Them Clippers is buttery 😂
😬😬😬
What kind of mic and camera are you using? The sound and video was dope!!!!
Canon eos r and dji wireless mics
Damnn its only 1200 where i live but when i move to SC i have to sign back up to get 300 more hours!!
They really need to make it standard across the board so transferring is easier
Hey Sean Great Video!
Where could I get the cordless mics you had on the video?
They’re DJI and I got them on amazon
Yo Sean what clipper guards do you use? Literally couldn’t find any video on this topic.
Wahl premium reps from amazon. Got a video coming soon with them in it
What do you recommend for a pre shave and aftershave to prevent shaver burn or skin issues?
I don’t do any preshave but I use level 3 aftershave. I do ask clients if they’re sensitive to the shaver to try to avoid any extra irritation
If I succeed, I want to visit your country
Really debating on dropping out of college for barber school
Love it!
@@Seancutshair because like if the world collapses will anybody give a shit about a degree? Or a skill that I can trade for other things 👀
dont worry i will find the plus button someday
👍🏻
In cali we don't have to do the practical exam its just the written test now
Damn nice 👍🏻
Huh explain
damn took 12 mins for a mullet taper, damn one day ill be as fast
You’ll get there!!!
@@Seancutshair one day man, been taking over an hour cutting in the kitchen lmaoo
Love the videos mate! I’m a barber from Scotland, would be amazing to collab one day💯🔥
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Can we know how he’s doing now? I wanna know the journey after a year
What apron you wearing in the video? 🔥
It’s from knife and flag
bro i have been wanting to be a barber for a long time and i can’t.. it’s so hard to get people to practice on and i don’t have enough money for beauty school so how would i even get started
Man sounds tough. You just gotta find the way! There are definitely people out there will take a free cut! Also ways to get money for school. Some take financial aid. Find an odd job and save some money for a year or two. Definitely can make it happen
Wassup, Another dope video Sean! Do you happen to know the artist and track name at 13:38.....?
No it’s copyright free music from epidemic sound I don’t know songs
@@Seancutshair thanks for the fast response! Keep the videos coming! I'm learning over on here! Three finger guide video was dope man!
SMASH that plus button
➕➕➕
Whe you graduate From school, do you come out knowing how to cut hair really good or they just teach you the basics?
Very basic. Up to you to learn as much as possible outside of school to make sure you’re prepared
Where are you located? Evansville used to be local to me! I’m in school now but I’m trying to come through and get a cut from you
Owensboro!
@@Seancutshair hell yeah! I’m like 5 hours from there but bet I’ll take a trip just to check the shop out
Sean! What would u say to someone like me who been doing construction last 15 years and want to get out of it. I'm almost 38 but because of people like u I learned how to cut . I want to be a barber. Is it too late for me?
I’m in the same position, I’m 33 I have only worked in concrete, I just put in my 2 weeks notice and starting barber school soon!
Never too late! I’d tell you absolutely go for it. Everybody can find their place in this industry!
Bro I went to barber school at 33. Now I'm 38 and I'm damn close to pulling in 6 figures. For me it was the best thing I ever did.
I own a plumbing company and I’ve just shut it down to 3 days a week (weekends and Monday) and started barber school the other days. 🤷🏽♂️ I’m 41
@@RyanAlca man that's inspiring
Where did yu get those mics from???
DJI mics got them on amazon
What brand are those mics?
DJI
👍
👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Hey what apron does dc use?
Don’t know that he wears one
How do your new barbers start with there prices? Do you decide? Like beginners from school do they get to pick their prices ? I’m asking bc I just opened a shop and it’s chair rental, but I had someone come in without any clientele and wanted to charge 40$ a cut even with walk ins, I had to let them go bc of many reasons but that was the one thing I really didn’t know how to do better as a boss. I have a full clientele and that’s why I charge my price but I feel beginners or no clientele should be cheaper to build there books.
We have a base shop price I have everyone start at. Once they go to appointments we have a starting price there as well. Then I just work with them if they want to raise their price
@@Seancutshair thank you! I think this would make for a great video, also how to get barbers to clean as well, I always hear “it’s chair rental so all I have to worry about is my chair” but I feel everyone should chip in. Keep killing it! Hope to see more barbershop ownership videos in the future! Also, I just got my first airbrush gun bc of this channel 👏🏻🤘🏻 also some no drip, and your 2 of your enhancement cards. ❤️
Nice and good luck with the shop.
@@wolf_thebarber1310 Another dope video Sean! any updates on the shop Wolf? Just curious.
No fade on the back ??
No he’s growing it out!
Hey Sean! I’m currently a barber in the Uk I have been working in a shop now for nearly a year it’s a small shop but super busy. We do commission here which is 50% the week just gone I cut 65 heads in a 5 day week and don’t get me wrong the money is good (£20 for a normal cut a little more for a skin fade) but I just can’t help but feel I’ve already hit a ceiling. Like I can’t physically do many more hair cuts. Any advice on how to progress ? I know chair rent is an option but the owners don’t seem keen anyone with advice is much appreciated.
Yeah commission isn’t something I’ve ever done but sounds rough. Imagine you were doing the same but paying chair rent you’d be making 30% more! I’d look into that or potentially raising prices. I don’t know if that’s an option or not.
@@Seancutshair appreciate the response mate. Owners don’t want to do chair rent because they would lose out 🤷♂️ guess maybe I need to look into other shops as a potential option. Keep up with the videos I’m loving the content you are definitely one of my favourite channels atm❤️
I’m driving 2hrs for school 😂
Ouch
@@Seancutshair big ouch! It’s worth it for a better education than the schools around me offer 🙃
I drive about 30/45mins 😅
It’s rough but will be worth it in the end!
@@Seancutshair can’t wait to be done, my class ends in July, 2024 I’m out here in Puerto Rico relocate from Florida since barber school is way cheaper down here
Is there any way i can try enrolling in a barber school to get my license without having a h.s diploma in the state of illinois??? 🤔
You’d have to talk to the state board
Thanks bro, thats the only thing that is stopping me🤦🏻♂️
I have a question for you am like 6’7 in height but really would like to become a barber do you think am to tall for that profession or will the chairs help?
That’s definitely tall but it can still be done. Just have to do as much as you can to protect your back 😫
Lol, I figured I’ll give it a try and see what happens.
@@albertstubbs4492how’s it going?
The spot I cut in doesn’t have a big mirror. Do you think that suction cup mount would stick to a wooden cabinet?
No sir
Probably not but you can find similar mounts that you can drill in and mount
Hi man im barber in morocco im 25 years old i love my hobby and my work very much but here in morocco its like limited things in country so if there any chance to get a job contract to work with u guys and uprgrade my experience i will take it . please need some help cause im working on a small family
If it was only as easy and coming and working here!
in the UK u dont need any licences or anything man 😂 if you can cut you can cut
Dang!?!
I’m from Evansville and I went to rogers also. I have a shop in Clarksville Tennessee called Clipper Cave Barber Lounge.. tell him I said hold it down for Evansville 💈🫡💈
That’s what’s up! I will 👌🏻
I’m 37 - turning 38.
Just started barber academy last week and it’s the best decision and I’ve come from sale and construction.
Also broke my back last year in an accident and was lucky to be alive!
But also do photography and CZcams as a side hobby. And want to keep growing my channel.
Again I have the DJI mics and love them bro !!
Get a wrist wrap or sweatband thing and clip the mic to that, what I’ve seen other barbers do, sounds awesome! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
🫶🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻🙌🏻
Hell yeah that’s awesome! I was just telling somebody else that it’s never too late to start! Glad you’re headed in the right direction!!!
@@Seancutshair thanks bro, love your vibe and content.
Learnt heaps from you. 🫶🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I went to barber school when I was 41 , I am 46 now and running my own shop ,glad I did what I did
