In the second round, there actually was an eight: DRYSTONE.
In the fourth round (first numbers round), I had the following alternate solution:
4 / 4 = 1
50 + 1 = 51
51 x 9 = 459
25 x 5 = 125
459 + 125 = 584
In the fifth round, I liked BEATNIK, which was also there for seven.
And in the eighth round, you could arrive at the answer even without using the 50, as follows:
10 x 8 x 7 = 560
560 - 3 - 3 = 554
Another seven-letter word which got overlooked in the first round after the break is BIPLANE!
25:47
18:30 even if I had spotted a ‘7’ I would have instead submitted ‘todger’
4x25 = 100 +50 = 150 - 4 = 146
9-5 =4
4x146 = 584
(4 * 4) - 5 = 11
11 * 50 = 550
550 + 25 + 9 = 584
