    I have seen another tutorial and it was nowhere near as easy and hassle free.
    Thank you for showing this method!

    The old power steering fluid actually looks like Vimto. 😂

    Great video. Just done mine with this method. But on my car, for some reason, you have to actually start the car. And boy does it come out quick. Too quick to be able to top it up at the same speed. So had to clear the air after. The stuff that came out was brown and sludgy. Now it's a nice bright red.

      Yeh if you turn the engine on it will come out fast. So did it not come out when just turning ignition key once and turning the wheel left to right?

    Have you considered the PAS relocation? I think common theory/knowledge is the hydraulic fluid boiled/baked as its a small volume sat ontop of the engine, was thinking about doing this myself, but interested in your thoughts. I kinda assumed its was typically DOT 4/ 5.1 brake / hydraulic fluid, so I was going see if I can get a higher temperature resistant fluid, but I see its transmission fluid. Did you paint your PAS tank? looks really neat *edit just realised it’s a paintmodz cover , still neat

      Yeh considered it but it's a cost I don't really need to pay at the mo. Just doing this fluid change has actually made a difference, I did a small test and the steering feels better than it did before. It's something I may do once a year. Or if like this year's it's barely been driven at all then may only need to do once every few years.
      Ha yeh the gloss black Paintmodz stuff is so nice

    How did you dispose of the old fluid? I don't really wanna chuck it down the drain lol

      not done anythng with it yet. I assume a recycling place might do it as taken old oil and car batteries there before. But i will hand it to my bro inlawy who is mechanic as taking my car for MOT and oil change this weekend

      @@DriveWithAndy Ah cool thanks Andy, when I had an apprenticeship at a garage we had these big oil drums for all the waste fluids and oil drenched rags. I would like to do all my own servicing but got no idea where to put all the waste stuff haha, but yeah recycling place sounds good.

    How many years and miles/km the old steering fluid had?

    • @DriveWithAndy
      @DriveWithAndy  Před 2 lety +1

      Can't say for certain but for all I know it's never been done. But with mine not being totally black I'd say it's had a change in its life. But for the cost and ease to do it's something worth doing. Nice knowing it's done

      @@DriveWithAndy Ok, thanks. Sure, it worth it. I will do it in a few days, in a 2005 Ford Fiesta JH1 1.25 Duratec (75Cv) with 126 000 km.

      @@DriveWithAndy But you used ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid, in the power steering instead of power steering fluid!!! 😬😬🤔

      @@DriveWithAndy Well, I asked my mechanic today after he repaired my car if he had some power steering fluid but no. Then he without me being fast enough to stop him, put Automatic transmission fluid in there. He said "it's ok" but when I then read about it it says you should only do that with some cars and when in a pinchwhen you don't have anything else. Apparently it will tear and wear out the power steering pump's and other valve seals(?) so it will leak more later!?? 🤷
