  • Join Trinny for a deep dive into oversized suits - they’ve been around for decades, and yet they’re almost always trending. So how do you know if you suit a slouchy suit? And how can you style one to make it work for who you want to be this season? For Trinny, it’s all about playing with proportions so that the shape of the suit doesn’t become overwhelming. A little waist definition here, a little shoulder padding there, et voila - you’ve avoided that dreaded dressing-up-in-my-dad’s-clothes moment and the shape suddenly feels more chic.

These are helpful as a lot of people are shopping their own wardrobe these days. And with many of us armed with more knowledge, thanks to books like Fear Less, of what works for our own unique body shapes and style, how can we take what we have and make it work for our lines and style.
BTW, where is Chloe? No Friday Twinning?

That definitely works on taller women but not for petites like myself at 5' 1 1/2"
    😊

Why would I want to make myself look bigger with oversized clothing. You are tall it looks good on you.

Best and trs look great!!!!Especially with white T shirt. You would suit different jacket - even with wrap tied belt you get a bit lost in jacket, you little thing you 🤓 ❤

Trinny, what appropriate necklace is best to match when you wear a jacket or a blazer? Maybe you can do that as a closet confession please? Because its kind of a challenge to accessories while theres the blazer. I feel like it is too much to accessories. Even Iris apfel she mostly wore dresses to show off her accessories but hardly in suits?

I like a bib necklace that meets the t-shirt neckline, so it just peeks out from underneath the jacket.
      Safer alternatives are:
      A) just a crossbody slung across my chest (adding 'jewellery' with the metallic strap),
      B) fab statement earrings (that don't interfere past the shoulders),
      &/ or
      C) hand candy (like cuffs/ bracelets - even a watch! Otherwise rings).

It looks strange and ill fitting no matter how it’s worn.

I would just move the button(s) to bring it a the waist slightly

I like that look. I made the mistake of buying an oversized blazer only, and being petite, it doesn't work on me. Its also bottle green and synthetic. Out it goes.
When you're petite, oversized is tricky. I like drama though.

That's hilarious because I'm also petite in height but I love my oversized synthetic bottle green blazer haha! There are certain tweaks that make it more wearable for me though, like the single breasted buttoning (I never wear it fully closed), pre-scrunched up sleeves (it helps to show a little bit more skin) and the length (it's definitely longer (past the bum) but still well above the knees). All of this helps it to look less like a boxy, manly dress on me.
I sometimes wear it with the matching trousers for interviews etc but not always.

@@JBUHJBUH yes it is funny. Mine is Mango. Well it just hangs there so although I kind of like it, it just isn't working. I put it in the donation bag.
      I've got other blazers.

No. Light wide belt, remove the sleeves or roll them up with a white long sleeve, wise collar dress shirt underneath. Keep the trainers.

Why follow this trend if it doesn’t suit you? Let’s not be fashion victims rather let’s move on to less trendy fashion if it looks good on you. Personally I feel the slouchy oversized trend was created by lazy designers and stylists. They were too lazy to design well fitting feminine suits which will accommodate a woman’s curves and figure. Their models are half starved so they design for them, baggy clothes for skeletal women. No thanks, they can keep their trends.

Suit + tie belt = FUN. Straight, parted-in-middle hair just MEH.

Why buy something too big for you? Just buy proper tailored jackets that fit. Simple.
