I'm rejoining, heading back to Kapooka on Monday. One thing to add to the equipment list: Zip Ties. Friggin amazing for setting up your webbing.
Going to recall this as your webbing will now be all Mollie... I had the old H-Harness last time lol.
question?? what are you doing when your doing this with your webbing. what're you tying down and when the y is almost self explainitory
@@abysstv3 On the old webbing with metal clips the clips could come undone, so adding zipties helps as a "safety".
Some people dont like the metal clips as they can dig into you, so some people used ot just use a shit ton of zip ties and not use the metal clips at all.
They're also just generally useful, e.g. strap shit down that is flapping around.
My boyfriend didn't take most of those things, could i send him a care package?
The file on nailclippers are pretty easy to remove, just bend them back and forth and it should break (the metal is very thin) then use another pair of nail clippers to remove the base of the file and boom no more nail file.
Noice tip!
My hubby is going next thursday he's glad he watched this half of that stuff mentioned wasn't on his JI
Yeww! Enlistment day in 5 days. thanks for the tips!

1) What are the little things you can (non fitness wise) do before you go in, like eating quickly, going to bed at 2200 and getting up at 0600, practise hospital corners etc.?
2) Women in the Lines - even if it is a dated docco, how much of that carries over to what it's like these days?
^^ Solid advice
Thank you for the insite of the other side of what happens at Kapooka as recuriuts. I have just started working in the recuriuts mess as a driver in 2021 and what ever other jobs are tasked to me during the day. As a non military person it great to learn whats required by the recuriuts during their training. During our work day we have minimum contact with recuriuts and staff .
I leave for kapooka in a week and these vids are a gift from God. You're a champ!
@Australian Eugenics Expert it's taken me a few years to get in but I'm finally there. If it's what you want to do then shoot your shot!
@Eugene From Tasmania It's been a year, hows things now? Still in?
Roll up your soap, shaving gear and bathroom utilities in your towel every single night before going to sleep. If going through in summer just try sleep in top of your already made bed, then again you must run to hallway call with sheets, but we figured how to get past it though cause I went in winter so it sucked, learn to work well with your dorm mates and get the morning routine down.
Also.... you got mail?.... hahaha fuck times have changed... I didnt hear from family or friends till march out and even that was fuck all till I got to my corps training.
I'm off to kapooka in January. Thanks for the video
10th?
My little brothers enlistment date is March 6th, showing him the whole series ahaha ✌🏻 good work mate cheers
No worries, tell him best of luck!

If you can sneak this in get a leatherman MUT, yes it is gutchi but it make cleaning the "gun" a dream.First day you are there go to the post office and get the dental tool will make cleaning the build up of muck at the exit of the barrel a 30 second job for the EF88. the Leatherman mut will also save you so much time and fuck around with the minimi. Takes me 20 seconds to get the gas plug of using the screw driver end to hold the pin in. If you do bring the leatherman it must be kept in a locked container not your draw, if they catch you you will get a tpi
February 21st here, thanks for the info
same!
No worries, best of luck!
Shaving brush for cleaning down your Steyr.
Yep, fuckin good advice, use a toothbrush to loosen graphite, rust and cordite, brush out and oil up.
Dont forget to clean the gas chamber and trigger mechanism too, once you get to your unit you will wash your plastic body in soapy water, remember to keep your receiver group and bolt clean and oiled up too.
Once you are on operations its a must to keep cordite and graphite in your trigger group and reciever, minimal oil and keep things smooth.
Great advice, thank you!
Don’t forget occy straps. It doesn’t have to be green or black unless you have a regi corporal
What length mate?
@@troycarson3134 just the normal ones maybe about 30cm when not stretched
Thanks for all of the knowledge and information mate.
Great hey!?
For any women here.

hey i remember seeing you in his chat years ago
is all these things still relevant? In today's Kapooka?
10th july, cheers for the tips
Heading off August 21st :) One thing I'm curious about, I was tested with and without my glasses at my medical, had the same results with and without weirdly with the eye test. Any recommendations? I generally don't wear them all the time, but I feel as though with the long days and all the information to take in, might be best to wear them full time perhaps?
Howd it go mate?
Leaving in a few days. Should i bring workbooks (books for writing), also will we get time for casual reading or nah?
Can you bring cigarettes at kapooka?
How much money should I bring and do I need to bring money? Or is it recommended??
Is that thumbnail photo from when you were there? I swear that looks like everyone from my platoon back in 2001
You've probably never seen this question, but I've got a stutter and I'm keen on doing the adf to prove to myself I can conquer anything in life but will I be accepted in? I know if I get in I'm going to get shit put on me but I love a good laugh on it too 😂
I doubt they will not accept you because it'll come under discrimination. Unless it physically stops you from doing certain things. But you will definitely get shit from your mates for it!
It will be just banter at the end of the day mate haha
Good vid bro I'm going soon
thanks for the tips harry mate!
No worries! Glad to have helped!
I am joining when I am 17 so in two years I was wondering if when you go to kapooka can we bring pictures of our family with us and do we get to keep them with us
can bring whatever you like but the things not alowed will be locked away
goddards so no dead brasso on your belt buckle etc etc
I've lived with diabetes for a while now, and I've have been wondering if type 1 diabetics can join ADF?
What’s the deal on taking supplements with you? IE. preworkout, protein, glutamine, ginkgo etc?
Hi my names Hakeai and I'm preparing for Kapooka at the end of this year and I was asking if you guys could help me out
Just curious if that flag is all for show? Like why is it back to front?
The union jack should always be positioned in the top left corner, even if the flag is hung vertically.
Hey, i'm heading of in a a month and you mentioned that you should put those things like pens, tape etc in a spot where your DS won't see them. I was wondering is that because that stuff counts as contraband? Like if I have extra pens with me or a spare key will the yell at me for it or is it ok? Probably a dumb question but I'm new to this so I'd appreciate the help.
Cheers
Loui S what date are you leaving ?:) and what job role are you going to be doing ?
leaving 28th of june, infantry ARES
Loui S goodluck mate!
Cheers, one week till i'm off!
It’s not contraband - it’s so u jack mates don’t steal it.
Are we allowed to bring small scissors (for trimming nails and cutting tape)?
I swear that's my section in the picture
You forgot SUNSCREEN
I went through in 1987 I wish I took earplugs they (instructors) yelled am cursed a lot haha
Harry, did caz from in the trenches with caz contact you?
Not yet mate
can PR holder are allowed to join army ?
or first you must be australian citizen ?
Going in July!! should i purchase better boots or are the ones issued ok? heard they're not the best. plus i was thinking of training in them. thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. keep up the good work Harry!
The issued boots are actually really good, but try and get a second opinion from a full time member!
im going in july too :)
godswarriorawaken my partner is leaving in July as well!
I'm going July 24th any one else?
If you rock up to Kapooka with your own style of boot, be prepared to have them confiscated.
10 march for reserve training. fun times.
I just got back from Reserve training (Feb 17). This list is really good
Joseph Bruce that is great, congrats. Anything you found particularly horrible?
The first 3 weeks are equally horrible and it gradually got better as the staff gained respect for you as an individual. this is also the time when all the skills you have been taught get put into practice. the 3rd week is also the week when we got our watches back. good luck mate I'm sure you'll do great!
Winston Li where do you parade?
Hope you had fun mate!
Baby Wipes? Gun Oil. Use gun oil if you need a bath or to wipe the plastics.
What size padlocks 🔐? There is obviously a wide range of sizes available.
I got a 120/30 mm Lockwood lock
So you don’t get calls? Or phone time?
What happens on immersion day?
Hey mate, great vids, just wondering is the aptitude test hard, ive been practising with the adf app, however i cant do algebra, is it a common test question, and if i got all those questions wrong would i still pass? thanks mate
@Rory James how do you go with the aptitude test, I too am terrible with the algebra on the practice n will need to do the real deal this week.
@@andrewmanttan1119 hi mate,
Yea I don't think I even got one algebra question. It's pretty easy mate.
Good luck
@Rory James ah great, the rest was easy in practice just that algebra had me freakin. Cheers mate and thanks heaps for the reply 'ey. Hope you're doing well in there bloke. 👍
Pen is mightier than the sword.
Do people just steal everything from each other at Kapooka or..
Not really, there's a strong sense of mateship (as you would hope), but it never hurts to put your name on stuff so Robbo doesn't end up wearing your jocks!
Sten Goa God help you if an RI finds you nicking anything from a mate. Stuff can get lost, so it's good to label everything. We used the first three letters of your surname followed by the last three numbers of your regi number.
Quick question, I'm in the assessment stage of enrolling and hopefully can head to kapooka in 2-3 months from now. I know there is a lot of theory work, but should I expect homework or assignments (essays for example)?
Hey mate! How did it all go?
sorry but it does not get cold at koppoka I live 10 minutes away from the base and it only gets down to about 5 degrees
Military Reviews that’s cold to Queenslanders though 😂
Military Reviews I remember being out on ex there in July-August. I was lying in long grass, and I tapped an old white log with my rifle. It wasn't a white log, it was a sheet of ice that fell off. To me, that was cold.
Do you get ragged on for wearing goggles during the swimming bouts? Were there any sessions where you had to swim great lengths?
What’s the go with mobile phones? Are you allowed on your phones of a night? Also are there visiting weekends etc
nah mate can't have your phones on base, i think. they'll allow mailing and some limited phone calls
when you finish Kapooka and move to the Employment training stage, do you go straight there or do you go home for a while as a break then go to employment training (eg medic training, artillery training etc)
linanae1 yes that's a good one to ask :)
As I'm a chocco, I'd ask any ARA members if the could answer this question, and you should too. For us choccos though it's broken up into block training, like TAFE pretty much.
You go directly to your IET course location depending on your enlisted CORPS
You may have to wait until an IET course frees up, if you're not directly shipped to your IET course, you'll be posted back to your unit until an IET opens up.
@@dankosaurusrekt2540 what do you mean by posted back to your unit??
Can we take a leatherman ?
I'm 14 and I'm going to join once I finish year 12 and I was wondering about food allergies because I have a peanut allergy and I don't want that to compromise my training if I eat the wrong thing, are you allowed to bring epi-pens and others like that?
just look up "can I join the ADF with a peanut allergy:" im pretty sure you can
Dumb Question, but do you know how much of the kit you need to get before going to Kappoka is tax-deductible. My son went through last year and is now doing Tax Return...
You should claim all items as tax deductible. That’s what I did for my tax return
So how many Coat hangers should I take? they're kind of awkward to pack around.
10 at least I reckon
Do they do reserve training in May/ June?
They do reserve training every four weeks
I went for reserve training in June
what about foot powder
Can you take a safety razor or does it have to be Gillette type razor?
how long is the course at Kapooka and what are the Physical requirements
dylan adnum for army it’s 40 push ups 75 sit-ups and a certain time on a 2.4km run, for a army soldier it’s 3 months ish
Goes for like 80 days roughly
Will I be supplied with prescription ADF approved glasses, and even if I won't need them all the time can I just have them handy on me at all times?
Do the army do exam or test
how important is it to be good at Reading writing maths etc
You ‘ave to finish Yr 10 Maths and English
Maybe a stupid question, can you take any IT like iPad, phone to Kapooka?
From my experience You won’t have time for it. Don’t bother.
i am 15 and i wish to inlist as an infantry so how would the atmosphere when i go when im 17
Cuzzie well there will be young and old people there you won’t get treated differently although there might be weird looks by older generals
Zebgo Gaming and more ok thank you man
I'll let you know mate, I'm 17 leaving in a week.
@@TrashManCan I’ll go as 18 straight after the HSC (Chocco)
next kapooka enlistment dates.
Should I pack my stuff inside a backpack or a duffel bag? Also, is it true that they make you run with your bag on the first day?
It was 13 years ago I was there, but I think we dropped the bags then they took us to get clothing. They take most your stuff off you first day aswell so u may not get to keep everything until the end of the training. You will get chances to go back to your bags sometimes. Good luck and try not to stress if you get in trouble it's all part of it. I look back and laugh, try to have fun and make lots of mates.
@@andrewjohn1423 I have one more question because a lot of people have differing opinions: is joining the armed forces worth it?
@Jezzyzeggs if you have a good job with a future there, then maybe not. But if you're just bumming around in a shit dead end job and u want to leave town on an adventure, I say go for it. I was a bit of a drop kick, never really applying myself to anything, I've been out for 6 years now and have a really good job and life. The army gave me the confidence in myself to apply myself more.
Do you know if you can take a watch? If so what type other than Gshock? Garmin?
Wait until you’re in and claim it on tax

yep.. its not that bad though
I'm going through the enlistment process at the moment but I'm wondering if when I go to Kapooka will I be allowed to have photos of my kids there and will I be allowed to call them at all ?
No phonecalls to home are allowed in the first month or so, hence the letter writing advice in his video. ALL mobile phone will be confiscated by the RI's when you rock up to Kappoka and will be allowed to be signed out at various times and then must be signed back in again
You can have family photos but keep it hidden away
When do you receive a JI list

I’m use to it. I just need to fully understand and be ready for what I’m getting myself into.
@@Laleleichick77 i got raped when i went
@@Laleleichick77 Asked a few mates about this, basically you won't be culturally accepted even though they will be forced to work with you due to the higher ups wanting to be seen as progressive for promotions sake. It's not a place you'd want to be. If you rat people out then no one will like you, so you will be stuck defending yourself. They also said depending on if you're M->F, or F->M, or 'just playing dress-ups' will dictate the type of shit you get. If you are M-F then expect the worst. They aren't keen on gays either. I don't want to say online but they said bad things happen when the officers aren't around. These guys were all infantry btw. They basically explained it as you need to trust each other with your lives in life and death situations.
It may not have been what you wanted to hear but it's what they told me so I hope it gave you some insight. Just being honest.
