I used to listen to drum and bass mixes on cassette tapes a lot which really softened the drums, which I liked. When you filtered the top end, it reminded me of this.

I had friends who promoted parties but they were into deep house, which I didn't really like. Sometimes I'd go to reggae parties with MCs but most of them were pretty wack too, at least in California.
Brilliant stuff. I was all about Big Bad Bass when it came out and would follow the Valve Soundsystem around anywhere and everywhere. I'm going to be coming back to this video a lot I feel.

Trying so hard to learn Renoise just now and your channel really helps mate! Just wish I found it as easy as I used to find Screamtracker back in the day lol

This is great earned a sub I have the emu 6400 and 1604 cr that is the easiest way to achieve there sound relatively speaking but this is a really good solution for those on a budget or lack of space great work

Apparently Dillinja used to run his mixdowns to DAT so loud that the noise floor would be almost running red 🤣😂
Similarly people used to push up the gain on a bass through a Mackie mixer to get mixer noise over the bass (Dom & Roland iirc)
I'm sure Dillinja did both those technique and others like slamming in EQ & compressors :) 🔊✌️

I think I'm a bad D&B fan because when I listen to those old live tapes I wonder why MCs were so popular at raves.

My favorite Dillinja technique is when he would filter cutoff the crash cymbal at the end of the amens and it would sound something like 8:18.
Thats more of a pitch envelope / shift on that hit, but I feel ya.
