- The Apple Watch Series 8 is an iterative update, and most of its changes are invisible to the naked eye. It adds new temperature sensors and crash detection, and makes the most sense for most people. But if your current Apple Watch isn’t broken - don’t shell out for that upgrade.

Do you use your Apple watch to track sleep?
It's a personal opinion but I really don't see myself wearing my apple watch when I'm sleeping. For me, it's not that comfortable. But then again, it's a personal opinion. But other than that, the apple watch is still pretty dope.

Ouch. It’s definitely growing on me. The home page is the most controversial but the new types of short form posts add something that was missing. I had similar feelings about the neon look but grew to really love that.

Amazing review, I loved the little RC car segment. The tone of this review is classic Verve, and I prefer reviews that finish on a more definitive and educated opinion.
I'll be sticking with Series 6, it ain't broke yet.
This is a great review. Lots of detail and context but still somehow snappy. Love it.
The biggest upgrade I felt from my 5 to 8 is the fast charging honestly. I don’t worry about low battery as much now that it charges fully within an hour
I was considering getting the SE2 as my first Apple Watch, but decided to get the non-cellular Nike Series 7 instead. Reasons included always on, dust resistance, non-plastic back and fast charging. I think I made the right decision, even though it was more expensive. (For me, Series 8 just wasn’t in the equation.)
In terms of the sleep tracking “not being as good” as Fitbit’s. But I saw a guy on here test over 30 watches and a sleep tracking device and apple watches sleep tracking was the most accurate by a huge leap. Highly recommend watching it, it’s very informative. Called something like “Apple watch scientific sleep test” by the quantified scientist
Watch makers really don't want you to tie multiple watches on your wrist while testing because it might affect the result it going to show you and also the placement of the watch while wearing multiple watches to test also affects the result. The guy you mentioned testing multiple watches at a time or testing 30 watches individually?
@@masood774 yea he tested them all individually. its a very informative video and he compares the other watches pretty well through the data. and he displays it pretty clearly. great video to watch
@@masood774 That guy compares to actual laboratory sleep tracking equipment. He is as scientific as you can get, not these touchy feely reviewers.

Durability of the display for rock climbing and mountaineering is my main concern with the Apple Watch so it would be super helpful to know if the Ultra is a meaningful upgrade in this regard or if you still need a screen protector to be safe. Otherwise the Ultra seems more like a first Gen device to me for the target demographic and certainly isn't competitive with Garmin just yet.

You're fine. Get a screen cover. But I wouldn't bother with the Ultra. I had it for 2 days and returned it and got the Series 8. (Was coming from a Series 6 44mm.) I do NOT regret it.
@@TrapTech I've got the Series 5 and what I didn't realised before a couple of weeks ago is that the Ion-X glas really is much more prone to scratching compared to the sapphire crystal in the stainless steel versions. So maybe I gotta go for the steel version in the future until they do some exclusive features for the Ultra that make the upgrade worth it.

great review video. i upgraded from series 6 to 8 in order to upgrade to a cellular aw. never had cellular aw and thought the crash detection seals the deal got going on trips without a phone

I’m coming from the series 3. Picked up my series 8 today. Yep! Definitely an upgrade. 😉
I tried going a whole day with Low Power Mode on my Series 5. Took out the charger at 9AM and had to put it back when it reached 17% at around 9PM the following day.
Def upgrading this time - can't wait!
Totally loving my upgrade to the Apple Watch Series 8! The new health features are amazing - being able to track skin temperature is a game changer for me, and the crash detection gives me peace of mind. Plus, the always-on display is super convenient for quick glances at the time or notifications. The only issue? The glossy screen can be a fingerprint magnet! Thinking about getting a GadgetShieldz screen protector with a matte finish. Heard they not only protect from scratches but hide fingerprints too, keeping my watch looking sleek and smudge-free.
Love these video reviews. Now can they go and fix the Verge’s website? It’s so messy, it’s like a geocities website. I can only interact with The Verge on CZcams now 😂
I’m going to go for the ultra, the other watches don’t have enough changes to make it worth buying for me. I do swim often so I could use those swim feature on the ultra

@@bigfudge3223 . Let people spend their money as they like. This person was able to swim without an Apple Watch Ultra and has realised this was not possible anymore, great for Apple. They love that kind of clients.

TBH all the S8 chip is it’s just a repackaged S6 chip. that’s why there’s no boost in performance.

im very happy with my series 3. its 5 years old and works like a charm..... hopefully ill use it as long as humanly possible.

I’m on series 4, and still haven’t found a reason to upgrade, if anything I’m only going to spare ~$300 for a newer battery…
Because, to recap, all series 8 has is:
-Compass and it’s features
-Blood oxygen sensor (which isn’t really reliable)
-Larger screen (by 1”, since I’m having a 44”)
-2 Temperature sensors
-larger battery (I would’ve been sold on this, but it’s still not big enough and is quoted on the same level as series 4, with the exception of the charging time which is fortunately lower)

Was hoping for a redesign this year to upgrade my series 5. I still want to upgrade this year. But can’t decide if I should be cheap this year and get the SE 2 and hope there is a redesign next year. Or just go all out and get the series 8.

I’m still rockin my series 5. Battery life is great, no bugs, use it mainly for keeping track of workouts. Was thinking of upgrading but I just don’t see the need besides I just want the latest one. Might just hold off until next year. Ultra is just too bulky

My Series 1 has a dead spot that is spreading to the whole screen. So I bought the Series 8 and I am loving it
Currently have a series 4 and was looking at upgrading to the 8 but on closer inspection there really isn't a lot of difference and my series 4 apart from loosing some battery capacity is still going like a champ. Ill save the money and use it to upgrade my Air pods pro instead
That’s eeeexactly what I was thinking
S4 user here too. The screen is slightly bigger on the last few iterations which is nicer and the always-on makes it a bit more ‘normal’ looking. I wanted to save some money and get an S7 given how small the improvements are this year, but alas, I have a bunch of silver aluminium bands from Juuk and they didn’t release the S7 in silver, only that odd starlight colour. Wouldn’t match. I think 4 years is a decent lifespan but equally given the primary functions of notifications and activity tracking are always covered, there’s a good argument for running them into the ground as well.
@@PaulSteere I also at one point thought about the 7 and had exactly thoughts as I also have a silver watch with some bands that wouldn’t match that starlight. It almost forces you to look at the 8 but I’ll hold out
@@JustAGamer70 I hear ya. Unfortunately for me and many others apple seem to think that every one has a perfect 9-5 job and sleeps normal hours. I work a mix of nights and days and the sleep tracking doesn’t account for that it’s a pain in the arse so I don’t use it at all
Always on Display and edge to edge screen in S7 onwards even S6 users may want to upgrade

Honestly kinda disappointed that it can't take body temps. Don't get me wrong I think the cycle tracking is a great addition, but would have been really cool to be able to check your temperature if you have a fever or are overheating or something. The thermometer is already there, I feel like it should have more utility.
I feel like they’ll offer a temperature sensing app or at least do more with it with future updates

Good review. I think the sleep tracking might be better than you thought though, at least in terms of accuracy.
Makes no sense, the battery doesn’t make it long enough to track when I sleep.

I’m debating between buying the series 7 and series 8. It’s my first time buying an apple watch, and I’m kinda unsure if I wanna pay the extra 100 dollars for that new watch. Can someone help me out 😅
There’s no way you’re going to be able to trick the watch or the iPhone with an RC car lol. It would likely need to be going a certain speed for a certain amount of time, recognise the G forces of a usual car drive to have it ready, followed by a sudden deceleration, a change in barometric pressure, the loud frequencies of a car crash/glass breaking/airbags, and likely run it through an algorithm to test it against other crash data that they’ve compiled

Still one Series 3. It's still the ceramic version and still fine for my uses -- sleep tracking, exercise, notifications.

Just keep the s5, there’s literally no feature that’s worth upgrading.
I have the Series 7. It’s the last Apple Watch I’ll ever buy. It works great. 7 is my lucky number, this is one reason why I won’t upgrade. I also have a nice mechanical watch collection I plan to wear more and more, no need to ever upgrade again.
Until the battery swells or AppleOS locks you out of updates.
