Clearly that two hours of sleep and two shots of tequila put me back in 2022 😂
The time change from the east coast must be longer than I thought
It would be really interesting to know the speeds during different parts of this race
I got my pint a year and a month ago. I SHRED that little beast. I am SO STOKED for where this sport is going. Espn, great hilarious sponser ads, the vibes, i WILL be seeing you all for RFTR 2024. And i cannot wait. SO much love to onewheel and floatlife and wheelfunstuff for introducing this amazing little board to me. I feel close to god on this thing. I am not religious either. It changed my life, my mentality, every aspect of my health it improves everyday. Except maybe these 35 year old knees 😂❤
59:04 That may have been one of the sketchiest things I've seen in any RFTR yet!!
Jack and Ted please commentate every event going forward. The only reason I’m not scrolling instagram on my phone with this on mute is the incisive, subtle charm of the broadcast duo of the century. 🔥
They are besties too
Get home safe everyone. Glad all the races were injury free. Let's get some nudge features mixed in next year or more stuff like the logs that isn't just about top speed. That pass on the bridge was sick!, maybe a guard rail for worst case scenario. I would hate to create a reason for more unnecessary cpsc attention
Jahfari is amazing 👌🏾
These were great races however the camera placements specifically at the finish line needs a lot of work.
Don’t disagree. But we aren’t the Olympics or X Games… yet 😉
Always things to improve on!
I totally agree the camera work and the drone footage was sup-par at best.
Thank you to the Onewheel Racing League and Future Motion for this epic 2023 Race For The Rail! 16 guys that had respect for the fastest course created and respect for each other as they did something only a few in the world can attempt. Mad props to all of them and our three winners, Jahfari, Kyle and Tyler.
Agreed! That was awesome...
Très belle compétition merci 😊 j'ai utilisé ma pint x pour la première fois aujourd'hui 👍j ai 48 ans😅
this and the women's championships have been great and great to see the drones being used for better coverage
Final race was the best 😅👌🏾🤙🏾🤘🏾
Crunch wrap supremes 😂😂😂 described the toilet bowl
You get flushed out fast if you know what I’m sayin!
That was fun
Wow!!! Respect!!! Amazing race!!!❤️👍🔥
Excited for the day my kiddos can enter a race. They ride pint x's like me
Another EPIC day of racing! 🤙🏼⚡️🖤
Congrats to everyone! It was such a nail-biter I have no more nails left.
Great race. Much better than last year, better coverage and track. Great job everybody.
Hey Future motion! I have a suggestion for your camera work in the future.
Put a drone up above the course for a Birds Eye view and then we can have it shoot to the close up FPV drone.
More drone pilots! They really set the vibe. Amazing sport🇺🇸❤️
🤟Tyler James - Congratulations - 2023 RFTR Champ🤟
Amazing racers. I would love another pro rider to commentate with you next time. I enjoyed The conversation with Rachel
Cecil up there with you guys.
Jeff from the float life would be an amazing guest for example.
Much love
Wren Weichman was slotted but wasn’t able to make it. Still a great show!
Great competition and exciting races
Epic race 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
REDBULL where are you on the sponsorships. Lets get this thing ROLLIN!
That was a blast!
Luke Austin was the most entertaining rider! Great passes!
My brother ole Adair is a beast...
Awesome job by everyone!!
1000%
Insane props to the riders. With the cards they were dealt, I'm extremely impressed at what we saw here, they pretty much all have been dedicating their lives to this sport and it shows. We saw some insane moments that really made this feel like the real deal coming to fruition. Luke Austin's pass on Jahfari on the bridge? INSANE! And Austen Silva's near comeback was so amazing to watch unfold.
That said, having that mixed in with moments like top contenders losing their race solely due to sensor engagement issues that the community has solved in numerous ways for years, as well as many racers being on tires they haven't had much time to practice on due to bribe money* that could have gone to the prize pool which would make things much more competitive (*Could be viewed more positively as a tire sponsor, check out the discussion in the replies below). Just those moments that remind you this is primarily a marketing campaign and secondarily a race, is a bit disheartening. I understand certain things to an extent, especially when it comes to anything the CPSC could potentially take issue with. But I just really hope to see this race develop to being about the sport as the top priority, rather than marketing and control as the top priorities, as things develop.
We have something seriously special here, an amazing community and a sport that I think was proven today to be something that can grow into something amazing that's taken seriously. I just hope the development and progression of that isn't put to the way side going forward, just to keep control over the sport.
But seriously, massive props to all the racers, putting their bodies on the line for the sport they love and putting on a show. This year felt like something seriously special ♥🔥
✅️🤙🏾
Why is it bribe money and not a tire sponsor? We wouldn't use tires we don't like.
@thewheelneil1379 That's a totally valid view point, I can see I was a bit too harsh there, thanks for calling me out on it!
I think the main thing that the negativity stemmed from was just the timing and how sudden it all was. Seeing anything that pays the racers is a plus to me, I'm all for that, it just rubs me the wrong way having racers put in a situation where they are suddenly running a very different feeling setup pretty last second, compared to what theyve gotten dialed into over the course of the season. It's only been two weeks since most of us even knew the tires existed, many racers only had a few days to run em. It's not the worst thing in the world, just rubs me the wrong way a bit and feels like it reduces the potential competition a bit compared to people being fully dialed in on the setup theyve been training to race on for months.
If the alternative was that money going to somewhere besides the riders, I totally agree that it's a positive, not like it was mandatory. But especially with how last second the tire announcement was, I feel like I would've rather seen the cash either just in the prize pool (makes the race even more competitive and potentially brings more publicity, though that means it's spread out less across racers), or going to supporting racers in other ways. But I get it, it's marketing money. Just felt like a weird decision between the timing and the fact that nobody even really notices the tires.
But yeah, from a broader perspective, the outlook of it being a "tire sponsor" is a lot more positive, I can get behind that. Just hope none of the racers felt too much pressure to run it if it was a setup that they maybe felt they didn't have enough time to get comfortable on. Hitting these kinds of speeds on a board you're not dialed into can get pretty sketch.
The sensor engagement was infuriating to watch. I was so angry as I was watching them failing to get rolling again, and trust me, my anger was not with the riders... Just because FM can't figure out how to make a decent foot sensor doesn't mean the racers should have to suffer. Technical issues have no place on the track.
Future Motion offered a $1,500 sponsorship to every rider who rode with their aftermarket enhancements. Every rider was allowed to use their preferred tire and/or rear foot pad, but as far as I know, none of the aftermarket companies provided a match on that sponsorship. Also, every man that rode the FM tire wanted it on. Although two men's riders went to alternative aftermarket tires and rear footpads, that did not play a role in the outcome. All of these riders are in a class by themselves and it's about their riding skill.
A comment negative to Future Motion is really disheartening. Great lengths were taken to ensure this race is about riding skill in a Supercross format. These guys don't need what the aftermarket is pushing to be great!
Final comment, this was a legitimate board sports race, meaning no special attachments to keep the riders feet on the board... Foot control, line and speed.
Luke and Austin got absolutely robbed by that non engage...
facts! they deserved wins the most!
Would have past right by him if he didn’t leave his board in the way.
Is RFTR just the flagship model or is it for the pint and pintx. In motorcycle racing they have classes based on engine size. Would be nice to see people move up as they progress!
@Onewheel we need some new "persimmon" merch 😂
On it😂
Why did 3rd place get 2500$ and second got 1000$? Great race tho amazing congratulations to all the winners
Accidentally gave em the wrong checks but it’s all good
Skip to 19:50 for the race
You're welcome
How they manage the nosedive risk during speed competition like that ?
Pure skill. Know the board and it’s limitations
It's a key element of professional racing... riding on the edge. That means these guys were hitting speeds from 29.5 to 32 MPH depending on weight and just how close they want to come to the edge. The lighties have an advantage on the straights but the bigger guys on the chatter, obstacles and space. the winner is the overall best at foot control and riding on the edge.
Driving home to SD from Texas could not watch live. Hoping Kyle would have pulled it for the real So Cal- SD but fun none the less
Tyler James is born and raised in Del Mar California -- As real as it gets...they both spent a night on the Star of India in 7th Grade!
Epic 🎉
This competition needs rules for grabbing and clutching opponents. Tyler clearly grabbed Austin when he passed him. In sports like speed skating, Tyler's move would have disqualified him. Step it up for next year onewheel
This is not speed skating. Look at Snowboard Super Cross. Touches inform the racer you are coming through.
Rubbin is racin, with this tight knit of racing, some contact is inevitable. For concerning calls, they go back to review the footage and make a determination on if it was clearly intentional or not. For that specific pass, if anything, it seems like Austen passed through Tyler's blind spot and accidentally got hooked into Tyler's arm. Not intentional clearly IMO, but Austen is the one pushing through there. I doubt Tyler even knew he was there until he felt the contact, I've had a similar pass done to me past my backside like that, and you don't see them until they're pretty much already in front of you
Yeah, I came looking for a comment about this. It looked like Tyler threw his hands up as he want down? Almost like he was questioning the pass or saying “what the heck, man?!”
@onewheel great race! Now Bernie sanders meme asking you again to also host Clydesdale and grom races next season please and thank you
Please make haptic buzz an optional feature
Does Tyler James and Kyle Hansen use the new performance treaded or slick tire to compete in this year RFTR 2023? Which one are they using? Would love to see their tune of custom shaping too.
Correct
@@thewheelneil1379 Thank you Neil. Great race! We appreciate you collaborating & developing these new tire for us.
2 minutes per mile is equivalent to 30mph sheesh
Great racing sport (make it adults 18yrs older only!), allow more rubbing bumping elbowing during racing, need race courses about twice as long, “OneWheel” allow user replacement of batteries an main components like hub motor and controller boxes‼️ Each year is getting bigger👍👍 lets make it better an more exciting , thank you for your contribution creating the sport onewheel
18 years old is a terrible idea. Let 'em race as is. This is OneWheel, not roller derby!
18+ is a good idea. Horsepower divided by weight gives power ratio, would have been relatively easy for little Jahfari to win against ppl who weigh 50 pounds plus more. 😂
@@russknapp4374 adult racing competition for $10k with real life consequences (kids are lighter, not mentally ready, heal faster so have no thought of injury and if a kid did get bumped or fell an got hurt bad in competition it would be end of world today), rubbing bumping is racing especially on narrow short track with competitors in your way
God you are such a crybaby better get youst to bring beat for decades to come
Yeah I think the younger kids have a disadvantage staying on their board while battling the big boys. Especially going over rocks. It makes me think of playing defensive basketball
Second Championship race where Tyler does some questionable moves to win lol, looks like he intentionally falls into Jahfari at the end to pass him. Ik rubbing is racing or whatever so I guess it's fair game but still idk seemed offensive.
Time stamping would have been really nice, specially for people like me who are interested in the content, the racing aspect of it, but couldn't careless a about the 'event' and all the filler stuff. Great for fans im certain but...
Added!
Damn. OW marketing guy wouldn’t let the legend Todd Richard’s get a word in during the actual races. Todd’s done Olympics, let him speak
🫨🫨😯😯
You mean after 8 years they’re still relying on drone footage for photo finishes instead of GoPros lined up at the finish line? Come on
There’s a dedicated camera on the ground at the finish line. It is not broadcast though.
What is the "rail" ?
The "rail" is one of the components on every Onewheel. It's the side of the boards that holds the components together. Every year the trophy is made from a rail.
@@Onewheel 👍 whodathunkit
Nice Races!
The PFV Drone pilot flying at times on eye level behind people, while there are others behind the drone, seems somehow very reckless.
Drone footage was very sub-par in my opinion. All the camera work really.
How they gonna do hasbulla like that. Referring the logs as hasbulla sized.
You never know what Ted might say next😂
@@Onewheel how would hasbulla feel?
