I went to my skate rink and tried this for the first time as a beginner skater and my thighs hurt for a week haha! A great workout for my legs! Im saving up for my own skates so i can practice more often
I've wanted to learn how to skate since i was like 7- but i was always afraid of falling, because i was terrible at walking as it was. I just dug out my mom's skates at 1'30 am, strapped em on, and practiced standing in my room, it might not seem like a lot, but it is to me, because i've been scared to even put skates on! but now that ive discovered this video im confident i can learn to skate fairly quickly.
Its been a year at least since you posted this comment. How is your skating experience so far?
Ummm let me find out U are the best damn skater of us all..😁Imma b soo Proud.. Hope all is well
A tip for those working on bubbles!! To make yourself use the right muscles, I time my breathing. Out when pushing your feet out, and breathe in when bringing your feet in! Makes you bring your gut up :)
"so what we're gonna do-"
*DOES A TURN AND STARTS TO SKATE BACKWARDS*
me at home: well, that's just crazy. i can't do all that right now. *shovels popcorn into mouth*
Your explanations are always on point and very clear, I can't wait till you upload more videos!
THANK YOU! Also thanks to both my mom and dad. They were very into skating technique when they taught and did not let me take shortcuts. They had different teaching styles but were very strict with form.
This is the ONLY tutorial I understood about braiding/crossing over/cruising like this!!!! Thanks Dirty Deb 🙏
In some type of way i love hearing her skate roll around the rink. It soothing
You are such an excellent teacher. Love the way you break the steps down, and make beginners feel good about not being able to skate perfectly when they first start skating.
You are so welcome! I am so happy for beginners to be starting out on their skating journey!
You taught me how to do that!! I do it all the time now! FUN✌🏼
Um, how do you stop sweating? You're just so effortless and amazing. Can you do a tutorial on how to stop sweating?
I am going to do a video on what to do to get to that "zen" state of skating. Stay tuned. OH … and PRACTICE :)
Enjoy the sweat! Means you're working hard! (but yes, yuck, I know what you mean)
Love your tutorials!I got outside & tried “cruising” & fell 3 times 🤦🏾♀️. I looked down! You were right; don’t look down.🙅🏾♀️Thanks
Knowing what you are doing wrong is a great personal discovery. I am making a tutorial about skating outdoors in rough areas, stay tuned.
This has to be the most used step (skate) I used both on floor and trails. Its relaxing and I can dance to my music without much effort (kinda of resting mode yet keep with the beat...cruising)
I have been searching all over for this basic skate move. I see it everywhere but didnt know what it's called. Cruising!!!!😊 At 54 going to practice a ton! Thanks again!
I practice every weekend for a couple of hours if the weather is ok. In the last two weeks I have begun to skate backwards with confidence, do crossovers both ways (a bit messy the ‘ wrong’ way, but not awful), cruised and even managed a few very tentative transitions!
When I feel unsure about my skating I watch Deborah’s videos and reassure myself that practice is the key and is in fact what we are always doing!
Thank you from a skater reborn.
Oh I am so happy to read this. There will be struggle but through that struggle is growth!!
I must say that I practiced this last weekend at the skater park and I caught myself having a "Dirty Deborah" voice in my head telling me "don't look at your feet", "snack area TIGHT", "down with the butt up with the gut" hahaha :D But IT WORKED!!! Thank you!!! :) Can you make a video on how to skate downhill? It really scares me because I don't feel that I can stop. I am practicing my transitions but the area here isn't very flat so there are tons of small up-and-downs.
I'm 50 in London where there are no classes because of lockdown and teaching myself to skate and yours are the best videos I have found by a mile. lOVE 💖 and love your personality 😊
I love her! Because she's thick on skates! She has hips like me! Which proves u don't have to be a size 2 to skate well!!!! U r soooooo beautiful 👍🍭⚘❤😊👌😁
Here's to all who have always had hips :) Center of balance is located in our hips, hips need to be low when skating to maintain balance hence girls with big hips can skate :)
Everyone I follow for skating tips are on plus size side and they are all so strong athletic and talented im tiny so whenever I ask friends to get some to practice with me they always use their size as an excuse until I show them who I’m learning from ❤️
People at the only skating rink near me are very rude. I've tried my best to make friends with them but they won't even give me the time of day since they already have all their little cliches. Thank you for the video though! I've been trying these out for a while but I've learned some new tips!
Awww damn! I hate to hear that! Can you form your own "skate crew?' The Nice Ones :)
Dirty School of Skate none of the regulars are nice. Have yet to meet one of them.
@@myherolimps3813 keep going! Keep rollin'. Your skate family will show.
Gurl you gained one follower from Italy. Just bought my skates and ready to learn and rock the streets.
I just went to a skating rink today with my family for the first time in 6 years. I have to admit... I was a total noob again lol; I had to re-teach myself how to skate again. This was super helpful and useful!!! I love your enthusiasm and how you explained every step! After watching this video.. im super hyped for this next time I'm going skating again; can't wait to try all these new tricks.
I love how you try to harvest skaters with style, that’s reason I started roller skating!
YES! Mechanics 1st, flow 2nd and then STYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harvesting skaters sounds like what a horror movie villain would do
I learned so much in a month I just realized I learned this on my own to get comfortable with crossovers. Front and back dont forget people.
The way how you explain step by step what need to be done to achieve the goal is absolutely amazing. 🙌🏻
It's motivating and encouraging.
Thank you.
Hi Deborah! Thank you! I returned to skating with my kids. We all love it. After a month my kids were still "walking" on their skates. We watched your videos, They were practicing ✂️ and skating well in a day. Your vocab and process of breaking it down is just what we needed. Now we practice by wearing our skates all day while we homeschool. And we pick a new skill to focus on from your videos. We skate outdoors along the beach. We are at the rink once a week with other homeschool families! We have been telling them all about you, now I am teaching homeschool Kids how to skate at the park. Thank you! We could not do it without you! Brisbane, Australia fan club!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Home School class here. Skating brings the generations together so I am so happy you are doing it with your kids :) What rink are you at?
@@Dirtydeborahharry our main rink is Skateaway Albany creek, skateaway.net.au/ for the homeschool met up. Sometimes on Saturday's or Friday nights we go to Stafford skate centre (the rink of my youth😀) www.staffordskatecentre.com.au/index.html We like to spend as much time as possible on our skates, at home, beachside and our rink. Hopefully we get to road trip around the USA in the future and come to FVSC!!!
You are so great! I am learning to skate at 33 all by myself and I had no idea how stuff works and what to do with which part of my body. But you explain it so well that I not only know that I have to practice, but HOW I have to practice. I am already making progress thanks to you. Thank yooooou! Sending love from Vienna, Austria.
there’s not a lot of skaters on youtube, you’re so helpful!! been watching for a while and been skating since september of 2018, these videos have helped tremendously!
I just want to let you know how much I appreciate this videos. No roller skate culture in my country, no roller rink, but I love it and practise it alone on outside concrete floor. You are the only teacher I have access to so I hope you will continue filming this type of videos!
You’re a life saver thank youuuu. Been dying to know how to do this and you broke it down really well. Learning to skate while quarantining is keeping me sane!
Send a video of you skating as a simple attachment to dirtyschoolofskate@gmail.com. No audio necessary. Film in landscape. I will put you in our "Home Skate" montage #2 video on CZcams!
Best Rollerskating videos on yt! Thanks! 🙏🏽
I can’t help but enjoy every moment of your charisma🌼
Thank you for your videos! Taking my granddaughters skating for their first time 💜😊 can’t wait to share one of my favorite past times with them. Wooo Hooo!
Just started skating and everything I've seen you do has helped me so much love it
Amazing teaching skills and fun.I subscribed within seconds.Getting my first pair of roller skates in two weeks.Very happy I found your channel.
Hey Deborah your videos are Great. I just went roller skating Friday night 4.5.19 for the First time in 30+ years and I had So Much FUN!!. I will definitely be checking out all of your videos. You Rock
I have been wanting to learn how to do that. Thank you.
Yesss!!! I tried doing this last night but I am so happy I have found this video.
Love your channel. I’ve been binge watching your videos all day and came across this one. I was at the rink last night and a group of guys were doing this and made it look so hard 😩 I found this video and you made it look so easy just by teaching the mechanics. Thank you so much! You’re beautiful btw ☺️ 💕
I really love your teaching style ,giving me a lot of help.
Thank you for these videos Dirty. They are so helpful in teaching people how to skate.
Love these videos! Please explain the shuffle, thanks
Your explaining is awesome! I practiced and now I really can do this! In the beginning I always lost speed but then I got the right feeling. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this, I can’t wait to try it! 🙏🏽💜
Thank u SO MUCH! I’ve been skating the beginners way sense I was 10, but over time I’ve seen others flying around the rink doing other styles, this was one I wanted to learn. Now I’m going to go practice.
Dang i miss doing this back in the day 😊 we used to add the trucking move to go around the turns. Best times of my life.
To the beat of the music is the most important part, its not just willy nilly
love your tips Deborah, amazingly informative, your my teacher!!
One of my fave videos. The way you break it down. Watched this one a few times. Thanks Debbie
I'm still a beginner, but I think I have seen all of your tutorials and making tons of progress! And I did teach a friend just three days ago how to skate forward! Thanks!
You're a great teacher. Really. As someone who teaches, you make this exciting to learn. Will subscribe. Thank you! ❤🎉
We love your explanation 👏
Please don’t ever stop making these videos. They are detailed and super helpful ❣️
I took a cruise, but it wasn't on skates! It was on a boat.
You really have to master crossovers before you cruise. It makes it much easier.
Dirty Deborah is an excellent teacher. She really is!!
This is the video i've been waiting for, thank you! I kind of puzzled it out on my own but it's good to know I was on the right track
Awesome! Teach thyself! Add to your knowledge and now teach others :)
Love this! Thank you Dirty Deb! The BEST!!! 💜💜💜
I love watching your videos I’ve gotten so much better. Thank you 😊
This is exactly what I wanted to learn how to do. Had no idea what it was even called glad I watched all your videos. I never realized two wheels were up in the front.
I love your energy! 💛
YAAY! I totally understand this technique now! Thank you for sharing. 😁
Thank you so much for the videos! I just picked up skates again for the first time since I was a kid. While I cruised all over the neighborhood back then, I realized I would have to relearn it all as an adult! Your videos have helped me get back to skating with confidence in no time at all! I look forward to all your future videos!
Awesome video! I've always wanted to do this!
I’m so eager for the next video!!😁❤️
Finishing it tonight to release it tomorrow if Xavier and I can get our sh*t together :)
Thank you so much!! I’m going to take all your advice. Please don’t stop your teachings❤️
I Promise I Love The Videos!!! Thx for adding the sound Sis!😘
dirty deb!!!! bless my sweet little infant skater soul with some of your knowledge PLS because this is the most elegant thing i've ever seen. i watched this video because my mind was blown in your outdoor video and it just confuses the heck out of me?! i feel like i've watched tons of outdoor, beginner skate videos and no one else has really taught it this way?! i love it, i'm just at a loss about how to go about doing it!
The key to becoming a great (smooth) skater is SCISSORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can not do too many scissors. Scissors help you with balance, maintaining edges and gaining strength. So … really practice your scissors and I promise your skating will get better.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm getting my first pair of skates today and I can't wait to start practicing
I'm currently in the rink sharing this video to teach my friend new to roller skates!! thx much :)
to me ur videos r the best :)
Just found your channel!! I was immediately hooked, man! I love your moves and method of teaching. Thank you for teaching me how to add more funk to my skating routine 🤠

Your videos give confidence on skates!
I love your videos!! Thank you!
This is the best thing ever!!
These are the best videos ever created 😭‼️
I love your videos. You have great teaching skills. I am learning so much from you. Thx.
This is great! Its something I've been practising on my own - i practice in an empty parking lot with outdoor wheels. I love my bubbles/scissors. Haven't been able to practice for a few days so hope i havent lost anything!
Good on you for practicing on your own. Most skaters will not do that. You will continue to get better.
Down with the but, up with the gut! Legend, you are the best D!
Very fun!! While I was trying the front crossovers this seemed like a middle way, loved :). Learned really fast
She Always Teaches me i always do everything 1st try shes amazing keep up the good work!❤
Your helping me a lot, my skates came in today and they are really great
these videos are so so helpful! thank you so much!
I watched this before I went out tonight and spent an hour and a half at the rink working on getting it...and it worked! Thank you so much! I haven’t been able to figure out how to get my feet to crossover until today. It’s starting to feel more natural and have a better flow because of this video and I can see how many other things I’m working on will benefit! Thank you💕
Day 3 of skating! We are now more upright than falling down! Thanks for these awesome video!
You’re a great teacher!
I hope the music is loud! So no one hears me say! Down with the But! Up with the Gut😣
Say it loud. Say it proud! lol!
Honestly there are those of us already out there saying it either in our heads or out loud, so you’d just be part of the club 😉 ❤️
