    Put a swivel between your main line and leader line, takes care of you line twist. Got the tip from Randy Blauket and it works really well. Don’t have any issue using fluorocarbon or braid now. Works for me. I will try this ripping technique next time I throw a fluke type bait.

    Nice! I’ve been fishing a caffeine shad for about 20 years and they’ve literally stood the test of time. A “siren “ or I also like green pumpkin and ?pro blue? Smoke blue? Idk some kind pearl blue glimmer and in post spawn something about the fall- then ripping it- then the fall again gets destroyed by my river smallies (3-4-5lb bass) . And on the lakes like the great Sacandaga lake in upstate NY- it’s the absolute JUICE. I like to add a barrel swivel about 15 up the line to give it a pivot point- and some added weight. It won’t blow out when you add the barrel swivel leader! Good stuff Ty

    I thought I was using this bait wrong 😅😅😅. Basically that is the only way I use the fluke (because of feeling). It really triggers lethargic fish. I use 1/8 oz weedless hook, that keeps the bait underneath the water and it slow sinks when stopped giving a very natural presentation. I have caught Largemouth bass, peacock bass, snook and tarpon using the same very technique. It really works!!!

    Saw that BIG catch on Bassmaster this past weekend. Was waiting for someone to do this video. Nice! Seth Feider is one of my favorites...Dude is a grass fishing BEAST! And as an Upstate Ny'r I like watching Northern Anglers...

    Awesome advice!!! Learned this technique from a complete stranger a couple years ago. He was hammering nice bass and I was catching 12-16 inchers while he was catching 5-6 pounders

    Hey Tyler, you are so right! One technique doesn’t work, sometimes this one does. Very similar to that is reeling a fluke as fast as you can like three turns, and then killing it. Good stuff!

    My first thought is you get so much slack in your line you could lose a lot of fish. Love this channel my man. Lots of good info

    That's how Gary Dobyns used to fish a jerkbait 20-25 years ago. He would just rip it and pause. Rip and pause. It is a old and forgotten technique

      I've always done it but i do it with crankbaits and jigs too. It seems to work best when it's 98⁰ out and the bite is slow. Funnily enough i figured out the technique when it was like 100 outside, i was a young man and the heat got me, not catching anything i started reeling and yanking really super fast basically out anger. Immediately slammed a huge bass and it just stuck as a technique Lol

    Will have to give this a try. Weighted/unweighted and type of hook? Would seem a screw lock type would hold the bait in place over multiple casts and permit either a buried, exposed, or Texsposed presentation. Also, a swivel between the braid and leader would alleviate the line twist.

  • @walteringramii4313
    @walteringramii4313 Před měsícem

    Randy Blaukat rigs a fluke with the hook facing down, that creates a hump in the back of the fluke. He says it keeps the fluke from coming to the top. Perhaps a good combination with what Tyler is suggesting.

    Great video and love X Zone lures! My go to up here in Ontario Canada which is where X Zone lures originated BTW. Also can you make that sound again of what the lures do when you rip them?! Hahaha. Motor mouth!! Love it man!

    I use a small swivel about a foot in front of the hook to prevent line twist.

    see, if the bass are busting bait on top- i make it leap outta the water on on purpose working it really really fast& aggressively. short, fast, aggressive twitches when theyre bustin shad+ they nail it hard!

  • @S2pidMedia
    @S2pidMedia Před měsícem

    Not just big bass. Big pike, too. It doesn't even have to be a fluke. It works with almost any plastic or hard bait that you can fish hard and fast. The cadence is what's gonna sell it, especially when fish don't really wanna move too much. But if you make it dance right for em, they'll come hit it

    For anyone wondering how far that bait is traveling, it is 14.5 feet when you jerk at a 90 degree angle, assuming the average arm length is 25 inches and you are using a 7’2” rod.

  • @collector_effectors

    Use a keel weighted hook or wrap your hook in lead and it won't blow out or twist your line as bad.

    Did I miss it? How do you hook the fluke? I'm a beginner so a little unsure. Also, to avoid the potential of the bait spinning & twisting the line, is a swivel an option?

    • @hunterbohman7555
      @hunterbohman7555 Před měsícem +1

      Most people will rig this weightless, Texas rigged with an ewg of your choice for the rod you are using. MedHeavy rod for me with a 3-5O EWG. Cast out and let sink for a few secs and try the fast sweep motion Tyler is talking about. Another cadence would be to do fast twitches like a jerk bait
