A lot of you guys have messaged me that you're having trouble losing weight, despite diet, exercise etc. In this video I try to run over some of the common things that I have personally seen that get in the way of your weight loss
:) - Jak na to + styl
loving the new camera!!! so much clearer! :)
jackie, i love your videos! youre like the knowledgeable older sister i never had :') i look up to you so much girl!! keep up the great work
ahh you're always sho prettyy!! love your new camera! btw if you want to adjust the lighting, you can either download "magic lantern" and you can adjust it by playing around with the "iso", "shutter speed", "white balance". i have the same camera so i just started to learn about the lighting/features.
I love to see a home tour, congrats on the new place!
i like ur new camera!! (despite the lighting issues but I think u look fine) show us ur room please!! im in the process of reorganizing my room and would like some inspiration xD
i love that you mentioned the thyroid problem because you're right the symptoms for it are super generic and it actually contributes a lot to your weight.
That was so helpful! I really like the way you explained things!
i missed you!!! and i really miss your tutorials!!
do a makeup tutorial on this look! your lashes are amazing :D
even though you mentioned the lighting, I think you look great here! Love your eye make up :)
Any exercise that will get your heart rate racing really. The only thing different is that you switch right after each set to the next exercise (with only a few seconds rest) and do a 3-5 rounds of these depending on your current level. Burpees are great, jump rope, push ups, lunges, squats, sit ups, mountain climbers... Use weights if you want faster results (start with 6lbs to begin with). The other good thing about these is that the workouts are only 20-30mins long ! Hope this helps
This came at a wonderful time for me!! I have been working out and eating right and hadn't been losing weight but I FINALLY lost some weight. I think it was a plateau, but I really appreciate your tips!! :)
I love your makeup here! Also, can you do a professional outfit/makeup video? Maybe like what you wear to work, or something that's generically suitable for young professionals :D
I think portions sizes are really important too!!! eat from a smaller plate and eat slowly when possible! (not always possible, sometimes you're in a hurry.. but at least try to sometimes eat more slowly)
You should do more makeup and beauty videos ! :) I miss them
Yay, thank you for this video! I hope you can keep making more videos!
wow, haven't seen you in a while......glad your back:)
i was wondering earlier today why you haven't been making any videos in three weeks!!! like your videos so much!
This is very informative! I used to have such a hard time quit eating because I love experiencing and cooking all sorts of food. However, on the long run I went from 98lbs to 125lbs at the height of 5'2". I was overweight. I tried all sort of weight loss, now knowing none of them works, even fasting. As of now I found out contributing lots of proteins and fresh fruits are the key and stop eating after 6pm. Go to sleep before 10pm. Drink LOTS of water. Now I'm at 104lbs after 2 mos. :D
i know im not jackie but i've lost a lot of weight in the past few years and what i recommend is that you start working out more than twice a week.. more like 4-5 times a week. also, changing up your workout every other day is a good thing. such as cardio one day, weight training on another day.. interval training, long distance, yoga the list goes on and on. also, you might not see any weight loss for up to 2-6 months since your body is getting used to this change of diet/lifestyle. keep it up!
oh my god you're voice is adorable and you are drop dead gorgeous waaaat
Can you please do an updated everyday makeup tutorial?
Love your nailpolish!
Makeup tutorial for this look please? Its so lovely :))
Glad your mom is ok now! My mom sadly went through the same thing
welcome back :DD
Hi, just my two cents, but as a long time exerciser myself I don't think exercising only two days a week is enough. From what I understand, the general rule is that it takes a minimum of three days a week to maintain your current size, but at least four days a week to begin to see real differences. I found this to be true for me as well.
new place tour!
Another thing to watch out for is sweetened and flavored non dairy milks like vanilla almond milk! So read ingredient lists and nutrition labels meticulously!
I think she's referring to all juice in general, even the natural ones. Fruit in general is packed with sugar, albeit it is natural sugar, but even so, too much sugar can cause an increase in fat. When you think about it, fruits are most available to us in the summer and fall, before winter when we "need" more fat on our bodies. :) Sorry, I figured I'd answer since I'm a Nutritionist and trainer. Hope that helps!
You are so beautiful!! And you give GREAT advice. I've been trying really hard to eat cleaner (which is really hard when you're a teen, and your friends want to go out ALL the time). -__- I'm trying to get into a more consistent work-out routine as well.
It's good to see ur videos again...
Try using vegi's too. if you use majority spinach or something like that and then sweeten it with like a banana, and maybe some blueberries, you won't be having soooo much sugar from fruit and it still taste good & sweet and is even healthier for you (:
I know muscle weighs more than fat. That's why I asked if it was me building muscle mass.
I drink a lot of water and tea, although I really dislike unsweetened tea. lol But I usually use Stevia, honey, or agave nectar to sweeten it.
Thank you for the advice! (: I appreciate it.
This was very helpful thanks jacky!
Hi Jackie,
Can you share your workout routine? (E.g~ How often do you go to the gym? what kind of exercise u do? ,etc )
Btw, For no calorie drinks, I love chinese tea, herbal tea, and black coffee(I HATE hot black coffee but I find iced black coffee is fine) I quite diet soda, it contains so many chemicals and it is definitely bad for our body:/
Congrats on yr new job n new home :)
Also, the quality of your videos are great, does your camera have a wide screen option?
I don't think the lighting is bad, but it does make you look whiter.
room tour!!
Hey great video! Actually it has been found that the artificial sweeteners make the body think it is consuming sugar. Insulin levels rise and the body prepares for digestion of sugars and carbohydrates. Since no actual sugar is entering the body and since insulin levels have risen, artificial sweeteners can cause people to be more hungry so that they can consume food to balance out their insulin levels. This is one of the reasons why artificial sweeteners can cause more weight gain.
oh no i just make them as a substitute for dinner because i don't want to eat a meal at 8:30 or 9:00 ! i never substitute water for anything ! i drink more than 2oz's of water everyday easily ! thanks for the replay !!
share your workout playlist!
Appartment tour please!
I love your videos!!!
'...its better to not eat the extra calories than it is to burn them off'...I don't agree with this. The latest research proves that the benefits of exercise for weight/fat loss DOESN'T come from the burning of calories, it comes from the increase in metabolic rate that exercise brings, specifically STRENGTH TRAINING and HIIT (instead of long, slow cardio (detrimental than it is beneficial)...you'd have to mountain climb for 12 hours to burn a big mac, it clearly is NOT about calories in/out.
Hi, Jackie! Thanks for this video, it was very helpful.
Quick questions: I love your nail color! What brand is it? And what foundation/skin tone color were you wearing? It looks lovely :)
OMG thank you for posting links on your clothes! I get so frustrated when i see something cute and im like "bu.. wha.. where did she get that?!" lol thank you!
I have to break my plateau! It's slightly going away though. Great video :))
yay new camera!
thanks for the advice! :D really appreciate it
Do the draw my life tag !
Yay!
i know i'm not jackie, but i'm also trying to get my more fit and change my lifestyle. Are you eating smaller portions? Instead of eating three big meals a day, I eat five smaller portioned meals a day. My biggest key is just eating in smaller portions and drinking more water. I try to workout 6 times a week each time at least 30 minutes. When I'm not doing cardio (running), I strength train with my Insanity DVDs. And each month, I give myself one day where I can eat something on my "NO list."
If you're using a DSLR, i think it could be the result of the ISO setting. P.s. Jackie are you wearing lipstick/lipgloss? your lips has a nice color
It's probably your diet. Try eating things with a medium to low glycemic index.
No white bread, pasta or rice & ass much vegetables and proteins (lean meat preferably) Switch for brown instead, I know for me it made a huge difference. And try high intensity interval training to burn fat faster :)
Ohh I never said to cut off all carbs. We all need a little of everything. If you get hungry maybe your diet isn't balanced enough (try eating well for lunch and go lighter for dinner although I know must of us stuff our faces at night it is the worst!) If you're hungry you can make some toast (brown obs) with cream cheese avocado, salmon cucumber, eggs... Things rich in good fats and proteins that will help you not to starve for dinner. (and eat breakfast!)
I rarely have allergies in the summer. And I've never had allergies make me gain weight. o.O I also try to do mix up my workouts so my muscles don't get too used to them. Hmmm...
could also just be poor metabolism, which u can fix by eating smaller portions and a lil more of them throughout the day. Working out only twice a week isn't really working out, besides that, it also depends on the kind of working out you are doing. If you want to lose weight then do more aerobic/full body fat burning exercises with lite resistance. Stay away from juices, orange juice, apply juice & such, instead just eat an apple/orange, etc.Mizz Chu is pretty spot on tho, just dont give up =D
I never realized that my weight gain started when I got on birth control omg thank you
Can you show us some smoothies we can make that are healthier than the ones you buy? And tell us ways we can speed up our metabolism! Thanks!(:
Oh yeah, and I'd like to ask advice. I've been working out more since summer began, but I've actually gained weight. Is it just me building muscle mass or could it be something else?
Also, I'd love to see a video about how to keep bloating under control! I bloat A LOT, yet I hardly ever drink soda and I try to limit my salt intake. :/
I think that maybe working out twice a week isnt enough.try 5 times a week -2 days rest , if you can, try HIIT workouts too
is your room tour going to be your next video? please say yes
The birth control thing is soooo true. Now that you say it I totally see a corollation... Guess I'm talking to my dr.! Thanks Jackie!
coconut oil/fish oi/green teal helps with weight loss
You have to balance how much you eat. Eating too LITTLE is actually really bad too. My mum's a Dietitian, so I thought I'd answer your comment even though I'm not Jackie. But if you eat too little (small portions and what not), yor body will think that you're starving it (which you are), so whenever you eat just ANY form of calorie or protein or whatever, your body will preserve it, because it's starving, and it thinks it has to preserve to stay alive. Hope it helps :)
Love ur necklace
You look gorgeous!
thanks for the advice :D xx
shes a doll
ALSO! if you restrict your caloric intake too dramatically, your body will go into starvation mode. Then when you eat more (or eat "normal"), your body will cling onto them and store energy as fat. You should figure out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR calculators online), aim to lose max 2lbs per week (3500 cal =1lb. so cut out 500-1000 calories per day/week= 1-2lb loss). Be positive and healthy doesn't mean boring! You can do it :D
Great video!! :)
Do you dye your hair??? Love the black :) And yay for So cal! I'm from Walnut
I love how knowledgeable you always are with this stuff :D finally, a guru who does her research and doesn't just repeat random trending stuff they read about on the internet about dieting/fitness/etc!! Great advice.
tour!!!!! pls
What if you make your own juice or smoothies? Would that be a better alternative than buying the bottled ones or Jamba juice?
your smart!
You are beautiful :O
P.S. those who are finding it hard losing weight, might want to consider the following:
- Go gluten free or partially - its hard I know
- Cut dairy out - only yogurt / cottage cheese / quark / or try A2 milk
- Eat legumes - lentils are awesome
- Eat resistant starch foods - bananas are good
- Lower your carbs but up the fats and protein
- Improve your social life and get out more
- Reduce stress and sleep more
- Smile more
- Finally, patience, don't make drastic changes.
As usual great advice I love these videos on these topics I think they are the best vids that you do. Ohh and as usual you look beautiful. :D Just curious how old are you.?
so your room tour is in a coming separate video right? =]
Ohh you also forgot to mention that the same size muscle weighs more than fat. A lot of people will work out, lift weights, and see a very small decrease on the scale. That's because you're shedding fat and developing muscle! (This is purely speaking in terms of weight, not necessarily waist measurements etc).
lol jackie i love your thumbnail pic!
Try working out more frequently and cutting down on meat. You should actually be eating way more fruits and veggies than you do meats or grains. I've found that I've started losing weight since I started drinking enough water. I go through 4 large bottles a day now. Also, you may consider drinking milk or eating cheese less frequently if you do consume dairy. Don't eat packaged foods so much, and instead, cook raw foods without adding too much salt.
Jackie, great vid. But it's really distracting when you're always looking at the viewfinder instead of at the lens.
Jackie, when you are refering to juice, you are refering to the added sugar ones and the all natural ones or just the added sugar ones ?
haha that's funny im a New York girl..one day Cali lol
It been already like 7 months since I started this losing weight thing, I've seen SOME results, as in the pants I used to wear, are a bit looser now, but thats pretty much it. I think i've converted the fat into muscle, which I didn't really want. I just wanted to burn EVERYTHING and lose a couple kilos :( and since im still in my last year of high school, its really hard to find time to workout, since I have tons and tons of assessments.
makeup tutorial on this look?
Hi hi... Am a guy and have subscribed and regular watch your vids . Gives me a good insight into the female perspective . I think you are pretty and its good that you give tips about health . I am not into the make up stuff but I think you are a good role model.for other Asian girls out there . And before some hater comes across and accuses me of not being a man . I am and am not gay or overtly feminine
hey is it oky to make fruite smoothies at home? i only put fresh fruite ! no milk no sugar no honey just a fresh orange to make it a little liquidy and drink it when i come back late from work. is it bad ?
I used to weight 140 so I changed my diet, more veggies and fruits and went to the gym but I didn't start losing weight until I stopped eating bread, rice and sugars (eliminate all white and fast food) I lost weight sooo fast!! I went down to 122 and I had to stop going to the gym because I was getting too skinny. :p but I felt awesome!
hey jackie
im total chinese, and rice is essential..but at the same time i live in europe ..bread is also a part of my life...i was wondering .. how much carbohydrate should i take per day..?? thanks
I LOVE her voice! ermehgerd..
love you
Can you do a makeup tutorial.
Hello again great vid
None of this applies to me! :( except maybe the birth control? I'm on the depo shot but I've been on it for like 3 years and last year I was able to lose 13 pounds and this year I haven't been able to lose any! I'm going to the gym everyday, eating healthy and only drinking water & tea!
Could be muscle gain causing your weight increase, muscle weighs more than fat does, you would have to monitor it for a couple of months to know for sure, just keep in mind muscle will help you burn fat. For bloating, I know women have it worse then guys so you would have try drinking only water and unsweetened tea for awhile to see if that helps along with keeping your salt intake low..hope that helps a lil..just dont give up =D
Hi Jackie I was wondering if you ever lift weights I've heard it doesn't make women bulky but someone told me the same thing about swimming and when I swam I got bigger? Thanks!~
