Even your "abandon-able" sketches are beautiful.
I cannot believe I just watched a bunch of scribbles turn into a perfectly formed fashion illustration right before my eyes. Thanks. Wonderful and inspiring.
I learned more from this video than I did in college, getting a degree in fashion design...Our illustration "class" was just a model, and no instruction. I payed THOUSANDS for those classes, btw...
Really learned a lot in 20 mins. Today I'm going to practice the action pose and just letting it be free. Also paying not too much attention on too much detail in the beginning...light comes from left side! I ASPIRE too develop my skill like you. Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Oh god you make it seem so easy
Man I wish I would've seen this tutorial when I was younger, when I was drawing princesses all the time. I woulda been the best princess drawererer of all. Seriously though, thanks. Super helpful and exactly what I was looking for! Thanks, Yelen.
Love watching the simplicity of the stylized line art. Simple Simple Simple, fast and it resembled something that you could recognise as a fashion illustration. :-)
i wish i could draw that well, its so beautiful, i wanna capture my vision
Thank you for creating this video. I am taking Fashion Illustration at the Community College and we spent an entire evening on drawing stick figures and proportioning the fashion model.
I learned how to draw bodies better by going to the library and getting books... My favorite book is entitled "9 heads". It was super explanatory and helpful. When I went to Fashion school I found the same book in my resource library, check it out!
Holy crap, this was an awesome tutorial! Why? (I'm glad you asked!) The layers that you used helped to establish the idea, then build up on it without it being a cluttered mess that seemed to go no where - a problem I often have when I (try to) draw. Even though I've heard this idea many times, you presented it in a new way. The lines you drew also helped to give convincing form and realism to the design. You were fast and efficient, and you made it look SIMPLE! Thanks for the post!
I want to be a fashion designer so bad the progress is beginning to come out in my drawing and sketches naturally
Great tutorial helps a lot!!
Thanks!! I will try and I hope I can learn aging !!!!! It's been 20 years and I never practice but I am going to star all over again!!! Wish me luck
I first did not know what he was doing at the beginning, but then I liked his illustration later..
I love drawing juxtapose or counterpose style poses like the ones at 6:50. Not "too" hard to draw but its so much more interesting looking than just standing straight.
this was the one tutorial i always come back 2 cause i also like watching this video(: it helped me a long time ago and i'm still watching it(:
I love how positive the comment section is :) This is a really helpful tutorial as I love Moscow street fashion and I want to design outfits inspired by the culture of it. I find it hard to not add intricate details early in the sketch process so this could really help me nail the pose and anatomy rather than the face and hands etc.
I love your wind chimes outside, the way you draw is not what I expected but it makes so much sense now the way fashion concept art looks.
You doing a perfect draw. I'm an older lady, and now I saw your job. Thanks..
I’m 11 years late to this video, but just have to comment. Wow!! This was so neat to watch! I wish he had a whole playlist of these tutorials…
its amazing how you can make something so simple, beautiful
I seriously needed this. This was my major problem when i was trying to start hand drawing my sketches. i couldn't grasp how and where i should start when making illustrations and it seriously bothered me. This just made everything a lot easier.
absolutely fantastic!!!!! simplicity, coupled with elegance and all the trimmings of fashion...i NEEDED THIS !!!!
That's why I LOVE COPIC markers, because if you color with it, especially red, it will looks like really fabric!
Well, this just popped up and made me happy! I tell people that I cannot sketch. Any other art or craft, sure, I can do it! Calligraphy, even...yes! Sketching and painting, not so much.
You have inspired me to "try less", if that makes sense! Just let it go and loose my perfectionism. That's what kills my drawing.
Hope you are doing well amidst the crazy stress of 2020.
Blessings and gratitude from Texas!
A strong hug from Brazil dear teacher!!!
you are so effin awesome. thank you for this. so minimal and thoughtful
Amazing talent! Even his first rough sketches looked awesome. Thanks for sharing this!
This is my favorite video I've watched in a long time. Thank you! Very inspirational!
So effortless! I spend too much time getting detailed right away, this video is a huge help! Thank you!!
not a fashion designer (my sister is) but I come here to improve my gesture drawings and these videos are very helpful, many thanks Yelen...
I love drawing but never could get the hang of gestures. I see these character artists doing gesture sketches in less than 5 mins and I'm like "tell me your secrets" lol...
this takes lots of practice!! the approach that you use for this sketch is a good one. it is easier to sketch the countour that you want, then apply the actual shape of the body afterwards. it is a quicker process!
You are a great teacher quick, concentrated & organized love it and thank you 🤗😍
wow I took Yelen's class when I was in PCC love this teacher!
Thanks for this video. It makes me sketch better and easier than before.
Your video amazed me.I like the fact that you did that in just a couple of minutes.
What a great teacher you are. Thank you.
We need more tutorials from Yelen he is a great artist 😍😍👍
I found this really helpful!! I'm trying to get into this really famous school and one problem I had with sketching was thinking too much about it and worrying while I draw. You made it look so easy and I hope that with a little more practice I can send in a portfolio that will hopefully get me a scholarship!! Thank you so much!
Candace Silcott Same problem here haha
Candace Silcott how did it go?
Thank you!! Love the way you make it simple and easy ;)
i love you
Um, why have I struggled for so long lol. So simple. Thank You.
I tried my first sketches! Thank you so much man :O Hope i can get through all this stuffs and start fashion design in this amazing school in Paris
Love this, Yelen! Thank you so much!
Thank you very much, for the tutorial and advice,oh and the mistake you mentioned that most fashion designers make like you said is in taking a work too seriously and then having trouble abandoning it that is a problem that I encounter a lot.
thanks! i enjoyed seeing your sketches come to life.
Absolutely brilliant. Easy to follow. Thanks
you've drawn such wonderful figures and an extraordinary design yet very classy...
had been searching for tutorials on fashion sketches and i think this video is best....keep it up
the master of fast sketching !! very helpful thanks ^^
oh my God..you're successfully taught me how is the simplest way to start all this thing..thank you.
this tutorial is amazing. i've been drawing all my life but with more of a comic style, not professionally and lacking form. introduced a bit of proportion and your technique bam looks great.
thank you so much for the tutorial!! I love fashion design, but I always suck at the sketches, I'm not a good drawer. I think I get it now, I pay too much attention to detail. The structure really helped me understand it better. Thank you!!!
This is the best tutorial ever! My sketches look amazing now!!!
Beautiful technique. Love it!
Simply loved your illustrations!
Thank you for posting this mini lesson!

wow! I loved this video! I always stress about getting the body sketch just right but this video showed me that I don't really have to stress about it when I can just do something like this and fix the body later :)
He's talking is actually really educational. :3
I love it! and I love the voice of Yelen
You make it look so easy!
sat here for five minutes with mouth open and hands up. like hoooow though. I love the sketching not sure if its as effortless as you make it seem theres an assumption of being able to sketch.
Great! you make the whole thing simple.
Amazingly practical! Many thanks!!
More of those tutorials would be amazing !
i think this is the easiest way... thanku so much sir.
Thank you for your video! I have been struggling and spending a lot of time doing my sketches to the real model. hope you can make more videos...Brilliant!
I love this style of drawing and have been wanting to incorporate it into my technique! Instant-follow :)
Great tip about warm up sketches it's always take me a few trys to get a figure I can work with. Your finished product looks nothing like mine do but I will keep on practicing
Superb drawings! Wow! I really love the style. ;-)
(If only I could ever learn to do that...?! Of course, experts make everything look really simple, straight forwards, and, easy. But, for someone who can't actually draw very well; then, indeed, it's tremendously difficult...with mistakes being made all over the place...!)
Your style of drawing is amazing! I loveee it!
I appreciated your commentary. Made it very informative
Yelen post more like this please
You have a very nice line! I like your comment about one should not be to precious about the strokes, I really need to practice that. Thank you for posting great stuff and also for showing the tools you use in detail :D
