My daughter has an older version of this that I got her for Christmas a few years ago. She still loves it. This new one will make for a nice upgrade this Christmas, and maybe perhaps time to introduce my younger ones to it, as well.
I have the 11 that my sister gave me because she likes the printer better. I love the 11 it’s so much better than the 8 I use to have. I just hate opening that selfie lens because mine never likes to pop out. I almost broke it but luckily was able to pop it back into place. I’m glad they fixed that in this one and that you can line things up better. Still not sure if it’s worth upgrading to though. Great review! ☺️

I was waiting for this to upgrade from my instax 11, but after seeing you have to twist the knob to turn it on and off on the 12 vs just pressing the button then pressing the lens down to turn on and off on the 11. I’m gonna definitely stick with my mini 11
Fuji could even add a variable aperture for exposures outdoors - that might be easier than getting the shutter to move faster. It doesn't have to include aperture blades; a black sheet with a hole in it that moves into the optical path would suffice
God I wish Fujifilm would make an Instax camera for photo nerds with manual controls and wide aperture. Frustrating that you can only get this from people who manually splice Instax and medium format cameras together on the other side of the planet (I live in norway).

I dig the wide printer, but I want a better daily instax mini camera!!! I do not understand why Fuji has yet to create a higher quality Mini Camera ... the Neo 90 was awesome, but after 2 of them giving up the ghost, I went with and 11 and a 40 ... not nearly as good quality!! Maybe I am not the right demographic for them!!!
@Gordon Laing Recently got an evo. Nice concept but it has issues with lines in the prints. You can tell that it is a hybrid because images do lack the instax dreamyness.
@@anujdaniel1771 After a year or so the battery wouldn't work ... something inside the camera stops working, I even tried a new battery and that didn't help.
A tip I've picked up for outdoor shots (using Mini 9) is to tape over the flash, and to play around with the settings instead of going with what the camera suggests. A bit of a learning curve, but I've managed to get some decent shots this way with some practice. The 11 and 12 makes this more challenging, but I am wondering how much of a difference outdoor photos would have if the flash were at least taped?
@@cameralabs I've found this to be true, so long as it's a wide open landscape. I've had scenic photos go dark because a hint of foreground (it wasn't even in the two meter range!). Still love these cameras, but definitely a learning curve in what they're capable of. Edit: But then again, it's probably because of the Mini 9. Sounds like maybe it's not as prominent in the 11/12 since they're automatic.

My mini 11 just stopped working literally yesterday so I went to target today to get the 12. I haven't opened it yet because I found on offerup a mini 11 for $40, but this video helped sell me on the 12 lol
6:20 washed out looked does look better on the left from the old one. the flash catch light in the eye is bigger and more attractive on the left as well. is the flash unit different?
i really like the look of mini 90 but is it even close to 12? i like the basic look in cameras and this whole toyish look doesn't suit me too much. or is 40 better than 90 and should i get it instead?
The print quality is essentially the same on them all, so buy the body you most like the look of. I've reviewed the 40, so check that video out as well.
For the mini 12 does it still adjust exposure automatically? I was leaning towards the 9 because the photos look more similar to old school Polaroids but those are hard to find

@cameralabs I don't know what market sell the fugi 26. I bought one on ebay and one on goodwill autions..the 26 seem to have features of lcd read outs and can turn the flash off etc.I hope you can find one to at least to look at I think I like it better then my 9 and fugi 11 better.

But I cannot find an answer anywhere on the internet. When I put the camera on close up mode, and I look trough the lens, I noticed a white corner on the down left corner. Is dat normal? I have an SQ6 which I’ve owned for the last two years. It’s so frustrating wasting money on prints that are out of focus or offset to one side. The Instructions are also very unclear.
The digital versions or printers let you preview before printing, but some prefer the more random nature of the analogue models. I agree it us frustrating and expensive when they don't work out.
if you don't have the mini link, can you use your instax mini camera and take a photo of the picture that you want but it's on a phone. like I put a picture on my phone that I like and I take a photo of that with my camera. does this make sense or am I waffling? 😂
I just bought one and the lens mechanism feels flimsy, like I would have to pay attention not to accidentally Skip "on" to "selfie/ close up mode." Did you have this issue?
@@cameralabs I bought a second unit. It is better, but not exactly robust then my first 12 unit. I'm unimpressed with the build quality compared to the 11, I understand it is $10 cheaper than before with more features. I'm gonna keep it, but I'm also going to hold onto my mini 11 (it was my first insta film camera).
@@cameralabs I got the impression that the mini 12 has more colorful pictures (due to the adjustment of the lamp probably). comparing mini 12 and sq1 is it a visible difference?
@@katbanwro nope, they're both fully analogue, so no lamp and similar quality. Just different print shapes. These are not digital models with printers. Please watch my reviews of both of them.
@@marianja_ Because they get used for a few packs of very sub par instant pictures and then end up in landfill, a wifi printer used with a phone is by far a better solution. But, sure, each to their own.
Come on, Fuji you can do better than this. I'm tried of being continuously disappointed by this division, which should know better. Don't get me wrong, I shoot several hundreds of instax a year. But I'm getting tired of every camera being more penny pinched every iteration.

Yes, it is useful for a little manual override, but still over-exposes bright scenes I find.
It's still better than polaroid... You have to be on the surface of the Sun to get a good picture

None of them are waterproof. Actually there's no instant camera in the market that is waterproof.

The flash only has an effect on subjects within about 2m, so if the subject is further, like a landscape, it makes no difference if it's taped or not.

No, I think it's the same flash unit BUT the 12 now reduces the power a tad when set to closeup mode.

I've never heard of the 26! I think it might be for North America market only. It's certainly not in Europe or UK.

The quality is the same - it's down to the film on these analogue models. Same film, same quality and colours.

Yes it's normal, it's the viewfindetradjusting a bit to compensate for parallax when shooting close vs faraway. You can see a demo of it in my video

If you're going somewhere bright and want outdoor daytime photos then I'd get a Mini Link printer instead and shoot with your phone.

I just bought one and the lens mechanism feels flimsy, like I would have to pay attention not to accidentally Skip "on" to "selfie/ close up mode."

Well they're fairly cheap cameras, so it's not going to be super smooth or tough, but no, I wouldn't say it could accidentally slip.
@@cameralabs I bought a second unit. It is better, but not exactly robust then my first 12 unit. I'm unimpressed with the build quality compared to the 11, I understand it is $10 cheaper than before with more features. I'm gonna keep it, but I'm also going to hold onto my mini 11 (it was my first insta film camera).

No, it's not a digital camera, so a memory card will have zero use. Kinda makes Currys seems a bit dim.

Just different cases with some extra controls you may or may not use. Same image quality.

They're the same print quality, just different shapes. Check out my reviews of them all

@@katbanwro nope, they're both fully analogue, so no lamp and similar quality. Just different print shapes. These are not digital models with printers. Please watch my reviews of both of them.

I know, I mention this in my Mini 11 review, but for this current series, they effectively skipped from 9 to 11 in terms of evolution, upgrades etc.
Come on, Fuji you can do better than this. I'm tried of being continuously disappointed by this division, which should know better.
Don't get me wrong, I shoot several hundreds of instax a year. But I'm getting tired of every camera being more penny pinched every iteration.
