I had one, it was my second car. It was BRG 4 door. Which is rare. I loved that car to the max. Bodywork was a bit mashed, typical stuff with Mk1 at the time like corrosion to the spare wheel well base, around the headlights, lower wings. The Webber carb, 4 branch exhaust mage gave the engine a real throaty sound when you reved her up. The engine was sweet. Mine was a 1966, with the quarter numbers on the front like the Lotus. The subtle GT badges on the rear wings and boot set the car off. Loved all the interior, the clocks, dials and the remote gear change with the centre console complete with compartment holder and lid.
We always remember the good, never the downsides of these old cars.
Got pulled over driving it. Took it off the road, and it got stolen.
I wonder how much it went for? I have a Mk1 Cortina GT as well which hopefully will be back on the road soon.
Lovely cars to drive, even by todays standards.
Beautiful car,my father owned six cortina gt s,mark one's
My mate had one of these brand new they just don't seem to age always in fashion
The photo bombing Spaniel makes me laugh
My mistake it's a gt Cortina with lotus Cortina paint job
Why would someone dress up a Cortina to look like a Lotus Cortina? Sad. I owned a '66 Lotus Cortina which I bought in the U.S. I got a work assignment to England and had it shipped there. Marvelous car. Had it done up by BRM in Bourne, Essex.
