256GB should be entry level for any iPad storage especially apps size nowadays are fairly big.
If 80% of the buyers choose 64GB, at least we can make our ‘voice’ heard to push them to set at least 128GB as the baseline.
For me personally, 64GB for either iPhone or iPad simply cannot make it.
As a reference, Diablo Immortal on iPad occupy 11GB of storage. Office365 occupy 2.5GB. Video entertainment (Netflix, Disney+, CZcams, HBO) takes up 1.5GB of storage. GoodNotes takes another 1.5GB of storage. Other apps, photos, documents, 4K video eat up storage even more.
At the very least, 256GB is on safe bet although I still enjoy my 1TB iPad 🤭
But hey, consumer will be happy even if Apple just put that 100W fast charging power adapter and USB C cable in the iPad box where it belongs. 😆

I definitely don’t regret buying the Mini 6. It is such a great option from what you describe and that taking notes in meetings. I bought the 64 gig and don’t regret it one bit. It forces me to be minimalistic on what I load onto the mini. The only time I run out of space is when I upgraded to IOS 17 beta. I had to offload some apps for more storage. I don’t see me upgrading to the Mini 7 just for more storage. Great vid, looking forward to the new announcements and future videos.

I’m facing a dilemma right now: I founded an iPad mini with 256GB for only 470$ new but everyone tells me to wait till the next one comes out. Buy or wait? I’m only getting the 7th gen if it comes with A17 PRO, with A16 it’s not worth upgrading.

Every time you have a video about the Mini 6 I have to jump in and gush about how much I like mine. I moved up from the Mini 5 when the Mini 6 released, and I still use it daily, and it's a great companion to my M1 MBP 14.

I like my iPad mini 5. I like the Home Screen button. And it doesn’t have the camera bump. It’s sleek.
The iPad mini was my first ever iPad. I loved my mini. Tbh I even miss the old design, but the new mini 6 is just awesome to have again. I love using my iPads for school/productivity

Been exclusively using iPad Pros since 2015 but decided to downgrade from my cellular 11 inch Pro to the cellular Mini recently mostly because it became such a chore to lug around a huge iPad when travelling. It’s been amazing! Touch ID took a while to get used to but so far it’s been a blast. I haven’t missed ProMotion at all since it’s not that noticeable on a smaller screen. I take this thing everywhere. It absolutely feels liberating to just grab an iPad and go without ever thinking about the bag you’re going to use since it’s so tiny that it can fit just about any EDC bag ❤

I switched from my 12.9” pro to the 11” pro, because the 12.9” felt way too big. Now I feel the same about the 11” pro, i like the pro features, they’re cool, but not a life-altering necessity like it is to others. If they give the mini 7 a better screen and more storage i’ll be switching in a heartbeat

A spec bump won’t be enough for me to move from my Mini 6. Features that would make me move would be the camera system of the iPad Pros, WiFi 7 or a landscape camera. 😊
The only reason that could make me upgrade from 6 to 7 is the ability to use the iPad full screen connected to a monitor as bigger iPads with M1-M2, if not I'm not interested in other features. I use the mini as note taking and media consumption device so I don't need more.
I got my iPad mini 6 in hopes of switching from my standard iPad I’d been using for almost 2 years. Returned it 2 days later. Screen resolution, brightness, battery, speakers, UI size optimization and text size were all better on my 2 year old, cheaper iPad, and it didn’t have the extra issues like display distortion and jelly scrolling.
I couldn’t believe how blatantly obvious it was how much of a test product this was, testing the waters to see if people were still interested in the form factor so they could make a version that actually reflects how much it costs.
I LOVE iPad minis, but unless those issues are solved and we get an actual quality product, I’ll keep using my m1 iPad pro for, everything, really.
iPad mini 6 periodically goes on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for 399$ for the 64GB WiFi version. This seems like a stellar buy and probably worth jumping on if you need one.
Good deal indeed, but probably worth considering if 64GB will be enough for potential buyers.
Still on the fence over purchasing the mini, but now having watched this, I definitely think I’ll wait and see what the 7 has to offer. Cheers Patrick

I have an iPad Mini 5 and just bought the iPad 9th Gen. due to the price I paid ( $249 ) I love watching TV/Movies on the 9, but find myself reaching for the Mini more. It’s so much lighter & smaller to travel with as well. I’ll wait until the Mini 7 comes out, THEN get a great price on the Mini 6, maybe I can get the Mini 6 ( 256 ) for the same price as the Mini 7 ( 64 ) 😎👍

I will definitely buy the 7 if it supports stage manager with external screen like the M1/M2 based ones, and unlike A12/A12Z based iPads that only support Stage Manager in mirror mode.

Would be perfect as a mini laptop + tablet use case, with desktop mode when you find a monitor to connect to. Perfect for the holidays or on the go with iPadOS gaining in maturity lately as close to a computer OS.

@@PatrickRambles yes, might be quite short indeed but for having a GPD pocket, I kinda like the use case for travels, still better than touch screen, especially to keep the screen real estate while using it, which is more limited on the mini. Don't know if I would pay $200 or more for that though.
I just want an updated iPad mini with more storage space and a better display - ProMotion 120Hz is such an amazing feature with the 11" iPad Pro. My iPad Mini 6 with Apple Pencil 2 is my favorite Apple device that I can always carry everywhere I go and with 5G LTE, it's a wonderful side companion to my old iPhone.
Love my mini 5… looking forward to checking out the 7. Just hope it’s this year.

Oh wow! I didn’t expect that coming. I’ve been loving my Mini 6 for all the good reasons you’ve mentioned in all your videos about it. (I watched all of them btw ☺️)
Here is my deal to my self, if the mini 7 is worth upgrading, I will pay for it. I will give my beloved mini 6 to my Dad. He will love it for sure. 256GB minimum is still the ideal storage for every IPads in my opinion atleast for a heavy user like me who use it in school, journaling, storing my files etc.
I have been using 64 GB memory on phones and ipad since 2015, never ran out of space. I use cloud to store my pics and videos and that does the trick.
Never understood why someone will have too much storage on their portable devices instead of the laptop.
Me neither. I’m not a gamer or a video editor, but I have tons of apps, and download a lot of CZcams vids and Tidal content for travel. I’m using like 24G. 🤔

Your love for the iPad mini has really made me think about getting one. I had the iPad Pro 12.9” and I loved it. It was my main computer but I had to upgrade to the Mac book pro and got rid of my iPad. I’m seriously considering the mini. Thanks for the vid.
I use my iPad mini for so many things…SO MANY THINGS. I bought it on launch day. But I’ve only used 39.5 of my 256 GB. If I offload some podcasts I could clear up even more storage. This thing is clutch. I’ll wait until the new one comes out and give this one to my wife. She sees me using mine so much, she wants one now, too!
I hated my iPad Pro after a while. Gets heavy and looks monstrous. So happy with my switch to mini ❤ I think it’d be awesome if they brought MagSafe to the mini

iPad mini is perfect travel companion. I use it for GPS, video and photo editor, media consumption, and documents. I travel super light, and this is the best.
I would say wait. I think even if they only add pro motion i think it’s better. I still would like smaller bezels. If the 11 gets mini LED I’m upgrading to that from my 2018 11 iPad Pro
I have a 12.9 pro, but I think I really think that I need a mini along side of it. I love the size of the 12.9 for professional artwork, but sometimes I just want a little sketch pad around the house, or to take with me to the restaurant, mini actually sounds perfect for that.
It’s the best iPad, perfect travel and content consumption companion.
I will upgrade to the 7 if it only has significant upgrades like an oled screen or “pro” version. If not I’ll stick with the 6 it’s still a beast.

I have owned All the new Mini's and never looked back, I broke out my Mini 6th at work the guys where shocked by the screen they thought it was a Phone, I told them no it's a apple Ipad mini. Everything except the Phone bill. I don't buy the cellular sim card mini's. I have given many away as gifts to my sweetheart, brother, grand kids. I always buy the new mini until the next one comes out . I'm totally addicted. And have been for many years.Thanks for the great video. The ZUGU case is a awesome case. I love the Otterbox but $$$$. I have bought the Mini's from Apple. Except the last one, the 6th I got it from amazon refurbished, It's been perfect. I can't wait for the 7th.
Love my iPad Mini 6, got it for a great price during Prime Day, *but* I really wish I had paid the extra to get more than 64 GB storage. iPad OS and system data take up about 15 GB (at least for me), so I actually started out with about 50 GB available. I’ll probably upgrade to the 7 just to get more storage. Hopefully, trade-in value for the one I have will be enough to make it workable.
Meanwhile, I’m using this little guy every day and I love it for all the reasons you gave. I find myself reaching for it when I would otherwise use my phone, and the added screen space really makes a difference. 120 Hz would be nice, but I don’t really see any “jelly roll” issues with the 60 Hz. I do agree about using it outside: not very good for reading if you’re in bright sunlight.
Any recommendations on a really solid stand? I see you’ve got some listed, but the reviews are mixed on all of them.
The pitaka stand and charging case combo is my favorite, but it's quite expensive.
I think you sold me with that point about meetings, and recording and playback!

Another iPad Mini 6 fan - my 1st Mini (and with 256GB). Love it for travelling, love it for reading etc. I *do* need to get a better case for it though. Have a case that folds around the pencil, leaving both ends exposed ND when case is flipped open, pencil is easily knocked flying ... 😮 Not sure yet why I'd upgrade to Mini 7 - no clear use case for me at this time... (Watch me talk myself into it though... 😅)
I didn't think I would be that bothered by the jelly scroll, but since I read webtoons on the mini or use it when browsing pinterest for reference photos for art stuff, it's pretty obvious to me.
I would also be willing to pay for better speakers. it just bothers me that my phone sounds better than the mini... esp if people mainly use it for play/media consumption
I have the iPad mini 6. There are pros and cons. 256Gb and Cellular. Bought it new to replace the 5 for use on car trips. It's a great GPS replacement. Better than the phone (size) for emails and CZcams. The 'jelly scrolling' has never been an issue for me. I can actually take a phone call with it while driving. However... IMHO, It would be a LOT better if it was more landscape oriented. Taking a screen shot requires me to reach over the top to touch both the start button and a volume button, both on the left side. Both hands, Very awkward. You need to perform FOUR functions to turn it off. Quickly. And in a certain order! (Up volume, volume down, push/hold the start button, then slide the power off slider. The 5 was two; way simpler.) For all the talk about the speakers, my phone is still louder. The A15 chip is quick enough, but could be a LOT better with, say, the M2. And there is that foto info popping up unasked, with no shutting it off. The Apple 'seers' (guessers) show no solutions for any of these problems. All in all, I'll prolly not upgrade to a 7.
Hey there , I agree on a lot of your points. But we shouldn’t forget that it’s a few years old now and the tech is not super up to date anymore. I’d love a kind upgraded of “mini pro”. I’m with you on the landscape thing too , should be focused on that , whilst switching to portrait properly as well for reading and stuff.
I have a 2015 12.9 iPad Pro but routinely leave it behind when traveling due to weight. I agree about the paper weight comment.

Sadly we got such a huge price bump on these older Apple products last year, mainly because forex (local currency badly weakened against USD). The Mini 6 is now at the same price point as the Air 4 I got back in 2020 which really sucks. So while I want a new Mini (the Mini 5 was my first iPad after all) sadly the price just isn’t ideal.

Hope it is better than my Mini 6. Mine overheats and shuts down in hot and humid weather. It has a poor display, the keyboard is too large in landscape format, and many apps are not optimized for it. Just try to use the CZcams slider to fast forward. Other than the performance and form factor, it hasn't been a good experience for me.

Oh man, I love my iPad mini 6, it's beautiful. I bought a Galaxy Z Fold 5, but I didn't want to get rid of my mini and I'm glad I didn't. I've always wanted an iPad and nothing better than the mini 6, the battery is great, and iOS is very smooth.
I got the fold 5 as well. Gonna do a video about whether it van replace my iPad Mini ;)

I 100% agree that the weight of the iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard makes no sense ! Not to mention the similar price to a MacBook Air.
No brainer. Wait for iPad Mini 7 and then buy iPad Mini 6. Surely, price cuts of the iPad mini 6 would be considerable than buying it now.
I could do with an iPad Mini SE. It would have Ipad mini 5 specs and design, apart from an updated chipset. Price 350€. When it comes to tablets those chunkier bezels make it easier to get a good grip and be used as an e-reader. Therefore they serve a purpose for some users at least. They serve no purpose on phones though.

Idk the ipads are in a weird place for whats supported.
The 6th gen & 7th gen ipad are using A10 Chips, 8th gen A12 (came out in 2020) A13 ipad 9 A14 Ipad 10.
The air 4 A14 & the mini 6 A15 all other entries of other models have an M for pros an air now.
I do find that using the A15 chipset in the mini 6 makes it have more support as the chip was used in the 14 & 14plus.
So I really think a new mini wont be out for awhile.
I hope they fix the screen issue with the mini 7. I have returned two mini 6's due to headaches and eye strain I experienced while using them. Tried it twice as i really wanted it to be my go-to device due to its size.Even with the reduced motion turned off, I had problems. I battle with motion sickness and the mini 6 seems to affect it. I had to go back to using my Mini 5 and IPad Pro as they do not affect the motion sickness.
It's a very subjective phenomenon. Some notice nothing and other can't stand it. Hopefully they give us promotion which should fix that.
@PatrickRambles I agree hopefully Promotion will fix it, its the first device that I have had such noticeable problems with. I suffer from a self diagnosed "CUD" issue ( compulsive upgrade disorder) 🤣 so I use more devices than the average user and I am also not locked into a specific ecosystem either.
I just got the 6 (in part because of your recommendation!). I got the 256 and I got it refurbished. So I hope if there is a new one it's not TOO good. LOL.
The only way, I’d upgrade from iPad mini 6 to iPad mini 7, is if Apple
was to add Face ID to the Mini 7. I love the convenience of Face ID, rather than having to touch it, every time I
want to open the Home Screen.

Honestly, I had iPhone SE 2016, 7, 12, 12 Pro, 13 Pro and now I have 14 Pro 128GB. I also have iPad Mini 6 64GB. I use 55 gigs of my iPhone storage, having over 100 apps and I would easily go under 40, but COD Mobile uses 7 gigs, YT downloads another 6, Spotify downloads 3 and GTA SA also takes 3GB of my memory. On my mini I use less than 40GB, and I have over 12.000 photos and 200GB iCloud. I really never understood how people use like 700GB of storage. If I really tried I would probably fit within 32GB of storage, but I would have to limit myself a little and I don’t limit myself at all now, having used this little of memory
Two weeks ago I scored a flash sale from Amazon that took 50% off the retail price of the cellular model and I've never seen such a discount before anywhere for the iPad Mini 6 so I have no regrets at all as I'd never pay over 800 euros for the cellular model and that's how much the Mini 7 would be. So getting the cellular model for even significantly less than the WiFi only model means I have no regrets at all not waiting. I have no interest in another iPad mini until the LCD retina display is replaced with ye inky Blacks of mini-led or OLED and the Mini 7 won't have that upgrade so there's little point in waiting for the 7 as it'll be a very minor upgrade. When you own a large OLED TV, the mini-led of the Macbook Pro 16 inch, and have OLED iPhones, watching movies on the LCD screen of an iPad us a major headache. Itself talk about the 60hz display but the LCD panel itself, with its poor black levels, is far more frustrating.
The A15 is still very fast so a new chip upgrade doesn't seem that exciting

The size of the mini fits the nature of the operating system to a tee.
I bought a mini today, so I hope I won't regret it. But when the seventh version comes out, but otherwise compared to the iPad pro 11, the size and weight is absolutely great
That's it, since and weight make me want to use it all the time. It's such a low threshold device.
Nice content as always Patrick, I love my mini it’s so handy and not heavy . I still have my I pad pro 12.9 / 2018 I will change it this year for a refurbished one from apple . But as you said the mini 6 is so handy 😎👏🇮🇪

I also find 64 is plenty for me. I don’t need to increase the price for space I won’t use.

You came right on time with this one. I have an iPad mini 5th gen thing is my battery dies out super fast and the screen is not as colorful as the original (replaced screen about a year ago) I was gone replace those items but it’ll be better to invest in a new upgrade vs paying $200 plus on reinstalling old parts
