      I was thinking they could do a tour of America (not California, since they've already been there), and try some of the alcohol here. I was thinking how much I would enjoy seeing them try some Kentucky Bourbon. Or maybe some of the micro-breweries in the Pacific North West.

    After 45 years in a Thai jail I've discovered something about British TV. I can buy a boxed set of these two guys travelling around the country swilling booze. I can sit at home with a box of scotch and slowly work my way through it whilst watching the vids. British TV keeps you off the streets. It does it does it does.

      @@videosfromelsewhere926 Well, we got to Ireland right as chinese virus was in full swing, but we were still able to go to Doyle's in Graiguenamanagh and have a couple pints. It was a great pub! Coal stove in the back, but there was sadly no music. One of the best things we did was kayaking down the river Barrow. The Cliffs of Moher were amazing...truly one of the most awesome places I have ever visited. It was one of the best trips I have ever taken and I hope to go back soon.

I mean he's always a pedantic piece o' shite in general, but he's clearly got some insecurities or "white knight syndrome" regarding the way the world, and even neighboring countries, view the Irish people. Seriously, no one is purely any one ethnicity anymore, I just don't understand why he was so determined to make a bg deal out of such a minor fact.

    James is quite irrational ... on the one hand he is all FOR "new things" like industrializing the production of beer, but then he goes all "traditional" on the whole Oyrish thing ...

      Then he follows it up with a very good and very open minded monologue about why beers are changing and will be something different in the future ... because the work people do has changed.
      If you think about the whole situation of "real pubs" closing in England and being replaced by "lifestyle bars" and other such nonsense, he very much hits the nail on the head there. Oh and blame the women for this kind of change, because its them who want to go to a "fancy and civilised wine bar" instead of a traditional pub. Its the same all over the world really, because "traditional" gets replaced with "exotic" ... as if the exotic will stay exotic if you can have it every day. Its just becoming the norm.

    Ugh, I hate that. I'm not Irish, I don't pretend to be Irish. I don't affect an Irish accent when i have a "Point" of Guinness in my hand, and no. Whiskey doesn't make you Irish. Neither does drinking on St. Pats. Let's celebrate the domination of the island by the Anglican church, by wearing green, shamrocks, getting smashed, and trying to act "Irish." At what point is it fucking insulting?
