- Today i am in the southern suburb of Gamla Enskede. A really nice area with many cool houses.
Gamla Enskede (Swedish: "Old Enskede") is a district of Enskede-Årsta-Vantör borough, South Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to housing areas, the district includes the Skogskyrkogården woodland cemetery and the smaller Sandsborgskyrkogården cemetery.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Jag besökte Skogskyrkogården tidigare idag. Etthundra tusen gravar, Almhöjden, sju brunnar stig, Greta Garbos grav. Men gamla Enskede är fint det också.

These homes are adorable. I would love to see what a couple of them looked like inside. Very nice area though.
A really nice walk, I grew up in one of the houses you passed, but it’s quite noisy there, between Nynäsvägen and the subway. (Wasn’t so noisy when I moved there in 1964, though.) Unfortunately you totally missed the best part of Gamla Enskede, which is on the other side of Nynäsvägen, in the area around Enskedeskolan. It’s lush and green and so idyllic, and the old wooden houses there are gorgeous. 😍

Good to see this interesting district. Enskede and Enschede have something in common, I haven't been to either. What they don't have in common is that they are pronounced very differently.

I couple of my schoolmates played for Enskede IK. One year foor spring bootcamp they went to Enschede. 🙂

Lilla Gungan was some kind of tavern ca 1800-1850.
The flag you mention is of course a vimpel = wimpel. Not sure about english word for it? Hoisted when there is no special occasion, but you still itch to hoist 🤪 it may also be up after sundown as opposed to the flag.

Since 2007
In Enskede there are areas with "Småhus". Those were meant for labourers to afford houses of their own. These seem mostly not like småhus.
These were the smallest houses I saw haha . Not sure

Edit: also north/west of Sockenplan.
Småhus must be the Swedish equivalent of Victorian terraced housing seen in every British city.
What are your thoughts on living in a colder climate?
It does not bother me at all. It is just a matter of : good shoes , a proper winter jacket and gloves. And you hardly don't even notice it.

These houses cost more than 1.2 million euros most of them.
