Very good to hear about the Woodcock and the self imposed conservation measures ,proper sportsman and country people
My Son shot his first snipe this year and told me it will be his last I was delighted to hear that from an 18 year old !!

Great to hear that a lot of shoots at the moment are exercising restraint on shooting woodcock. We have exercised the same restraint on our family and friend run shoot in Hertfordshire. A wonderful game bird that needs help in recovery and does not want to disappear from our shoots all over the country. People could learn a lot from these vids, showing how much work is done by the shooting fraternity to help maintain the way that the countryside is today. Great video!

As a keen 'young' shot myself I really do appreciate how important it is to bring the younger generations into the shooting community. I am now 18, held a section 2 license since I was 13 and been on shoots since I was 8(beating and shooting). I went straight to 20b at 10 which was a old Spanish sable side by side. Recently progressed to a 12b macnab highlander O/U and loving it!!! Keep up the great videos, I'll be following you!

I'm a Yank and I enjoy nothing better then a day in the field with just myself, my dog and my gun. I hunt mostly pheasant locally and ruffed grouse in the woods of the north. Sometimes I get a bonus quail or woodcock. I hunt to get away by myself. But I think it's great that these folks can get together and organize a hunt day as a group.

Well Dave another great video on a days shooting. Highlight for me was yourself Mark & Andy congratulating/thanking the two young lads at the end. I always had two lads with me on a beating day, teaching them all about what the day entailed. Always gave up my gun on beaters day, with me as coach to the young ones. Would it not be a great thing for yourself & Mark to go that little bit further and get those two lads a lesson or two on the clay’s. I know you go above and beyond most shooters to highlight Game Shooting. But get them hooked now, and they will be shooters for ever. Again well done Dave & team.

Dave Carrie Shooting Dave thanks for your reply. My question to the young ones in the beating line, was are you here for the money or the enjoyment. Always tried to help those who said enjoyment. Took them pigeon shooting, helping me fill bags of wheat, and then going feeding. Which they always enjoyed to the maximum. Would have stayed all day if they could.

I often hear that this type of shooting is beyond the working class, most of the lads I shoot with are working class like myself welders, plasterers, roofers, mechanics, brickies ect.used to shoot a lot in the eighties Wales and Norfolk, Shropshire it wasent cheap then but we all would work nights weekends to put a bit by every week to pay for our days out.I drink very little didn't have time for the pub didn't I smoke either 2 mortgages and kids to bring up.Sound like a rete boring barstuard 😂 just saying it can be done but there are sacrifices to be made. Shot from Devon , the borders, highlands in the last few years not cheap but I wont be lying in that bed about to croak wishing I hadn't done it!! Great video as usual Dave best on here by far, l love the music very fitting, theirs a lot of thought time, ect going into the production and it shows. Nice to see that soft southerner Crow in the shooting, regards Pete.

Re your remarks about wildlife flourishing in a keepered area.I live in North Staffordshire not too far from a large private shoot.People are remarking about the herds of deer both red and roe that are now in the area and wondering why. We,the shooting community, know why they are thriving in the controlled, private, calm and undisturbed environment that the keepers ensure is constant. My old syndicated shoot had butterflies and insect life that spraying had eradicated elsewhere and I have stood and watched boxing hares happily doing their stuff unnoticed and unwatched by no one but me.Mobility problems and financial constraints mean I can`t do anything like as much shooting as I used to but long may it continue.

410 is too restrictive for youngsters 28 gives much better patterns and youngsters will start hitting stuff more quickly and consistently, if they miss too much this can cause them to pack in
