The leak was most likely accidental. But the coverup was 100% coordinated and intentional.
I might believe that if this pandemic hadn't been so telegraphed in the years prior.

Let's be honest about the fact that there's no evidence for that either way. I think the impulse to tack on this disclaimer of opinion comes from a subconscious realization that the second part of what you said won't achieve wide acceptance without being packaged with the first. It's a bit of a fig leaf for conformists. Without it, the message is entirely about how they were wrong to go along with the dominant narrative, and if there's one thing I know about conformists, it's that they don't want to put any effort into changing the way they arrive at their beliefs/commitments. To them, going from "which way is the wind of consensus blowing" to "what rationally makes the most sense" is like going from money back to the barter system.
I doubt it was accidental. In October 2019, Bill Gates held a huge simulation called Event 201 practicing scenarios about what they would do if a virus spread. Why he’s involved at all should tell you how things actually work.

My wife asked her OB if the covid vaccine was safe to take for a pregnant woman. She was told her OB was not allowed to advise against it, but no studies have been done on pregnant women.

This isn't an either or situation. It's very possible that both are true.
If one of the test subjects breached containment and was somehow released from the lab and returned to the native population, it could have easily spread the disease to other bats which were then caught and sold on the open market.
The media, of course, will never be open and honest enough with information that we'll know for sure how this happened. Starting to see the problem here?

Yeah, as much as I'm willing to criticize Trump's response, there was a speech where Trump explicitly said "It was probably an accident, but maybe it came from a lab". I think what hurt people's belief that Trump was being sincere is that this was around the same time the Plandemic conspiracies were circling.
But this is the issue with a lot of the authoritative voices here in the US. There is so much of a reflexive reaction to conspiracies that people would rather fully reject the conspiracy than try to parse out what is true, what is not, and what we can't possibly know is true with our current information.

Dr. Gupta is 100% correct. After the SARS outbreak in 2003, CBC in Canada along with ITV & BBC in the U.K. all did Pandemic Documentaries. And all of these documentaries investigated viral outbreaks/breaches from Level-4 Facilities. The two countries that have had the most "accidental outbreaks" were Russia-#2 and China-#1.

Krystal, no one is saying this was "intentionally unleashed". What people are upset about is the lying and lying and lying, and the inability to even debate where this may have come from.

The former is unnerving; the latter is outright frightening because it is so deeply disruptive of the very idea of democracy.
Looking at comments above AND below yours basically is full of comments saying it was intentionally leaked. Besides that, facts are not supposed to be debated, but to be based on evidence. And right now there's zero evidence, and a lot of opinions that are not backed up by evidence. Even Gupta isn't presenting any evidence, and that's how we end up with misinformation and "alternative facts."
Umm, Trump was speculating to the public that it actually was an intentional leak, and that it was done because CHY-na did not want him to win re-election.
@@HaominYuan Gupta isn't presenting any evidence because China has blocked investigations at literally every turn. Their lack of transparency about it is at least probable cause for asking questions. It would be one thing if we had concrete evidence that it wasn't a lab leak and THEN saying "you can't debate the facts".... but the point is that there is just as much evidence and facts for the leak narrative as yours....... which is none at all because China hasn't been forthcoming.

I don't think it was leaked intentionally but I don't agree with Krystal that it's completely "insane and wild" that it was leaked intentionally. It may be highly unlikely but as history shows us a lot of things that are insane and wild can end up being true.

Krystal says Trump took this to a place that is insane and wild. Ok, they said it was impossible for this to have been a lab leak and that it was racists and xenophobic for Trump to have said it was. Now that statement looks entirely plausible, in fact it seems insane and wild to have dismissed the possibility out of hand. Trump said it may have been intentional, which Krystal would say is insane and wild. Is there evidence it wasn’t intentional. China seems to have gotten on top of this very quickly if you can believe their data. Has it even been investigated if the leak was intentional? How can we make such assumptions that it was not intentional except for that Trump stated or implied it was, and well, if Trump said it it is crazy. Do we really believe it’s beyond the possibility that the same government committing genocide agains minority populations in their own country is not also capable of releasing a pandemic on the world to weaken its enemies? If it's probable that this was an accident, then it's also probable that it was on purpose. Especially the fact it was covered up.
With the newest information, It’s probable that it was an accident, and “possible” it was on purpose, is how I would approach it, until further evidence comes out.
It’s also possible that it was a wet market virus as well with current information.
My opinion, I think it was an accidental leak. China was negatively effected by the virus as well, so although it’s possible, I don’t think it’s plausible that it was done on purpose...

Trump said many truthful things (not always in the most appropriate or articulate way) among the lies he would spout. But the media would never acknowledge anything he said that was truthful or positive. As one reporter said, Trump lied more than any president, but he was also lied about more than any president.

You’re not addressing the subject of whether this virus is man made or genetically-altered or not. It’s very important to address that subject.
Right. Zoonotic viruses behave differently than species specific viruses and actually tend to mutate more rapidly, especially with regard to those in the coronavirus family. And we have no way of knowing how long sars-cov-2 continued mutating within its host species before jumping to humans. If SARS Cov-2 spent...let’s say...5 years of mutating before jumping to humans, it’s reasonable to believe that it’s origins are from nature, given the rate at which mutations typically occur within viruses of the coronavirus family. Both theories are probable, yes. But it’s important to look at all the facts objectively from a scientific perspective and let them lead us to the correct hypothesis, rather than look for facts that confirm a preferred narrative. Confirmation bias has no place in science.

Ask anyone who does business in China - they have zero controls and have zero care for risk - it is beyond wild, wild west. Like none of their firms abide by GAAP, no safety standards for workers, briberies are expected, etc... All of which makes it very hard for US companies to compete in that market.

They cant innovate, or retain top talent, and their actual debt to gdp ratio makes us look fiscally sound; there is a better shot of bank run in mainland China than RMB replacing the USD in near term.

Pretty sure that if you have to accept the possibility that it leaked out accidentally, you also have to accept the possibility that it could have been intentionally. Given what the CCP stand for I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.

@mymeeel yes China was the only country to have economic growth in 2020 at 2.3% However that economic growth in 2020 was down to its slowest rate in over four decades. The worlds leading manufacturer isnt going to benefit long term when the worlds economy is shutdown. Nobody knows how many people died in China from Corona because they covered that up like they covered up the leak. The world powers need to join together and move away from trade w China!

I feel like you can't both claim to be a serious scientist and dismiss this as a possible leak. They tried to get out ahead of it with DNA analysis, but given how transmissible it has turned out to be, it's ridiculous to dismiss it may have been engineered.

I never once heard Trump say that the leak was intentional. Is there a video link someone could share? If not, then what makes this show any different from all the others.
Occam's razor. Which scenario requires the fewest favorable variables in order to support the hypothesis?
1) A legimitate virology laboratory in Wuhan which is documented to have been studying corona variety viruses suffered an unintentional protocol breech resulting in unintended exposure.
Or...
2) Coinicdentally in teh same area as the virology lab, an unknown mutation occured in an unidentified species, passed to other unidentified carrier species to a wet market where it made another species jump to humans. All while there have been ZERO carrier species or nonhuman individuals with infection prior to human infection found either in the wet market or anywhere else? They say it jumped species. Okay, as a scientist in order to effectively make that claim, you must identify the individuals within the carrier species BEFORE you can say it went from animal one to animal two. No such evidence exists.
So I ask again, which is more likely to have ocurred? Do you think the Chinese would have a vested interest in denying the lab origin narrative? Just maybe?

3) I am a molecular biologist. Molecular genetics and genomics is what I do for a living. While that might not mean much to you, I do not apprecaite my abilities to research realted topics being smugly and sarcastically insulted. You are free to beleive whatever you wish. Having seen the data myself, and being intimately familiar with laboratory protocols and risks, I am of the firm conclusion that this was a research subject virus which leaked due to protocol failure.

I think its fair to accept that their could have been a lab leak, but also maybe wet markets with so many different live exotic animals are still a bad idea.
