Garlic Junior is the actual name funnily enough. He was a character in the Dead zone movie, brought back for a filler arc. TFS tends to skip filler, so this was their way of just skipping to be entire ark with an episode like " Yeah, it happened, let's move on"
Skipping arcs leaves material to be discovered in The Official Release for new audiences.

First, the people wanting you to do the subtitles, ignore them. The Canadian ones do you have a lot of funny Easter eggs, but sometimes they spoil things and so it’s not good for the first viewing.
Also, Garlic Jr is actually his real name. Akira Toriyama was really fond of his puns.

You're the second person to say ignore the subtitle requests, lol! Both your explanation and the other subs give me good reason to not keep them on.
They should be viewed on a second viewing, not a first. They are very funny...but really distract from what is going on in the video
@@OnMyMindEntertainment yeah not only do those subtitles ruin things but they go a mile a minute. You would need to constantly pause to read half the jokes. Good for a 2nd or 3rd viewing. Never for the first.
It's less a pun and more how Akira Toriyama just named his characters. Bulma and her family is all named for various sorts of undergarments because you have Dr. Briefs, Bulma is a play on bloomers, and now Trunks. Saiyans are all named for vegitables. The Ginyu Force are all Dairy products, though that is less obvious because Japanese words for them. in OG Dragonball the Red Ribbon Army had people named for colors, and King Piccolo's minions were all musical instruments.

fun fact: eventually COMPLETELY forgetting that the anime made up this woman maron, toriyama wrote that krillin had a daughter during a timeskip, and he named her marron (2 Rs but pronounced the same) and in universe it's a little messed up that either krillin named her after his ex or his wife named her marron and it happened that it was a significant name for her or something so krillin couldn't object

garlic jr is his name and he technically debuted on the first dragon ball z movie "deadzone" which you could closely locate in time as right before the start of z (tho none of the movies really fit in the actual timeline but it can't happen any later) for some reason they gave him a filler mini arc
as for dbza the deadzone movie is later on the playlist because they made it much later, because lani (krillin and vegeta) and masako (goku and gohan) made an abridge version of it a long time ago right before they actually started doing THE dbza so they didn't want to step on their toes and all of that, they made abridged deadzone after they reached a sub milestone and by that point they had better equipment and more experience in everything
And all the intercut Garlic Jr stuff at the beginning and end of this episode are from a short filler arc between the Namek and Android sagas. The Black Water Mist is basically a chemical weapon that once released, turns anyone that breathes it in into a violent bloodthirsty demon. That’s also where the “Walking Zed” clip from the beginning was from. Yamcha breathed in the black water mist during that arc and lost control of himself so everybody had to fight him and he ended up biting Piccolo to infect him and spread the mist’s affect further.
Garlic Jr was his actual name and he was the antagonist for this arc but team four star put him only in this one episode the next episode starts the new arc

So in case you haven't noticed yet, there is a lot of play with names in Dragonball. Kakarot = carrot. Vegeta = vegetable. Nappa = cabbage. The "Briefs" family named after clothing. Bulma = Bloomers. Garlic Jr always has minions named after spices. We would have probably met them more if TeamFourstar didn't turn their 5-6 episode filler arc into a 2 minute Popo joke. : ) It was a good call.
Can’t believe I caught a video when it came out! This is one of the better examples of Team Four Star being creative with the mixes of the original.
What is up with CZcams's notifications, lol!! I never know now when they've drastically changed the story or just the dialogue at this point, lol! It's all still very fun to watch though.

If anyone tells you to turn on the Canadian subtitles, ignore them. The Canadian ones are written by fans who don't know how humor works, and undercut every single joke that TFS makes.
Ah, got it! I'm thinking I'll keep them off. Another sub said the subtitles also spoil things sometimes.

I mean, humor being subjective and all, the Canadian subtitles aren’t the worst thing. Definitely save them for repeat viewings though, not your first run.
Canadian subs are like the jokes you make when you're younger and then when you look back at them years later you're embarrassed of yourself

I personally don't like the Canadian subtitles because they distract you from the performance by the voice actors and break the flow of its comedic delivery. I understand they have pretty witty jokes, but the show hardly needs the help. Anyway-great reaction as always!
First watch through: canadian subs are not the way. Once you've overwatched it and know it all basically by heart, sure, they're fine.
They also add things in besides the dialogue though. Little extra jokes and shit.
Yea Garlic Jr is his real name. Team Four Star also did the movie called Dead Zone that takes place before the actual series started that you might want to check out to give you a better idea of who he is and why he went to the lookout. In the Garlic Jr. arc that this episode skipped over quite a bit of Garlic Jr. goes there to unleash the Black Water Mist which essentially takes over everyone's body that touched it. That's why when they did "The Walking Zed" skit you saw Piccolo getting bit by Yamcha to turn him. I also couldn't find anywhere on your channel if you you watched the DBZ movie called The World's Strongest that they also did. That one takes place before season 2 even.

Okay quick explanation
Garlic jr was introduced as the main villain in one of the movies (dead zone... Not sure if you watched it, probably cuz its one of the older ones, he wishes for immortality and its trap in the deadzone "forever"), for filler the anime brought him back and its an entire thing were he can control people (thats the scene with yamcha biting piccolo) tfs just gets rid of him using popo
And yes his name is Garlic Jr. Son of garlic an evil demon that got vanquish to the dead zone by Kami, garlic jr was trap also in the dead zone in his own movie
The original is actually kinda sad. Maron is sort of a bimbo, dumb innocent and all and she did actually like krillin. At the end Kirllin decides to let her go and she tells him that she would have said yes to is marriage proposal. The episode ends with Krillin crying
