I like inspecting and cleaning mine....unless they have an "R" in the part number. Then I change them after a few oil changes. The resistors are just junk and not worth it even though they cost 2-6 times as much

Oh man, my Corvette would sometimes take a while to start. Sometimes I had to try it 3 times for 2 seconds each to get it to start in the morning. The idle was rough but sometimes was ok. Changed the spark plugs and HUGE difference. Car starts and the idle is so smooth!

I have a 2016 Chevy equinox and when I start it it sounds like a helicopter really loud and when its been on for a couple seconds it kind of calms down and idles normal. Nothing out of the normal when operating and the check engine light is not on. Any thoughts what it could be? I did notice one coil boot is abnormal like someone stretched it out and looks like someone stuck a large object in the boot and is kind of weird looking. Can that be the cause that simple abnormal out of the ordinary boot?

YES, crank rotation depends on every cylinder the engine has to work properly, think of it as a windmill with a chunk of one of the pedals missing or a helicopter missing a blade

Hey Joe, i have these five symptoms lol, and I was wondering other than doing a full tune up which I am not knowledgeably or experience-wise capable of, is there anything else to check that might cause some of these symptoms as well, save some money and maybe narrow it down. When you mentioned a harder start, this is the first time for me. I have a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe Awd 3.3l has always been a joy starting it when I got it to now, just sounds cool and smooth. Hesitation in rpm idle I have experienced before and now. The hard start is a first and I am at 303,000. Hyundai did a tune up 4 years back and everything was peppy and responsive. Winter is here and a hard start once in a while is and has never been normal for this ride. So, your symptoms nailed everything, first time rough start, sorry for the repetition. Hyundai wants 600 bucks for a tune-up, I would like to save where I can if possible till I can do it myself one day but if not, what will be will be.
303k... good luck. On the cheap side, two things for any car and see if anything peps up: change the fuel filter and put a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner [I've had good luck with it] in the tank at next fillup. Tune ups these days are at best cleaning the injectors and maybe the MAF sensor. Your vehicle should be on its 3rd or 4th set of spark plugs. There really isn't anything to tune compared to 40 years ago - computer programs don't drift like points or timing used to do [from chain stretch]. Chris Fix and Scotty Kilmer both have vids on cleaning MAF sensor if you want to do that - use only a cleaner specified for that.
I got a modded civic si full bolt on. Cold air intake with headers and full exhaust. Ive notice it takes sometimes when its cold an extra second to start. Also while idling i notice it running rough like sometimes the rpm drop below 500 then kicks up to close to 1k sometimes. But most noticeable it seems the rpm just jumps from 700 to 1k randomly its not a smooth idle. Ive noticed it running rich but also bad fuel economy, any idea?

My 2013 Toyota Camry idles pretty high during the hot days and cold days. However once it’s put in gear it settles down and the engine noise is drastically lowered. Car has 156000 miles, I’ve had it 2 years and I’m not the original owner. Although I have most of the records for it on Toyotas website. Could this be a spark plug issue?

Denso or ngk are fine for Toyota,Nissan,and Honda most jap cars use Denso or ngk Denso was the first to make iridium spark plugs and they also make the iridium TT spark plugs The TT (twin tips) are the best compaired to single tip ones I'll choose Denso anyday over ngk Ngk just have the name because there's alot of little kids that own JDM and keep it stock but Denso have been around longer and made more improvements over the years Ngk stole the twin tip design and the iridium from Denso do some research

@@YNGM1991 It was a battery issue. There was something draining, checked each fuse until I found it, it was CD changer in the trunk that was faulty. Also went through 3 batteries in a few months.

Autolite spark plugs went to s*** over 10 years ago I used to use them on a regular basis and I like them until I started having problems with spark plugs right out of the box
They are just cheap automotive spark plugs you can buy at any standard store nothing special go for some ngk or Denso will last way longer and won't be fake iridium copy cats
Denso for any JDM car 😂 Nissan,Toyota,Honda etc Everyone knows that Denso are the the best Denso came out with iridium before anyone else even ngk and they make twin tip iridium spark plugs My v35 loves Denso runs better on Denso then ngk

sounds like a bad coil pack possibly. at least that was the situation on my friends 2014 f150 ecoboost

On cold day it idle pretty high when it starts but warm day no.
Clean the throttle body. I just fixed the same issue in my car doing a throttle body cleaning and idling relearned

For honda stick with ngk.
Toyota Denso but perhaps NKG for Honda. See what OE was then stick to that.

Use OEM spark plugs original equipment whatever comes with the vehicle don't use a different brand or type of plug that would be a mistake
