- The planning of 9/11 was split between Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaeda, and Khalid Skeikh Mohammed, the architect of the plan. Of the two, OBL was the realist whereas KSM was more of a dreamer. KSM had plans so big that even OBL wouldn't approve them. But what if he had?

This was the exact plan of Phase III of the Bojinka Plot. The Wikipedia article here (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bojinka_plot ) describes exactly how it would've played out.

A valiant effort, but a few things to consider for this scenario-
I don't know of any EAS alerts that went out on the actual day. That being said, sustained attack like what was proposed would likely warrant one.
The trick most EAS scenarios fall for is being too alliterative, and hedge in music and storytelling elements which an alert would not include. This showed discretion, but deserves an expanded media view... which I'm aware is a tall order ; but exploring how 1998 era news/media, and most importantly telephone services would respond would take this scenario to the next level.
Still, I'm impressed. It's sharply made and well focused.

Honestly I know the 2001 attack changed everything, but... I wonder how things would change in this scenario.
For starters, I think there would be a lot more panic over Y2K. With so many people involved in this scenario, the government looks incompetent that they didn't have any intel or defenses. (Y2K prep did quite a bit to inform the 2001 9/11 response).
To be candid I don't see how anyone survives too much longer in this timeline. IF the whole United States had been under attack on 9-11-1998, there is simply no good reason why Martial Law would not have been declared from the White House, and from there a semi-permanent escalation to Defense Condition 2 would have happened. People forget this is the same Bill Clinton who casually ordered early and repeated missile strikes just to pacify Bosnia, in a conflict that the United States wasn't even a part of. The response would NOT have been as compromised by Big Oil interests as G.W. Bush's was from 2001 onward in the mainstream timeline.
No, seriously, this scenario would lead to nuclear aggression against the Arab Peninsula inside of six months tops, if not six days. Once Clinton found out this was an Arab plot (primarily) carried out by Arabs, we would be one bad minute away from World War III. And with our attention bent towards the Arab Peninsula, the entire rest of the nuclear-capable world would likely see fit to lash out against us just because. QED the world dies, becomes unfit for bacteria by and large.

As someone who was born in Boston, Massachusetts (almost nothing in terms of distance) from Boston this hits hard and makes me feel violated (Not hating on the video) the fact it makes me feel this way honestly proves how well this was made and how much more impactful this would have been (not saying 9/11 was not a terrifying thing that changed history forever it certainly did.)

Okay, after a few of these had happened, USAF would have fighters scrambled from every airbase and ANG base in the U.S. to knock down the aircraft still flying after the grounding order. Washington, D.C. was a CAP-patrolled no-fly zone following the Pentagon attack, so the White House would've been under CAP protection before President Clinton's address.
BTW, did you get Prof. Stephen Hawking to record your voice-overs before his death? That was a stroke of genius.
You are correct. This scenario is biased heavily in favor of the attackers, for one simple reason; I made a conscious decision to forgo full realism in favor of dramatizing the worst-case scenario because 1) it makes for better drama, and 2) very few people know there was a larger plan and so I used it as an educational/illustrative opportunity.
Fun fact: Stephen Hawking used the same voice formerly used by NOAA Weather Radio and the Emergency Alert System from 1996 to 2002! It's the Paul voice from the old DECTALK software.

I wanted to make this both interesting and informative, and to do both of those most effectively I decided to make the attack a complete success, however unlikely that may be.

The fighter jets weren't on readiness for 9/11 is my understanding.
All the station listed are Real life stations (WCVB and WABC are affiliated with ABC, KTLA is affiliated with the CW, WUSA is affiliated with CBS, and WRC is an affiliate of NBC. We did not get a single Fox station)

@@nerdfacegaming7824 That's one reason, but that brings us to an error I made, actually: KTLA is a CW station, which didn't exist until 2006. Fox actually would have made more sense there.

This is primarily intended to serve as an illustrative educational video about the Bojinka Plot and its variant plans, the most notable of which became 9/11. Many people are unaware of the history behind the attacks and do not know it was originally supposed to be even worse. This video shows what the worst-case scenario would be had the original plan taken place.
