My old buddy Rob, known him for 30 years, came by and said his fuses kept blowing..and asked if i had a "40 amp" for him. I took one look at his system and knew i had to do something. I fixed him up and got him on the road. I told him, when i have time, i will go through and fix all this stuff for you. It's BAD. REAL Bad. In a funny way. I guess he got it mostly like this. I built a new box for my friend and played that track for him and now it’s one of his favorite songs to bump. Those higher notes hit sooooo hard on 10s

This was a great vid to demo how important it is to upgrade electrical when running any power above 600 to 800 watts rms. Very happy you demo'd the real difference. Too many unknowing ppl buying these 2000k + amps on stock electrical, rediculous.

I had a 78 Lincoln cont. with a 300a alt. running two yellow tops. I ran the entire stereo off of the rear battery, LOVED it. I ran two JL comp 10s and a comp 10 mtx in a crankin crates dual bandpass. without having a strong alt and storage for those angry pixes, any system will not run like it is supposed to.

Nice! A Mechman 240A (and XS Power D3400) is exactly what i put in my old 90s Chevy Suburban. It gets the job done not only for my 2KW stereo, but the blower motors and headlights, etc. The stock electrical sucked even before i put in a system.
Sweet, mechman makes great alternators,I run one on my 04 powerstroke. 320 amp at 1800 rpm. Nice Steve what a good friend you are. Caddy project?
Those Mechman alts look sweet as. I wish they could do one for a Nissan Patrol. I need some extra juice but can't find a decent high output alt anywhere to replace the stock one. The search goes on. Great job Steve with the 12 Vid series.

I added the GM 140 amp heavy duty alternator and a optima yellow top(XS Power wasn't even around then) to my old Saturn SL2. That was setup for the audio only and it was night and day. Making a custom bracket and pigtail for an addon alt/battery setup isn't that hard, finding a drive belt the right size was the hardest part.
It ran a Pioneer DEH-80P, RF T2 6.5 comps on a RF T600-4 , Sundown X12 on a RF T1500-1 and that shit bumped like mad and sounded *AMAZING* !!
I bought a Subaru BRZ and I miss that system soooo bad.
I should say I hadn't heard of XS Power when I bought that Optima. It worked fine for what I needed.
Man, great video. Great truck. I need an alternator like that in my truck. Wish I could get that kind of power. I have a double cab Ram with the subs under the seat. Can't do a ton with the space under there. No room for big power. I can't sacrifice my back seats for beat, lol.

Well I'm glad I watched this! I was gonna try a 1500 in my Suzuki but if he's dropping to 11's on a 100a alt my 80a will just die. LOL! Guess I'll just upgrade to a 1200 and call it good. Sweet build for sure!
You can run duel batteries in that truck by using a stock gm battery tray from a diesel
Jay Whittemore some of the Gas Tahoes and Yukons Have the Extra Tray as well

This build is like night and day from when the truck arrived! I have a few questions I didn’t see answered in comments, but may have missed. 1) Is there a way to calculate how much smaller the belt will need to be with the smaller diameter alternator pulley or is it trial and error? I’m considering the Mechman 240 for my Cobalt , but I just barely need it for my setup. 2) Was something done to keep the no charge/ battery light from staying on? I saw where you got something from Singer to keep the light off and regulate the voltage above 14v for your Lexus and wonder if Rob got that. I’m not sure if it’s available to the public or special made for you. 3) Can you share some advice about selling beats? I drive trucks, but make beats in my spare time and need a good source of info about publishing and making them visible to artists.

Does the mechman alt bump up the voltage by 1 or 2 volts along with the amperge output I had a old ford alt that did 17 volts 100 amps

Should have used a rubber boot on the alternator's positive terminal. Wouldn't want to short out that new alternator the next time he works on his engine.

You should change the backlight timer on that SPL Lab DB meter thingy so it doesn't keep going out on you when you are filming. At 10:53 where it said common settings, Light off 10 seconds. Does it let you set it for longer time?
And I'd love to make a small generator out of that old alternator. I see people do that on CZcams using an old lawn mower engine, a car alternator a 12 volt battery and a power inverter.

Just go to common settings and then press ok or enter and it should give you options to keep the backlight on longer like press left or right buttons and it should change it. I looked up a manual online but the one shown is a little different than yours.

I've seen all videos up until this one. Looks bad ass, I have a OBS like that one but with the Vortec head and the newer Interior (96 Silverado). Everything looks OEM. The only thing I'd want is to keep the back bench since I have people 60% of the time taking the back seats lol. But great work!

Was wondering any videos on testing while adding extra runs of ground and power ground wire before and after testing or maybe with 1 run of both then 2runs then 3 runs with testing after each run added would love to see that I'm about to be doing that for my ride soon adding 1 or 2 runs of power n ground
