Anyone who asks you to unload a container, should consider asking them to put a mortein pesticide bomb in it a few days before so you're not taking pests that can start an infestation back at your shed. Should quarantine this haul before it goes near your other stock.

Tom and your son are absolute gems for helping out! My only critique is that you handled books and boxes that had mold and animal poop and at times you would touch your face with the dirty gloves 😭
I know. It’s kind of habit and you don’t realise these things until after when you watch it back. I promise I had a big shower at the end of it.

Get some cedar chips and put them in with the books for a while. That will cut out some of the smell. It works on books from a smoker's house. Huge haul! Wish it was in better condition for your sake.

Hard to see, but the little metal tin may contain a rifle shotgun cleaning kit. I think the brass metal tube is the oil bottle for a .303 rifle. May be worth listing.
Bravo! It is a military rifle cleaning kit and an old (1954) multi tool with can opener etc.

OMG Just watching this made me not want to touch my face! I can't believe you kept going. I'd be so worried about contaminating your warehouse. I'd recommend dropping everything else to get that haul sorted and cleaned and get the rubbish hauled off ASAP.

10x update: after only having 1-3 sales the first couple days, I've been pleasantly surprised by having 6-9 sales the last couple days! I haven't exactly followed the 10x rules, but I have listed about 100 items this week and only have another 30 or so in my death pile! I may just clear my death pile before vacation next week after all! Plus the sales boost is huge since I won't be working for a month!

Tom, and your handsome son, did a great job! Wear gloves while going through these boxes. Do you have a place to wash your hands? Can't wait to hear and see more about these! Something in this haul should make it all worth it! From the moment I saw your warehouse, I commented on it being too small. Always get a space that's larger than you think you'll need. You attract book hauls. Undeniably true, so you don't want to be turning down 5,000 books due to lack of space. I'm also concerned about the lack of heat/air conditioning. Again, Tom is your information source.
Yes there is a bathroom at the warehouse and I have sanitiser. I’ll clean and check all books thoroughly before making sure they are ok to sell on.
I have opportunities with Thom to increase space if needed. We will see how we go for a while. :)

Hi Mel, those books in another language are mostly Arabic books. Don't throw away those that you kept because you can't identify them - they are expensive books and some are hard to find even in Muslim countries. Some of them are volume sets of religious books which are rare to find in western countries in the Arabic language and were probably shipped in by students or teachers because they aren't available to buy in Australia. I saw copies of the Quran in Arabic and books of hadith, which are books about Islam with stories about the life of prophet Muhammad. If there's a mosque, Islamic school or bookshop near you, you could contact them and they would probably be interested in buying them, or at least they would be able to identify them for you and tell you whether they're worth your time trying to sell them.
It was a lot of work just sorting the books worth keeping. Hope you had a long soak in the bath after so much lifting that day. It should keep you busy for a while as you work your way through listing them all. Wishing you much success with this huge haul. A round of applause too for your son and Tom for their much needed help.
Yes there is a lot of Islamic books many in Islamic language. It will be a hard haul for me as I’m not familiar with these types of books. Great tips and ideas and I’ll look into those!

I would hate to think you have brought back roach eggs, spider eggs, book mites, and mold or fungus to contaminate your new location😢 I am not a book reseller but when I do buy used books I put them in my freezer for a minimum of 3 days and then wipe them down with an antibacterial wipe.
I hope all the trouble you went through works out for the good!!

Sorry, I hadn't finished! Roach eggs can live inside cardboard so don't take the cartons into warehouse. A really great video, glad there is no smellavision, bet that container stank! Great to have son and Tom helping - you are a great team Mel!

Totally feeling the overwhelming struggle. I have dealt with two of these containers but they where filled top to bottom. It was easier to just load it all in the truck and sort it out away from site.

Some of those photos might even belong to a museum as they probably no longer in the same condition or standing. Def a lot of history. Some would find this fun and definitely entertaining. Why does everything have to be easy to be enjoyable. Felt like Tom had a better time than Mel who was complaining half the time, no offense.
I like to sell easy bread and butter items as I’m so time poor lol. Thom likes to find all the more niche market books so this was a dream haul for him.
